I had to do some searching to find a place close by that I could find dried herbs & plants. Saw a lot out in Oakland but I was not trying to drive that far. Then I found Harvest House. It's an older store but the staff is friendly, it's clean, and the customers for the most part seem nice. I went in to get items to make a yoni Steam blend and foot detox. I spent about an hour there choose different herbs and weighing them. I ended up spending $17 for at least 15 herbs and two plastic containers. I thought it was going to be pretty and I wished I would have gotten more but I'll be back. They are open everyday and in its own area off Monument in Concord. read more

My friend is having bad allergies so the best remedy was to buy some local honey from Harvest House. Their honey sticks are from Woodland and it is $0.29 each. Be aware: Rude customer service and unsafe / tampered sanitizing products are sold there !!! My wife and I have been customer for +1 year - i have been quite happy until today shopping in this store. Do not buy any hand sanitizer product that is not properly sealed with plastic in this store. I bought 2 bottle of hand sanitizer at 70 degree of alcohol (or i thought) last week. One of the two bottle was filled mostly with water (you can easily recognize at the smell). The clerck there did not return the product (sure I did not have the ticket so this i can understand). What I did not like at all though is that she maintained alcohol was is there at the right level (even though you can easily tell at the odor), When i insisted this was mostly water, she implied that I may have swapped with water myself! Fresh, organic ingredients and great drinks (5/5 Green Stars, also). My first impression upon walking in was: this place deserves to be busier! Maybe it was a quiet time (Friday, around 7 pm) but I guess the fact that it's quiet is good news for shoppers as there was no line at checkout :-) Service was friendly at checkout and people in the store offered to help. I was most excited about the huge variety of bulk foods & the fact that so many were organic and reasonably priced. I bought some organic Brazil nuts, which were cheaper than most other places (certainly cheaper than Whole Foods) at $12 / lb. Was also happy to see that they had organic Arborio rice (also very reasonably priced at $3.49 / lb) and bought some of that too. The rice was turned into delicious risotto that evening and the nuts were very fresh, judging by their taste and crunchiness. They also have quite a lot of things on sale - cheapo organic Kettle chips and a new-to-me brand of kale chips. As well as stocking most of the staples that I buy regularly, they also introduced me to a lot of new products - even the bulk rice section had several items (e.g., Jade Pearl rice and Madagascar Pink rice) that I'd like to come back to try. I'm also giving Harvest House 5/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: * They have a huge bulk food section - over 900 items. Buying food from the bulk section is the best way to avoid packaging waste, of course (BYO bags and reuse them). * A good proportion of the bulk foods are organic. * Each bulk food container lists the supplier and country of origin - useful for figuring out if it's an ethical product. * For example, many of the rice varieties are from Lundberg farms, a wind-powered pioneer of organic rice production in the US. Several of their Lundberg rice varieties are organic, but Lundberg employ some sustainable farming practices for their non-organic rice too. * Most of the other brands in the store also rank well for sustainability in their categories. * They have a well-chosen selection of ethical plant-based foods, from Quorn "chicken" nuggets and flaxseed tempeh to Miyoko's vegan butter and Ripple milk. * For conventional dairy, they stock the more ethical suppliers such as Strauss (which comes in reusable glass bottles that the store takes back). SUMMARY Why didn't I go here earlier? Harvest House is a well maintained, incredible health food store in Concord very near to Costco on Monument. If you're trying to eat healthier, this shop has it all! BACKGROUND The older I get, the more attentive I am about health issues (it's never too late :) Lately I've tried to lose more weight (11 lbs so far in the last 6-7 months) and tried to eat more smaller meals. But of course, there are the bad days too :) One of the biggest, most effective changes is regulating my breakfast to lunch meals to less than 150 cals per serving. That in of itself a lot harder than you think. THE SHOP AND THE GOODS Wow, there's no way I could describe it all. They have all the vitamins and supplements that you need, but also basic cooking ingredients, specialty items, etc are all sold at Harvest House. My initial visit consisted of buying some gluten free bread, raw honey, and some organic almond butter. Of course eating health and esp. organic is gonna burn a big ol' hole in your wallet and HH's prices are typical of health food stores. But the quality of the bread (thanks to a very good recommendation from one of their staff members) and the honey and nut butter were great recommendations. SERVICE Incredibly knowledgeable staff who've actually tried most of their own products. RETURN VISIT? Three times already in the past 5 weeks. Yes yes and yes! I go here mainly for one thing-bulk herbs and spices. You can bring your own container and they will weigh it (to calculate it out the cost) and then fill it up. You can get everything from bulk herbal or caffeinated tea to herbs to spices and cooking basics. They also have a large variety of vitamins and often have sales. I believe they just lowered their prices on most items also which is good since they tended to be a bit more expensive. I will keep coming back. FYI no produce here. I have been coming to Harvest House for about 10 years and thought it was time for a review. I love the wide array of food in bulk. I bring my own containers and the staff are always happy to tare them for me before I fill them with food. They have hundreds of bulk items for sale, including pasta, nut butters, baking ingredients, herbs, candies, granola, and many snacks. I usually just buy bulk here, but they also have many natural cleaning and healthcare products.  I would highly recommend Harvest House to anyone! I appreciate that I can get the exact amount of food I need and avoid some plastic packaging.  I went to Harvest House today but could not use my own containers (due to the coronavirus pandemic). The last couple of times I've visited Harvest House I've been really impressed that they carry some items that I haven't even seen at Whole Foods. They carry unique vegan items such as Victoria Vegan Pasta sauces, Not-Beef and Not-Chick'N Boullion and a variety of Daiya and Tofutti frozen pizzas. In addition, they have a great bulk food selection that tops Whole Foods Walnut Creek. Harvest House has been around even before Whole Foods entered the health market scene but I somehow have forgotten about them throughout the years as I like to do my one-stop shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. This store is total perfection, a slice of holistic heaven in the middle of all the mayhem that is Monument Blvd. Let me count the ways Harvest House will make your life better... You don't need to be a card carrying weirdo to enjoy it here, but it helps a bit. If your Concord heart longs for Berkeley's spirit, this is your place. You will definitely meet a mix of people during your time here, but every single one of them will be friendly, from the staff to the patrons. And the experience starts in the parking lot - I'm so grateful this specialty shop has a dedicated lot that I've never struggled to find a spot in. Though many needs can be met here, I generally shop here for clean beauty items (like rosewater and good quality soaps and lotions - Sephora quality without the obnoxious pricepoints), essential oils, and good quality supplements. There's also great options for other wellness and spirituality items, like meditiation candles and sage bundles. Spending too much money on these items from Amazon led me to investigate this store, and I'm never looking back. This is also a great resource for organic and gluten free basics - cooking oils, cereals, baxing mixes, lot of good items that any standard grocery store would have but with those small tweaks to easily fit dietary preferences without astronomical upcharge. They also have an incredible selection of dry goods priced per pound. Nuts, cereals, chocolate treats, dried fruit - you name it! I'm especially fond of their goji berry trail mix, and their lemon blueberry flax granola. If you've never been, devote a little time to really exploring this shop, it's bigger than it looks from the outside and there are great and unexpected options tucked into many corners. I have lived in Danville for thirty yrs. never returned anything. I bought a nose spray for my allergies, and asked the checker if I could bring it back if it didn't work?, he said let me ask manager, and he said yeah if it's not working, as it turned out it didn't spray good,sometimes it wk, and sometimes not.. the guy behind the counter I had not seen before, and he was so argumentative... And rude... And said no I couldn't return it... And I told him what the guy a few days earlier said to me... Then I came back again because I called talk to the manager supposedly, and he said bring it back will take it back... So I walked back down there the next day with my son so he could see how they treated me... he was pretty upset. Parking is pretty good here. The store is legit! It's hard to come across this type of store. It's pretty big and has a very large variety of things. I purchase mainly organic so I know the flavor. This place accommodates vegans, vegetarian,gluten allergies,& any other special diet people have. Everything they have in here is natural. They have a huge bulk selection. They sell food, shampoo, snacks, & a huge variety of soaps. I think in all of the Bay Area the soap here is the cheapest. It is a little expensive here but eating clean makes you feel healthier. They do have coupons for the store. If someone has never tried clean eating just know the taste is different but give it time . If you are trying to eat better I definitely recommend this store.
