I highly recommend the Bene Ole which is a breakfast poutine: poached egg, eggs benedict sauce, potatoes, pickles, bacon. It's huge and VERY tasty. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have smoothies, your usual espresso selection like lattes, mimosas, and more. I highly recommend coming before noon. Around that time the place begins to become packed and it's a small spot. Seating is kind of smushed. I've seen groups of 6 before, 7 or more may be pushing it. They do take reservations I believe so maybe they'll accommodate you. Tip: ask for the orange hot sauce, they make their own and it's great on everything.

I had a fried chicken salad with naan. I like the combination of ingredients in this dish. It's tasty, it's a bit over seasoning. The dish was too salty for me. This happened to the full breakfast my friend ordered as well, too salty. I didn't try the fruit juice but apparently it's really popular. The place is small and always packed with people in the morning. It's better to come around noon.

He had been here before when he last…read morevisited Montreal and had good things to say, and since he was open to checking this place out again we thought it would be a good place to go. We were already exploring the area so it seemed like a natural fit, so off we went. My general assessment of Else's is that it is more of a neighborhood spot than a destination eatery, which is totally fine because usually those are some of the best spots. Upon entry, we were greeted by a large open dining area with tables scattered throughout and a bar along one of the back walls. The decor is casual, with a dark color scheme to match the bar setting. Their drink menu is larger than their food menu, but despite that they have a nice variety. I didn't see any pattern with the food - there was a mix of plate sizes and types of cuisines. The pulled pork sliders looked good so I went with those; the dish came with two sliders and a side of coleslaw. I really enjoyed this - there was a generous helping of pork in each slider and the sauce had a nice tang to it. I'm normally not a fan of slaw since it is usually cream-based, but this one wasn't so it was quite refreshing and a good contrast to the pork. Service was great, the entire team was friendly. Overall, this was a really good find in Montreal - if you're looking for something low-key with solid food then this would be ideal. I'm interested how the vibe changes at night, so I would be open to returning in the evening for a drink and to explore more of their menu.

The kind of place you wish you had in your neighborhood, so people would call your neighborhood "vibrant" too. The menu is small and eclectic (tacos, butter chicken, Mac 'n' cheese). I had a giant Moscow Mule to start, and ordered Butter Tofu, one of several vegetarian options. The rice was perfect and the sauce was good, though the large cubes of tofu were a bit bland themselves. Wifething had the fancy mac 'n' cheese, which was creamy and smooth. Endlessly busy on a Saturday night, but a good mix of two-tops and larger (8-10) groups. Great service and friendly staff!

It's a rather large restaurant, but was pretty dead - only 2 other tables when we arrived at 2:30pm on a Saturday long weekend. We should've taken this as our first red flag. We were seated quickly by an older waitress, but service from there went pretty downhill. We had just gotten off a flight, so we only wanted to have something light. We ordered a Philly Steak Sandwich and six appetizer wings to share - the waitress had a bit of an attitude saying things like "that's it? If you're not going to buy, then bye bye"... Maybe she was joking but that was a little iffy to us. As for the food... The steak sandwich was okay. Cheese and philly steak were good, but maybe there was a bit too much grease, because the toasted hotdog bun it came on was pretty soggy in the middle. Portion sizes were good. The appetizer wings came with the sauce on the side (appreciated) and were just your average wings. Service throughout the meal was non-existent. There were workers (maintenance?) who were switching out lightbulbs on several of the light fixtures. Both waitresses had their head down when walking and it took us several minutes to flag someone down, despite it not being busy at all.

I ordered breakfast with eggs, toasts, pancakes, homefries, and bacon. Bacon wasn't as crispy as I would like it but everything was yummy and came hot. I was pleasantly surprised to find on my plate a slice of orange, pineapple, and a couple blackberries. Prices were also similar to Denny's prices. Would definitely come here again. 4 instead of 5 stars because it's like a Denny's. It's good, but it's not the highest quality.
