We've been on a few rides with Snow Canyon Trail and I highly recommend them…read more Mike is an awesome guide. But most importantly, you can tell they take great care of their beautiful horses. We have taken our young kids (at age 7) on these rides and they take great care of them, letting them ride alone, but guiding with the rope.

If you haven't seen Snow Canyon from horseback, are you really living? Well, yes, probably. But I'd…read moredaresay that you aren't living life to the fullest. This is an experience you won't soon forget, and one that anybody can do! What are you waiting for? Booking our reservations was painless. I made a phone call and spoke with Patty, who gave me a few options of times for our ride. We had a group of three-two adults and a teenager. (On the day of the ride, we we met another group of three that joined us.) She gave me instructions on where to go on the day of our ride, and sent them again via text with GPS coordinates so we could easily meet our guide. Mike, our guide, was fantastic. He was friendly, took some time up front to give us a quick orientation and then asked each of us about our horse riding experience so he could match us up with an appropriate horse. He was patient with us, as some of us had very little experience. The trail itself was not all the way flat, but not so challenging that a novice rider would struggle. There are a few areas where we went up hill and then a few where we went down. Mike advised us on proper posture to make it easier on the horse as we navigated some of that hilly terrain. At one point, he recognized that the teen in the group was getting a little frustrated with his horse. He gave him some instruction and then engaged him in conversation about music-something they had in common. I appreciated that Mike was able to include everyone in the group in some way. He's a good dude. After the ride, we were given some carrots to feed our horses. I loved that part! I think the horses appreciated it too. This may not be an activity that we will do every time we visit St. George, but it will definitely be on that we remember forever and bring along some friends to show them the beauty of Snow Canyon from a different perspective.

Absolutely worth every penny, every minute of our time spent on the ranch, and all the seconds over…read morethe phone with Jackson! There is a reason to everything that they tell you, and the process you go through to get to the most rewarding experience with these beautiful horses. If you lack patience, discipline, and are only looking for instant gratification, this experience is not for you. If you're not going to listen, and are not open - this experience is not for you. From the start, Jackson sets the pace for the process. Do NOT come here expecting your hand to be held. You need to hold your own and it's for good cause. This was the most beautiful experience that my family and I could ever have together with such amazing animals. You will be wrecked, because no other place does it like they do at Jacob's Ranch. What Josh, Michelle, and Annika do is so special. Jackson isn't lying when he says it's not a nose to tail experience. Be ready to get down and dirty, to work, and be a leader. We will never forget this experience and I don't recommend it for everyone but I do recommend it to those who are open and willing to learn and reap the rewards. My family and I never worked with horses, never been up this close to horses, and most especially never rode horses like this before. At the end of the day, we could proudly say that we did it! We rode them up and down hills, through narrow trails, trotted through open dessert, while the sun was high in the sky till it was beginning to set for the night. We were on this journey with a couple from SC, who have been on horse rides all over the world and they said they've never been to a place like Jacob's Ranch. Needless to say, at the end of the day- we were all so proud of ourselves and amazed at the adventure we had together!

Instead, he insulted me, saying I "don't know anything because of my age," and bizarrely tried to convince me to read the Quran while speaking poorly about other religions, and political stances, totally unprofessional and inappropriate for a business call. After the call, he rang me back 20 minutes later acting like he didn't remember me and insisted I sit through a 30-minute "discussion" about what the experience entails. Yet every time I said I was ready to hear it, he wouldn't stop with his condescending and abusive remarks. At that point, I realized booking with them wasn't worth the frustration. Based on other reviews, this is clearly a pattern, very odd, avoid at all costs!!

The scenery on this ride is undeniably beautiful. Riding along the backside of the Zion mountains…read moreprovides incredible views, and that part of the experience was something I genuinely appreciated. That said, a few things took away from what could have been a great experience. The horse I was assigned, Dash, had a very nervous temperament throughout the ride. She would frequently get startled and suddenly run forward, which made the ride feel unpredictable and unsafe at times. At one point she jolted so abruptly that I was almost bucked off, which ended up causing a pinched nerve that I'm still dealing with. Because of Dash's temperament I also couldn't ride near my partner, so we spent most of the ride separated. As first-time visitors to the area, I was also hoping to hear some history or information about the landscape we were riding through. Instead, there was very little guidance or storytelling during the ride. If it weren't for the light conversation from Wendell, the wrangler riding toward the back with me, the ride would have been largely silent. Another issue came at the very end of the experience. During the ride, the front wrangler offered to extend our original one-hour ride. No one in our group had asked for an extension -- it was presented to us as an option while we were already out on the trail. After we had finished the ride, gotten off our saddles, and were preparing to leave, we were then informed that the extension came with an additional $140 charge on top of the $224 we had already paid to book the ride. That cost had never been disclosed when the extension was offered. Had we known there would be an additional charge, we absolutely would have declined. Learning about it only after the ride was finished made the situation feel misleading and left us feeling taken advantage of. I don't want to disregard the beauty of the scenery or the time spent on the trail, but between the unsafe temperament of Dash, the lack of information shared during the ride, and the undisclosed charge for an extension that had been offered without mentioning the cost, it significantly impacted the experience. For those reasons, I feel a three-star review is fair. Hopefully this helps future guests make a more informed decision when booking.

Sunset, S'mores, and Stargazing Jeep Tour- If you only have time for one tour, do this one. You'll hop in a jeep (holds 8 people) and head off-road through Zion Ponderosa Resort to several scenic points. Watch the sunset paint the Zion skyline in golden light, incredible photo ops. Then you're taken to an observatory deck at 7,000 feet where you'll enjoy s'mores, a telescope, and one of the most beautiful night skies imaginable. We saw the Milky Way, constellations, and shooting stars. Perfect for all ages and absolutely unforgettable. The Crimson Canyon tour is a fantastic way to experience one Southern Utah's slot canyon. After a short UTV ride, you'll hike through stunning canyon terrain with several points where you climb rocks and shimmy between narrow passages, it sounds intimidating, but it's actually quite manageable. The hikes are pretty easy for anyone with a reasonable fitness level, and the payoff is incredible views of towering canyon walls and stunning formations.

They are in the rec building on the Zion ponderosa property, and have lots of gear and gifts for sale inside the area where you check in to get your shuttle ticket. Note there are only two bathrooms and most folks wanted to use them before we left for our ride to the trail head so you may have to wait a bit to use it! The ranch folks also seem to have breakfast in an adjacent room so there were people coming to and fro. The check in area to get your ticket is easy to find and the staff explain where to go/get picked up etc both there and while driving you out to the trailhead (ie you won't be confused about where to go). They charge $8pp round trip and the roads are HORRENDOUS so definitely if you want to make the hike, I'd use these folks. They have a shuttle service to the cable car area too.
