These people are thieves, extortionists, and commit insurance fraud. I've been a patient here for 2 years. They were recommended to me by a coworker. Everything had been fine until my latest and last visit. Last year Dr Patel recommended I get some fillers for a few teeth. The vibe of this place is very sales-y. They definitely try to upsell you on things. Which I get, everyone needs to make some money. So I decided to get the fillings done. I had 3 fillings done last June (2025). They submitted the claim through my insurance and I paid the copay. Fast forward to today - 1 year later, June '26 - as i'm leaving my routine cleaning the front desk woman said I had a balance due on my account. I asked if she could just email me an invoice since I'd already spent nearly an hour there and had other commitments. I said I'd take a look at it as I wasn't sure why I would have a balance due. She pushed and said it's just $50.40 - As though it being a nominal amount meant that I should just pay it without knowing what I was paying for. I said that's fine, but I'd like to make sure I know what I'm paying for and will need to talk with my insurance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At this point of the conversation the man with the long hair and nose ring interjects into the conversation and starts demanding payment. He was practically yelling at me. It was highly unprofessional and made me uncomfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Given that he was demanding payment on the spot I tried to ask clarifying questions but he would not answer clearly. He said that it's for services rendered and it's due today. He became increasingly hostile and combative so I left the office seeing as the conversation wasn't going anywhere. I figured they'd send me the invoice anyway and I'd get it sorted. They did indeed send a follow-up email demanding payment within 15 days or they'd send it to collections. Given that this was the first I'd heard of a balance owed on my account, I found it highly suspicious that they'd be so threatening. Note that I had a cleaning with them between my appt when I got the filling and the latest cleaning. Additionally they have all of my contact info and never once sent me an invoice. In any case I started combing through my emails from them, my receipts, and the insurance claims they sent to my insurer. Turns out they had fraudulently billed my Insurance for 4 fillings instead of 3, and the outstanding balance they claimed I owed was the exact copay amount for the 4th tooth. I reviewed the invoice again and noticed another discrepancy. The teeth they claimed to have filled were incorrect. What I find comical is that one of the teeth that the invoice reflects as filled is actually one that Dr Morim mentioned I should get filled at the appointment that literally just took place. With all that being said, I've obviously reached out to the Dental Board of California and i filed a formal complaint, I've notified my insurance of their fraud, and have contacted an attorney to explore other avenues of legal action that may be available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The thing that is most upsetting about this scenario is how they treated me. I've been a loyal client to them for 2 years, but it felt like they were treating me like some common thief trying to evade payment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Given that they destroyed all goodwill i had for them, I've obviously decided to find another provider. After many years of being Dr. Mogharei's patient, I left his practice and found a new dentist. Something seems to have happened after Dr. Mogharei expanded his practice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The competence and professionalism of the front desk staff dropped sharply[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the constant pokes to spend $5K on Invisalign came out of nowhere and never let off (roughly around the time that the Invisalign banners started permeating the practice) and [[HIGHLIGHT]]consistently the experience felt less and less personal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I do want to highlight that Dr. Morim, who was my dentist towards the end, was fantastic every step of the way. I feel an urgent need to update my review and give Dr. M and his wonderful staff another 5 stars. Reading some of the recent poor reviews makes me really want to put my $0.02 in. First of all, a couple of reviews have complained that the lady in charge of the billing, Joanne, is loud and obnoxious...yes she is loud and so the hell what. I think she is sweet as can be and not everyone rocks the same ol' grey boring personality. I don't find her one bit obnoxious; as a matter of fact she has always made me feel rather welcome and always entertains me before I'm brought into the exam room. We need more people like Joanne at every dentist office because her bubbly personality eases the nerves. Second of all, complaining about a fee for canceling your appointment less than 24 hours in advance...uhh that's pretty standard. Imagine running a business and you don't book a customer because you are expecting another person to show up and they just cancel. That's money lost. Yes Dr. M is in the business to help your smile look pearly white, but he is also in the business to make a living. Again; most doctor offices charge a fee. No point in bitching and moaning over it. On that note however I've canceled a day before my appointment and Joanne has always been understanding and never has she bullied me to come in or threaten to charge me...perhaps if you aren't a bitch to her she is actually really nice and accommodating. Last but not least; I was very disappointed when my long time hygienist Gladys left the day before my cleaning appointment with her; and was even more frustrated with the new hygenist that took her place. I came to yelp writing my frustration in a 2 star review swearing I'd never be back. Time passed however and I realized there is no one else better than Dr. M; so I decided to give the new hygienist a chance. Come to find out; Doris is actually a doll and really good at what she does...I think I was just a psycho hormonal mess the day I went in and was used to the old hygienists ways so I never gave Doris a fair chance. The girl was so careful cleaning my teeth today and even kept dabbing my face with a towel not to mess up my make up. Too sweet! I always have and always will be very impressed with Dr. M and his staff. Ever since I can remember I hated going to the dentist but he makes caring for your teeth fun and I'm happy to show off my pearly whites. Dr. Mogharei and his team honestly do an amazing job at relieving dental anxiety and making you feel comfortable during every procedure. In the past few months, I've gotten a lot of dental work done and am honestly amazed at how painless and quick every visit is. Dr. Mogharei also thoroughly explains every procedure and lets you know what's going on. His team is both very friendly and efficient as well. I've been in to Dr. Mogharei's office twice now, and and have been really impressed both times. The receptionists are friendly and offer you something to drink when you arrive, and both the hygienist and Dr. Mogharei were thorough and informative. My first visit was a cleaning/exam, and the second was to replace some old fillings. What I love about this dental office is that they take the things people really hate about going to a dentist and solved them. Instead of having to listen to loud drilling sounds, they offer you headphones and music. While your mouth is being stretched open for drilling, they put vaseline around your lips so they don't dry out and crack painfully. They move quickly, but also tell you what's happening each step of the way so that you're not left wondering what's going on or how much longer. Really happy to have found this place! read more

Dr. Mogharei might be a good dentist, but he has put out brochures for the last few months discussing in house insurance, and I have left no less than 10 messages for Edwin, who is in charge of insurance but is clueless about this program-that they themselves advertise. It has taken me over a year to write this review because of the poor (traumatizing to say the least) experience I had with Dr. Mogharei on my second visit. As you can imagine, I chose this place due to the yelp reviews (at first glance they are amazing), and I had a very good initial appointment with my cleaning, etc. The second time I came back to get a cavity refilled was an absolute nightmare (I opted for one filling although the Dr. told me I had several). Keep in mind the last two dentists I have seen for cleaning since then have not mentioned anything about these 'cavities' - I look back thinking they were just wanting me to spend more money. At this time, I had terrible recession on my top teeth. Before the procedure began, I pointed out a few teeth that he (Dr. Mogharei) should absolutely not touch. He insisted on putting a 'protective cap' over these areas (aka the roots of my teeth) to avoid sensitivity from the air. The first moment he put them on I immediately said no and to stop what he was doing because it was so painful. He insisted to keep going and the pain was unbearable. I actually started crying and had anxiety in the office because he would not take no for an answer. I actually had to raise my voice to get him to stop with the procedure (he did not apologize nor understand - zero empathy!). The dental assistants (I believe there were two females in the room) felt awful for me and brought me water, asked if I was ok, etc. You could tell they felt uncomfortable by the way he behaved, to say the least. I left crying and was not 100% to return back to work that afternoon. Never once did I receive an apology email, call - nothing from the Doctor. He was incredibly aggressive and I will never return nor recommend his services. It is unfortunate because he has wonderful staff, but Dr. Mogharei is not somebody I would trust in anyway, shape or form after that incident. Proceed here with caution. read more

Visiting your dentist doesn't need to be a dreadful experience when you have the right office and staff. Doris, my dental hygienist, made the experience from beginning to end so comfortable, informative and thorough. Doris took time to explain about my cleaning, areas I needed to focus on and what the importance was. She taught me how to properly floss (who knew there's a method to it?!) Then she gets mad and puts me on hold. I waited for about 1 minute or less till someone picks up the phone, telling me Daisy got busy and she is going to help me!!! The ABSOLUTE worst dental experience of my life. Last time I was here was in August of 2015. Why did it take me so long to write a review on them? Because there were so many things that went wrong with this place that just out of pure laziness, I didn't want to make the effort to write such an extensive review. Ok... Here we go. 1st. Let's start with the simplest problem. PARKING. Each time I went here, their parking lot ended up costing me 12 bucks. Why? If you're lucky to find street parking, make sure you leave 2 hours early because in Santa Monica this is nearly an impossible feat. So, imagine.. having to go to their office a total of 4 times, that's almost 50 bucks. 2nd. After I made an appt with them I ended up getting a canker sore from just a lack of everything but I'm use to it because ive suffered from this since I was a baby. My mother and my brother suffer from the same danmned thing. If you know anything about this, you know that they are NOT contagious. It's caused by stress, lack of sleep, and a vitamin deficiency. So, I called them up to reschedule for a time after I have healed and, was it Joanne(?) tells me, "Oh, you should really come in then because the doctor might have something to help you heal." I said oh, ok... And kept my appt. I get there the day of and guess what? Not only did the doctor see me for less than 5 minutes, he said there's really nothing he can do till I heal and walked out of the exam room. 2nd and a half. The dental hygienist that was suppose to clean my teeth looked at my canker sore and says to me, "Um..ya (In the most valley girl voice). I can't really do anything because you're probably still contagious." I looked at her like, WTF??? How are you working in people's mouths and not know what is and is not contagious?!! Then she goes on to tell me that her mom suffers from canker sores and when she gets one, she stays away from her father. My reply was, "Well, then, your mother doesn't have canker sores, she has herpes." 3rd. The front desk women are not only creepy but just straight up obnoxious. The lady (I call her that hesitantly) is so demanding and loud. She uses intimidation to get what she wants. Then there's the receptionist. She's the girl that pays you unwanted and unnecessary compliments in the most awkward weird way. It's hard to explain. It's just bazaar.lol... 4th. They still use film for X-rays!!!! So friggin archaic. Any decent dentist is now digital. If your dentist isn't, find a new one. After my nightmare with this doctor my new dentist caught 2 cavities that Dr. Mogharei missed!! 5th. I had a crown done that now after 5 months, I still suffer from tenderness and chronic pain. My new dentist and I are hoping the pain subsides because now I'm not sure what I have to do to fix this or even if I can. 6th. Today I go to the mail to find a bill from them for another 335 bucks of which I paid in full when I was there. I immediately called my bank, got a reference number and called their office and gave them a piece of my mind. I was so angered by their absolute disgusting methods, I just couldn't hold it in. 7th. Their office is is so unclean. The spit cup I used had blood spattered in it and the whole office is in dire need of a facelift, including their equipment. The whole time I was there, something in me kept wanting to leave. I should've listened to myself but I didn't. Now I'm suffering the consequences. Luckily, I found an amazing dentist that is the complete opposite from this archaic office. And one more thing. At one point I had to reschedule one of my appts. When I called, that same obnoxious woman that handles the finances picked up and basically bullied me into coming in. Telling me that I will be penalized if I cancel in less than 24 hours. "You know what bi*ch, sometimes life happens and it happens at times you don't expect." I have no idea how she actually got me to feel bad about it but I did and I went in bringing cupcakes! Unbelievable. All I can say is, I felt bullied. so embarrassing. This is the kind of experience when you don't realize how poorly you were treated till you leave and find someone else. Like dating an abusive guy thinking you don't deserve better. Trust me, you deserve better!!!! read more

I am so happy with my current dentist! Previously, I saw a dentist in Beverly Hills as a referral. When she left, I still showed up for a cleaning. I complained about pain in my mouth on the right side and asked for a dentist to call me. The hygienist told me the dentist would call me if he saw anything on the x-rays. Well, no one called, and I was still in pain. I called the office and no one called me back. That is when I switched to Dr. Mogharei. I'm not particular about the appearance of dentist's offices - as long as everything looks clean and my dentist is competent, I am satisfied. But the decor is very pleasant, and the staff is great. Stephanie must be the office manager and she is organized and responsive. The client service exceeded my expectations. Dr. Mogharei ordered the usual tests. Then he took a tiny camera to take a picture of the area I complained about. Turns out I somehow cracked the top of one of the molars, hence the pain. Without getting into the gory details of my dental issues and treatment, I will just say this. He took the time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions. I had to return several times and at no time did I ever feel like I was rushed in and out of the office. I hope my teeth don't fall apart as I get older, but there is some comfort knowing that I like my dentist and his office staff. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking to improve their current level of dental care. read more

If you cannot imagine a spa-like experience in a dentist office, it's because you have not been to my dentist! Dr. Ali is the nicest, most courteous dentist I have ever been to aside from being good at what he does. His staff is very attentive and treats you like you're their one and only patient. They now have massage pads on the dentist chair and they dip your hands in paraffin so that you're hands get treatment while you're getting teeth cleaning. I have been with them for years and have encouraged my family to switch and they are as happy with the dental service as I am. And even after years of going there, they keep on improving each visit. Aside from the spa-like atmosphere (paraffin hand dip, heated blankets, comfy neck pillows, headphones for your smartphone, massaging chair), this office is staffed with people who truly care about their patients. They're the type of people who remember what's going on in your life (i.e. surgeries, weddings, new jobs) and genuinely care enough to follow up when they see you again. They'll even pay your parking meter if you're running short on time during an appointment! Dr. Mogharei is gentle, thorough, and uses cutting edge technology. I really appreciate his conservative approach. He's careful and methodical in his treatment plans, he won't suggest doing something that isn't absolutely necessary, and he'll clearly communicate his long-term and short-term goals for your dental health. There is no other dentist like Dr. Mogharei! You're right, I haven't been to every dentist in the area but just from simply talking to friends and family I know that there is nothing comparable to this place. The desk staff is so personable and sweet. Stephanie really makes a point to make everyone feel welcomed. Even though the wait time is always short she will offer if you want anything while you're waiting. Whats even better is that it feels like she actually likes her job so nothing is faked or forced...she just genuinely cares. The stations are comfortable with a TV available and a back massage available as well. I personally like that the office chose a color scheme (purple) because it makes the whole place feel comfortable and put together. The hygienists are delicate, precise and communicate with how things are going in your mouth during the cleaning. The best part...? If you actually brush and floss everyday you have nothing to worry about!!! I live in San Diego but have kept Dr. Mogharei as my dentist, he is 100% worth the trip to LA. read more

The dental services are of average or above average quality. However, my problem is with their billing practices. I received a bill more than three years after last seeing the dentist. The bill did not specify what I was being billed for and threatened to send it to collections, despite that it was the first time I ever received a bill. When calling in, I was told that the dentist was conducting an "audit" and as a result is sending out bills for as far back as five years ago. 6 months after my first appointment, I have decided I will not be returning to Dr. Mogharei for my dental needs anytime in the foreseeable future. My first appointment was strange at best - hand wax, heating blankets, 3D movie glasses, and somewhat dingy exam rooms left me feeling claustrophobic and a bit odd. Dr. Mogharei was nice enough and explained what needed to be done but as soon as he left the room, I was briefed by the brusque office manager about the details of the pricey deep cleaning procedure. I had only missed one appointment since I had moved, were things really that bad in there?? Thankfully, for some strange reason, the manager said that the doctor would cover the costs of the deep clean since I was a new client. I thought this was awesome until the procedure was in progress. Very painful and hygienist didn't comfort me in the slightest. I left with a bloody mouth from a procedure that was free, yet probably unnecessary. What finally sealed the deal for me was when I returned the confirmation call from the same oh-so-friendly office manager today about my appointment, she was rude and curt with me and so I told her I'd like to cancel my appointment. Sorry Dr. M. but having a friendly support staff is #1 in my book. There's no reason to be rude, harsh, and unfriendly ever but it's a deal breaker when it involves being extremely vulnerable with my mouth open in your chair and sharp metal things prodding around. read more

I was was a bit suspicious when I saw all these 5-star reviews here and concerned when I noticed that the place was surrounded by car dealerships. Because that's the service you get here too: they work the up-sell like there is no tomorrow. They'll force "advanced" services that are of lower quality than the regular ones elsewhere. They'll try to scare you with what will happen to your teeth if you don't budge too. I also agree with the other reviewer's comment about the office manager's attitude and manners (the chubby one, not sure if there are others). Avoid this place to save yourself from frustration and having to find another dentist right away. read more

As a recent transplant to L.A., I was drawn to Dr. M's office by reviews touting a spa-like experience with paraffin hand treatments and video goggles, but quickly realized those are just there to distract you from the unethical practices going on at this place. They take a "worst case scenario" approach to scare you into undergoing expensive treatments and they were very shady about billing me for treatments they didn't perform. And boy, do they like to sell those veneers. Every time I went in, I was told more of my teeth needed to be veneered. The only reason I am giving the second star is because the receptionist and my regular hygienist were very nice. Now that I have a great dentist, I realize just how bad this place was and that good dentistry does not have to be excruciatingly painful (or painful at all). read more

I love my dentist AND his staff is excellent. Dr. Mogharei is warm and compassionate. Gladys is the best dental hygienist ever. She keeps me on my toes with how to get healthy beautiful teeth. She even makes "scaling" not painful. Their offices are done in soothing purple. Definitely friendly and warm staff just make a visit to the dentist easy!!! read more

I've been going to Dr Ali Mogharei for 2 years now. What a great dentist's office. The place has cool decor (purple walls), a modern feel, nice staff, and most importantly, state-of-the-art dentistry techniques (for instance, my old dentist would simply scrape my teeth with a sharp object- not here... they do it with some cool water machine (though I have to say there is a bit of a high piercing noise, but you'll get use to it). Their dentist chairs even have a built-in back massager! So glad I switched dentists. And they can even see you on the weekends once a month :) read more

I hadn't been to a dentist for over 4 years when I walked into Dr. Mogharei's office. My serious fear of dental offices had kept me away but my insurance is only valid for another month so I went in for a check up! I am so glad I found this doctor! He is the best dentist I've ever came across! His office resemble a spa! Paraffin hand treatment, massage chair, and movie glasses & headphones! Not to mention how absolutely caring and gentle the doctor & the staff are. He took the time to explain every single thing he was going to do and he was very sensitive to my anxiety and fears. I felt absolutely no pain through the process! A couple days later, his office called to check up on me! How nice! I can't say enough good things about Dr Mogharei and his staff without sounding like an advertisement. He is professional, understanding and compassionate. He prioritizes your needs. Explains upcoming concerns and how to hopefully correct them before they become a crises. I've never felt that he try's to oversell his services and will work with you to maximize your oral health while understanding cost concerns. read more

Just moved to the area and my boyfriend and I both were due for cleanings. I decided to go here based on the 5 star awesome yelp reviews and coupon in the paper for $65 cleaning, x-rays and consult. Let me tell you : ) I am excited to go back here. The whole staff is amazing, so friendly and really have a way of making you feel right at home with the lemonade, paraffin hand dip (my hands are now baby soft) the massage chair and movie glasses. They even gave me a warm soft blanket when I said I was chilly. : ) Dr. Mogharei has excellent bedside manner and really takes the time to explain what he is doing before and while doing it and is very straight forward and kind when discussing your consult. He is definitely one of the top dentists I have been to and I would highly recommend going to this dentist. Both my boyfriend and I were very satisfied and impressed. read more
