This office is amazing! I have been coming here since 2005. My wife has been coming here since around 2009. Both of our kids even came when we lived on the west side of Los Angeles. They are honest, ethical, friendly, and give exceptional dental care. Our family has been living in Thousand Oaks since 2017 and my wife and I continue to commute here twice a year because they are so good. My wife went to another office in the Thousand Oaks area and wound up getting work done that she really didn't need having fillings replaced that were fine etc. We will continue to come here as long as they are here. There are several dentists that practice here and all have been great. The hygienists and Myrna upfront are wonderful people as well. The building is older, but, everything I mentioned above is what matters most to us. Thank you Dr Payman and staff. read more

The best! My dentist for 10+ years amazing staff and service. Always a pleasure to come and get cleaned.

The best! Love all of the staff and great service every time! Our entire family are longtime clients.

I've been going to Dr. Payman for over 6 years and have referred a lot of my personal friends and family who have had nothing but great experiences and feedback as well. I was there yesterday for inserting my new crown. This is the 4th crown I'm getting but first from Dr. Payman. Let me tell you this is the best crown I've ever seen. The impression she took was perfect. you cannot tell their is a crown in there. The fit and feel of the tooth is perfect. A lot of people mentioned that the deep cleaning is not necessary. I had never received a deep cleaning prior to seeing Dr. Hastee but let me tell you the feeling is exhilarating. You can literally feel how clean your mouth is. I wish it was something I could get every couple months. Her staff is always super friendly and make the experience of going to a dentist as pleasant as possible. The only negative I can say is with the parking situation in the back, sometimes the lot gets full. read more

Take home message: FAIL Brief Summary: This lady will lie and say you need things done (cavities, special cleanings) that you don't need and will either charge you more or play the insurance company; neither is a good thing. Worst of all, she actually missed the one real problem I had with, either because she's incompetent or b/c she's trying to milk as much money as possible. I don't know which is worse. The Whole Shebang Hastee Payman is what's Wrong With America. I was looking for a dentist out here (previously always going to my hometown one), and I got a recommendation from a friend whose wife is a resident at UCLA, where they all RAVE about her. So I decided to give her a try. Now I take pretty good care of my teeth. I've had two cavities before, but haven't had any in a while. I floss daily and brush twice a day. So I know I'm not in terrible shape. However I did chip a bit off a molar (damn you GoLean Crunch, damn you to hell). I go in for a checkup and cleaning. Payman says that I have a bunch of cavities. She says that I need to get the perioscale "deep cleaning" b/c of plaque buildup. She says I need a crown for my chipped molar. So they write up a bill. Allegedly, I need 6 cavities taken care of! And I needed this expensive cleaning, and the crown. Because USC grad student dental insurance is crap, it turns out to be a hefty amount of money. But Hastee was so generous and going to offer me a "professional discount". But I must hurry and do the procedures soon. How about you just BE professional? Fuck you. While I felt bad about my teeth, I didn't feel confident in her assessment. Luckily, my aunt is a dental hygienist, and I talk to her and she cannot believe that I would need that stuff, especially the perioscaling. So I go to another place for a second opinion, and they say I have ONE cavity, and that I certainly do not need the deep cleaning. They aren't sure on the chip, but say it definitely does not need a crown now. Then I send my x-rays to my aunt, who agrees with the 2nd opinion. She says I can just have my chipped filled. So....practically NONE of the things this swindler try to get done to me did I actually need. Furthermore, my aunt notes that my two front teeth need some work. I had chipped them when I was young, and the crowns I had on likely moved when I was hit by a car in Brazil (Ze says watch out for South American drivers). Now they were getting infected, and I need new ones. The Swindler did not SEE this! Or rather, she may have, but knowing it was an REAL problem, she could wait to diagnose it and milk even more money out of the whole charade. The worst thing is that she does this to everyone. It's her scheme. If someone has a good insurance policy, she takes advantage by charging as many things as possible that the insurance company will pay for, but the person does not. She'll even charge LIE about the price of a procedure to the insurance company, so % wise they end up paying for the whole thing, and she acts nicey-nicey to the customer saying they don't have to pay anything. Look at chris m and the rest of the UCLA med students. Fooled. But I'm no damn fool. Tuan T get's it too. This just ends up inflating insurance costs for all of us. Even if you have good insurance; even if she does a decent job on the teeth, this is NOT the sort of BEHAVIOR we should promote in our society. Think rationally people! read more

The Quick: Fantastic, highly recommended! The Not so quick: So i made an appointment with Dr Payman on recommendation of a colleague who raved about her. But I must say I was reserved after reading a couple of the reviews on yelp. So although I entered with a hint of doubt I left with absolute certainty. The experience from beginning to end was fantastic, Dr Payman knows her stuff inside out, greets you with a smile and entertains you with her charm throughout. Unlike everywhere else I have gone where you really get the feeling you're just another in a line of people, you really feel like she cares. Not to mention the fact I felt completely comfortable, since I could tell she really knows what she is doing. All in all, she was great, the experience was great, and i highly recommend giving her a shot, you wont regret it -Max read more

A few years back, I found myself in a job with dental insurance. After the requisite x-rays and such Dr. Payman informed me that I needed to fill some cavities. We took care of that and a deep cleaning over a few weeks then it was onto the heavy duty stuff. All four of my wisdom teeth had to go. I was given local anesthetic and before I knew it I was numb as a bunny. We took a few x-rays and then it was off to the races. She started with the top two, and I have to say that it went so smoothly and quickly that I was beginning to think that all the worry and doubt leading up to the procedure had been a waste. As we moved to the bottom teeth, I figured we'd be done in no time. But it seemed that my lower teeth we being a little stubborn and then suddenly there was a loud SNAP. Yes, that's right, my tooth had broken in half. From the expression on the dental assistant's face I could tell this wasn't good news. At this point Hastee decided that we should move on to the other lower tooth, and get that out of the way. Then we could return to the troublesome one. After a significant amount of prodding and pulling, SNAP! With that I realized I'd better cancel my lunch plans as we were going to be here a while. So, we moved back to the first troublemaker tooth --- now just the roots deeply embedded in the bone of my jaw. Surgical kits came out and next thing I know we're cutting gums and drilling bone. It turns out that, like some sort of circus freak, my wisdom tooth roots took a jag near the end trapping them beneath the bone. After about a half hour of cracking noises and profuse amounts of blood she managed to get the remains of my tooth removed. Armed with the experience gained from the first one, the second stubborn tooth gave way a bit more quickly. After some sutures and gauze I was ready to go. It was as if nothing had happened, apart from the numb yet sore mouth and dried blood on my cheeks. She let me keep the top two teeth as souvenirs. They were pretty decayed and gross. I must admit I feel a little better having them out of my mouth. Then it was cold soup and penicillin for the next few days. The stitches came out a week later. It was a bit more involved than the old string and door trick. But all in all, I guess it could have been worse. I'm still keeping my eye out for that tooth fairy who's clearly been dodging me. We've got some business to attend to. read more

I have been coming to Dr Payman since 2006. I came to her offices through a teeth whitening promo that was being offered on the westside where i was working at the time. I was in the market for a new dentist. It had been a few years since i had been to a dentist. I had a pretty tramautic experience in 2003 with a wisdom tooth extraction in beverly hills. I had let my teeth go. I needed a couple of root canals and crowns. Dental work is expensive but whats the point of whitening dirty, rotten teeth. I got the work done. and then the teeth whitening. Now when I see Dr. Payman, its in and out. Look Ma, no cavities! Dr. Payman is great, super professional as well as the rest of her staff that has worked on my mouth over he years. Take care of your teeth and floss people. its important. even if only once a week. Getting a parking spot in the lot can be a challenge but there is a lot of metered spots on the street as well as 2 hour parking in the neighborhood. read more

I was referred by a co-worker, a very picky kind of "glass half empty" kind of guy who absolutely raved. So I'm not really sure about the bad reviews here, but I had a great experience and a ridiculous amount of work done that I was too chicken/lazy to take care of prior. So, in one visit --- a few hours--- I get the following done: 3 wisdom teeth extractions (above the gum), a crown, a crown replacement, a crown filling, 2 and a deep cleaning and some fillings. (Yes, I have bad teeth, I've known this for years and let my cavities get to the point of crowns and caps before finally fixing it.... let this be a lesson to you). First off---my wisdom teeth were above the gum so they literally came out in a couple of minutes. I barely even felt it--- it felt like someone was scratching my teeth lightly. The crowns were easy, the fillings were easy. I was a bit puffy and sore the next day, but two days later I was fine.... that's really saying a lot for the amount of work I had done in one day As for the cleaning, my back gums have lightly bled for the past 2 years when I floss which according to her is a result of the bacteria build up under them. The cleaning took care of that..... who knew! All in all, great experience, definitely will go back. read more

I've been going to Hastee Payman for over 5 years and she has absolutely been one of the best dentist that i have been to. She is very competent and also very nice. I've had about 5-7 fillings replaced by her and she did a much better job than the guy who put them in. I've also had a root canal and she is very patient with all the various steps (drillings, fittings, etc). When i had the root canal, the pain was worse than expected and i called her hotline late at night. She was very responsive and quick to provide a new prescription very quickly. I have recommended her to others who have also raved about their experience. I'm a little surprised by the negative reviews because my many experiences there have been quite the opposite. In fact, she replaced my fillings with composites and didn't charge me extra even though my insurance at the time only covered amalgam fillings. She said that amalgams can damage the tooth (metal expands / contracts at a different rate than the tooth when eating hot / cold items) and that her goal is to provide good service to her patients rather than nickel and dime them for misc charges. Again, I highly recommend Dr. Payman and continue to refer a lot of friends and coworkers to her. read more

Hey, I'm not a big Yelper (this is actually only my 2nd Yelp ever), but every once in a while, I have such a good or bad experience that I have to share it, and I thought who better to share this GREAT experience with than the Yelp community... Hastee M. Payman, DDS has been a dental dream for me. I move around a lot, and it's always difficult to find a good dentist who knows what they're doing and is going to take care of you. I've been given the run around numerous times by dentists trying to do work that doesn't need to get done, and some dentists who just do crappy work. I just moved to Playa Del Rey, and Dr. Payman was recommended by a good friend of mine when I was asking about dentists. I have never been the best on taking care of my teeth...I mean, I brush at least 2-3x a day, but very rarely floss. Every visit I have with a dentist, I dread hearing the words "You need a root canal". Now, on a Saturday evening, I was at the movies, bit a popcorn kernel, and chipped my tooth. The following Monday, I got something stuck in that same tooth and was using a tooth pick when I plucked out my filling to the same tooth. All I could think was this tooth was so rotten it no doubt needs a root canal. I called Dr. Payman, and had an appointment scheduled for that week. In my first visit, it was just your regular xray, cleaning, and seeing what was going on. She looked at my tooth in question, and didn't think a root canal was necessary. I scheduled for the following week to have my filling replaced. During my next visit, in prepping for the filling, we found out that my tooth in deed, was rotten and it was time for a root canal. Dr. Payman performed it right away. No making me wait a couple days in pain and discomfort (most dentist won't even perform a root canal, by the way...you usually will get sent to an orthodontist or specialist cuz most dentist aren't qualified to do root canals)...She just numbed me up, and was pulling roots out within an hour :)...when she got that little bugger out, I can not even begin to explain what relief I had...I always kind of felt discomfort in my mouth, but never even really thought about it...there was just so much pressure released when she pulled out my root that it almost felt as good as an orgasm...that should be her motto..."Hastee M. Payman, DDS - Orgasmic Dental!!!" She is so friendly and makes you feel at home too...the staff is the same way and you just feel comfortable and confident that you're in good hands. I did the deep cleaning that a couple of these other guys are crying about in the past Yelps below and I have no idea what they're crying about...it feels amazing and you get your money's worth. If you have never had a deep cleaning, go get one and you'll then know why it's all worth it. And you know...these other guys are taking on some "Holier than Though" attitude...they say she'll play the insurance company and a bunch of this other slander about being dishonest...Really? Really? Soooo, when she told you guys that everything was covered by your insurance, I bet you whipped out your policy right there, and told her "As a matter of fact, my insurance doesn't cover this this and this. Let me just whip out my wallet and take care of the difference right now." ????? I'm going back and as long as I'm in the Los Angeles area, Hastee M. Payman, DDS will be my dentist. I'm so happy with her, I'm recommending her to everyone I know...oh...by the way, if you read this Yelp, and it persuades you to go see her, tell her Justin P. sent you. I'll get a pair of free movie tix for it ;) read more

Can you give zero stars? Residents, do not come here. Say thanks for the free goodies/advertisement and go somewhere else. I decided to try Dr. Payman after many recommendations from fellow UCLA residents who loved all the "free services" she gave. Unfortunately, I had to experience her for myself before I heard the MANY more stories from residents who went to her once and then ran the other way. She says that most of her business is from UCLA residents, and of all people, we deal daily with patients who can't get what they need because they don't have insurance or their crappy insurance puts up a ton of obstacles to getting necessary treatments. Then you have Hastee Payman, who frankly commits insurance fraud by giving you unnecessary treatments and billing the insurance company thousands of dollars for things you didn't really get/need so that you don't have to pay anything out of pocket but she still gets paid plenty. She says that she doesn't do regular cleanings, but only does special "deep cleanings" which, as the previous reviewer mentioned, cost $1500. This is billed as something separate from a regular cleaning, which she also bills for, but then gives you an electronic toothbrush to make up for it. Fillings? Billed as tooth extractions. 4 wisdom teeth? No problem, let's remove them all at once, today, even though you only came in for a cleaning... gotta get as much out of you while she can, before you realize what she's doing. She also seems to try to fit everybody for a nightguard or push a whitening treatment, all of which is very enticing because it's "free"... until we see how much she is billing our insurance companies (and we end up paying in the long run as premiums rise). My conscience won't allow me to go here, and I would hope yours doesn't either. read more

Dr. Hastee Payman is the best! Having had consultations and treatments for my kids and myself with several dentists, I can tell you professional and compassion= Dr. Payman! She is very knowledgeable on all the latest technology. After taking my daughter to several dentists, they recommended braces right from the start. However after a complete set of good xrays, Dr. Payman suggested a palate spacer. She was right on it! The staff at her office friendly and very professional. She is truly the best! I live over 60 miles away, however I do not mind driving to Dr. Payman's office. It's worth the drive. Service like hers is hard to come by. Thank you Dr. Payman! read more

Dr. Hastee Payman is great! I started going to see her while I was in law school at USC, and have had only good experiences during each of my visits since then. In fact, they've been so good that I recently flew out to Los Angeles from New York a day earlier than necessary so that I could make an appointment with her! Dr. Payman is very thorough, but gentle. My teeth have never felt cleaner, I have not had any cavities because of her preventative care, and she does only what is necessary for me - she's not pushy with products or services, and neither is her staff. I wish I could find someone like her in New York! read more

My experience has with Dr. Payman has only been positive. She and the rest of her staff are friendly and helpful. Also, I've found the quality of dental work to be very good. Most recently, I had a veneer on one of my front teeth fall off around 9:00pm on a weekday evening. I had an important business meeting early the next day. I called Dr. Payman and she arranged to have my veneer placed back on early the following morning before her office technically opened. I was grateful for the excellent customer service. read more

So I got my receipt for the "best cleaning of my life" and the night guard. Are you sitting down? $1500! Holy-overpriced-insurance-gouging, batman! I wish I weren't so foolish as to go to medical school and got into dentistry instead. And can anybody tell me what Congress is thinking, regulating the doctors, cutting down on Medicare benefits when really, they should be looking at all the dentists and note how they're all ballin' and big-shot callin'. And for what? Cleaning some measly 'ol chompers. I guess the good thing is that I finally got my night guard and supposedly, won't have to pay a cent for any of this. We'll see when the actual bill, if there is one, comes in the mail. read more

BEWARE! This lady was great when I was getting cleanings and whitening. But then one day she tells me I need two crowns because I have a crack in two teeth. So I ask her to show me. She proceeds to show me cracks for which I can't see for the life of me. She also offers me that "friendly" discount if I get them done soon (apparently her M.O.). I'm horrified...my teeth are beautiful and all mine. So...I drive all the way to Whittier to a wonderful dentist who I love and trust for a second opinion. Needless to say, SHE'S A LIAR. No cracked teeth. She purely wanted to jack two of my teeth for her own personal profit. SAVE YOURSELF and your beautiful teeth and STAY AWAY! read more

THE B.E.S.T. So, I am DEATHLY afraid of anything remotely related to the dentist. My dilemma, a killer wisdom tooth that ruined my entire bite. My savior, Dr. Payman. She was absolutely patient as well as gentle. She waited until I was comfortable and COMPLETELY NUMB, and removed the nuisance in my mouth. I am not exaggerating when I say I did not feel the tooth come out. I thought she was pulling my leg when she informed me that the procedure was over. I also had a few cavities tended to and that was also pleasant. Coming from an individual who sees dental work as a tool of the devil, I must say, I have nothing but positive regard for Dr. Payman and her staff. I have and will continue to recommend my squeamish friends. My entire family, based in Los Angeles, receives services from Dr. Payman and recommended i go. I figured it's best to pass it on. -Ivy- read more

To whomever it may concern: I recently started to feel an agonizing pain in my bottom right wisdom tooth and I mistakenly thought that I could just ignore it, but the pain got so bad that I couldn't sleep or eat anymore. My family got really worried so they asked my boyfriend to call Dr. Payman and see if she could take me in, even though I have horrible insurance, and needless to say Dr. Payman and her staff took me in with open arms, like they always have. So I went in today with a frown, because I was in soooo much pain that I could not even smile, and came out with a ginormous smile because she literally removed my bottom right wisdom tooth in less than thirty seconds, and she did it all while talking to me and trying to make me smile. And now a couple of hours after the detraction, I am still smiling with absolutely no pain. I love her and all of the people that work there, because they give me hope in the fact that good people still exist out there. The experience that I always have with Dr. Payman is one that all Dentists should strive to provide. To them a patient is more than just a number, to them a patient is a human being, and like such, deserves to be treated in the kindest and most professional way possible. Before even beginning work on a patient they ask about the symptoms, rather than ones insurance provider. That is why it is annoying and hurtful when people lie about her desire to gain a financial benefit off of people's insurance money, when all she strives for is to provide excellent service to all of her patients. Sincerely, Diana read more

AWFUL!!!!!! She is a crook!!! She will tell you you don't have to pay copay's (which is illegal). She actually told me she could straighten my teeth by drilling between them and pushing them back together with a retainer. I thought I was just getting a retainer until she came out with a drill. Long story short, I allowed her to do it on some teeth, the gaps never closed and now I trap food in the spaces. I spoke with several other dentisits and they told be that tis is NOT a sound technique!! She does it to make extra money and pushes patients to get the treatment! On another note, she will clean your teeth, then charge your insurance company for fillings!!! (Yes fillings), then advise you to ignore any charges you get from the insurance company in the mail. UNBELIEVABLE!! This woman should be in JAIL! read more

It was not until years later that I went to a mother dentist because my tooth cracked and he told me that I had a cavity almost the size of my tooth and that it has been there for YEARS (10+). He asked me when I last went to the dentist and I told him probably 3 or 4 years ago (which was Hastee). He asked my what I did which was teeth cleaning, a new tooth (since my prior one cracked - of which he said the actual tooth doesn't even match my mouth - Hastee did it), she put caps around my receding gum line, etc. He was shocked that Hastee never pointed out my rotting tooth! He showed me the X-ray and I couldn't believe it either. I can't believe she never even mentioned it while she's doing all these cosmetic procedures!!!!! I have a half broke tooth now and have to most likely get an implant. I am so disappointed with Hastee and you know what she said to me once? "We have a girl that has the same name as you also! After you leave, my staff and I are going to talk about who is prettier!!" They all giggled like it was so funny and she maybe was joking (probably not), but I was so offended! Don't get me wrong, in the beginning I thought Hastee was cool and nice... Thought she was attentive and good. As I got older and wiser, Hastee isn't for those that like to be treated well.
