The lack of professionalism I experienced from the front desk was inexcusable. I had called a couple weeks in advance and made my appointment over the phone directly with the office. When I showed up for my appointment, the first person to "help" was on a personal FaceTime, did not acknowledge me until I had to say something, told me I "probably need to fill something out as a new patient" but wasn't sure what then told me to sit and wait. After a couple minutes another woman called me up, told me they had needed to move my appointment up but didn't have my contact (because they didn't take it while on the phone with them making my appointment) and that they couldn't fit me in. Clearly frustrated, she said she could take me back only for X-rays but I would need to come back for the cleaning. She said she'd call when they were ready for me but I had to pry an estimated wait time out of them which turned out to be an hour. I said I wanted to do my full service at one time not X-rays now and cleaning later and she acted as though I was putting her out. I can't speak to the care because I decided to take my business elsewhere after such dismissive, frustrating treatment. I would advise any new patient to stay away from this rude mess of an admin team. read more

The quality of care was so amazing. My girlfriend had called the office and spoken with an Aria. Then we had an appointment. The dental assistant was so informative. And Dr Follette was so kind. We would not have went to the office had not been for the receptionist/patient coordinator. Aria was only friendly. She was smart and educated me on what the doctor would be doing and the price. The office staff are lovely and pleasant, and Dr. Follette also seems nice. However, I didn't love the tone she used when speaking to her dental assistant -- it felt dismissive at times. Despite the friendly staff, I had a negative experience during both of my visits. It took months to get an initial appointment due to lack of availability, which was already frustrating. At my first visit, they took extensive X-rays and informed me that I had significant decay, needed several fillings replaced, and would also need a crown. The appointment ran so long they "ran out of time" to do my cleaning -- after I had already been there for over an hour. I was disappointed that I would need to come back for a separate cleaning appointment, especially after waiting so long to be seen in the first place. I was then scheduled to have some fillings replaced (I wasn't even told exactly which ones), but somehow there was no wait for that appointment. During the procedure, the dentist was so rough that my lip was swollen and bruised for a full day afterward. She gave me two shots, but only numbed me for one, and at one point she dropped a tool and accidentally pricked my face causing me to bleed though it wasn't too serious. Throughout the entire procedure, she was so rough that the protective glasses they put on me kept slipping off -- and she didn't seem to notice or care. I left with a headache and pain that lasted well beyond the visit. That appointment was over two weeks ago, and I'm still dealing with pain. As a result, I need to find a new dentist because I can't imagine going back. To top it off, they had told me I needed a crown and scheduled me for that procedure, which I did so only on the condition that they would provide the cost estimate beforehand. That information was never provided, so I ended up canceling the appointment entirely. Maybe once upon a time Dr. Follette provided good care, but this was actually one of my worst experiences with a dentist ever. read more

I just had my first appointment here and am so happy we found this gem of a dentist in Santa Monica. Dr. Follette herself did my cleaning, and it was painless and thorough. Best cleaning I've ever had, honestly! She didn't push me into any services/procedures like many dentists do. I also really appreciated that her whole office is very Covid safe, wearing masks and encouraging sick patients to stay home. This made me feel very safe. Dr. Follette is amazing, I travel one to come to her. I tried to go to a dentist near my house twice. Both times they messed up my teeth and they were charging me for unnecessary procedures. Dr. Follette seems like a very nice person who has been practicing for 40 plus years. She may have been an excellent dentist in the past. However, my recent experience with her making a crown for me was so poor that I actually went to another dentist to finish the job! She TWICE started to work on the wrong tooth! Dr. Follette and her team are AMAZING. I had to get 2 cavities filled and I told Dr. Follette that I tend to cry. She was super tentative and gracious. Dr. Follette prides herself in the way she can numb your mouth and it's true. She was very into the details and making me feel comfortable: making sure that the cavity was cleaned SUPER well and that the filling was perfect. Rosa was her right hand during the cavity filling and has been working with Dr. Follette for 33 years! She was THE sweetest. I actually held onto Rosa's arm because I have PTSD with cavities. She and her staff are professional and friendly and very encouraging of me and my teeth. It is quite possible that the world's most gentle dental hygienists work here. I moved from another state and I needed to find a new dentist. I was recommended to this dentist by a co-worker. I can't speak for the actual dentist but I can speak for the hygienist. The hygienist first was very weary to clean my teeth because I have adult braces. She barely cleaned my teeth at all. She told me that I need to come back in 4 months and when I come back that I need to go to my orthodontist and have them remove all my wires and bands, come to their office get a cleaning then go back to my orthodontist and have them put my wires and bands back on. That makes no sense. That would talk the entire day plus driving all over LA just to have a teeth cleaning. I have never had this problem with my cleaning back home with my dentist I have been going to for years. I was also tricked into buying expensive toothpaste and mouth wash. She said she was giving me this mouthwash and toothpaste for people who have braces. That is really gets all the plaque out of the hard to reach places. I thought thats really nice of them. I then get to the counter and they tell me today your payment is $27. Now usually our cleanings are free but since my husband started a new job and we are on different dental insurance I just thought that was for the cleaning. They do not give me a receipt of the break down of the cost. After the visit I called my husband who had been to the dentist to have his teeth cleaned 2 weeks earlier and he said our cleanings are free. So that mouth wash that she told me she was "giving me" was $27. That is very shady and NOT okay. I am not happy. To top it off they will not validate parking and it cost me $10 plus a $3.00 ATM fee just to park in there parking garage. I think they should at least validate there customers parking. read more

Not only have I received excellent care over the years, Dr. Follette saw my elderly mother (who is not her patient) in an emergency situation and took care of her as if she were her own mother. I hate to admit that I hadn't been to a dentist in years, but the technician was so thorough and knowledgeable that my nerves settled immediately. Dr. Follette was awesome! Some dentists are so aggressive, seemingly choosing pricey procedures to correct small problems, but Dr. Follette is honest and really cares about her patients. And the BEST part: she uses new technology to fill cavities where you don't need numbing! I had a couple egregious experiences with Dr. Follette. My second and third time there she introduced herself to me as if we'd never met. Dr. Follette filled one of my cavities--my teeth and gums were painful for a couple weeks afterwards, so I went back so she could "fix it" (she shaved down part of the filling). The pain and discomfort persisted, so I switched dentists. My new dentist was appalled at the filling, saying that it had an odd overhang, was badly formed, and had been chipped away during the "shaving." He redid it on the spot. This is my first time writing on yelp and after all of my work that Dr. Follette performed on my teeth I couldnt help but not give her 5 stars. Dr.Follette has taken care of my entire family for years and she always makes sure you understand what she is doing and why she is doing it so you dont ask yourself questions while she is performing her procedures in the chair. She referred me to an oral surgeon who did a wonderful job for my wisdom teeth, then once everything was healed i came back to get my teeth bonded. I was in by 9 out by 12:30 with a perfectly natural looking new smile. Dr.Follette will go above and beyond to help you by any means necessary and her team especially Rosa is the best you feel like you have known them forever. Do yourself and favor and next time you need dental work done or need to refer someone to a dentist they will be more than happy to have Dr.Follette's care. Let me just say that this is one dentist who goes the extra mile -- Dr. Follette really cares about what happens to her patients and their families. My elderly mother who lives in Las Vegas needs some work done.
