As we were walking through we wanted seeded yellow watermelon. As we're standing at the booth another gentleman walked up to help us and said that he had some. He told us to drive up and over to his booth. Great gentleman and really appreciated talking with him. His name is Walter and gave us a good deal on the watermelons. We ended up leaving with 5 of them. Two yellow, three red ones and they were very good. We'll definitely be going back for vegetables and possibly some plants, as they had a nice variety of those as well.

We went on a Saturday afternoon (the market closes at 3 PM), and strangely, it felt empty. There's no public restroom. If you need to go, your best bet is to find a nearby restaurant and buy something to use their bathroom. If you choose to walk, be prepared for strong smells and scattered trash. There's a plant nursery tucked away in the back with beautiful flowers, but unless your car is right there, good luck carrying a big pot back. That being said, the produce is fresh, local, and often better in price and quality than what you'll find in the supermarket and other grocery stores. You might find tropical fruits and vegetables not found anywhere else.

A fun fall date!…read more Southern Belle Farm, located in McDonough, provides hours of wholesome fun and free parking. My wife and I arrived on a warm October day to enjoy the pumpkin patch and U-pick flowers. We arrived in the afternoon, but there was plenty of selection and nothing was "picked over." I paid $16 for a quart sized plastic vase for my U-pick flowers. They sell gallon sized buckets as well. Scissors and water are provided. Be mindful of bees in the field. They won't trouble you if you don't trouble them. There is an area in the back for you to arrange the flowers; I took full advantage of this because this trip doubled as a photo shoot. There were all types of people enjoying the farm; IG girls, families, even one couple using a wagon full of pumpkins as a baby announcement. Pumpkins range from $5-$20 each depending on size and breed. A nice young man named Luke helped us corral our pumpkins and carry them to our car. I didn't know they offered that service, but we tipped well. If you run up an appetite, they have a snack bar with fritters, ice cream, and lemonade. I'll be back next fall!

Parking was calm and plentiful and we weren't bumping into other strawberry pickers left and right. It costs about $20 for a large bucket (which you get to keep) and you pay $1 per person to access the fields. We feared we may have missed peak season but there were still plenty of ripe strawberries to choose from. It is also well organized with the staff directing where folks should go. After we picked our buckets worth, we grabbed a huge fresh lemonade from a parked truck, did some shopping in the cute store, and got a strawberry ice cream. I have to admit this was a bit of a disappointment especially based on all of the rave reviews. To us it tasted like it was pre-packaged and came from the freezer. The strawberries were frozen/rock solid and while they were plentiful it would have been great if they were softer or appeared as though it was fresh churned. Otherwise we really enjoyed the experience and can't wait to go back for picking other fruits throughout the year.

A trip around the world and a walk down memory lane…read more It's been decades since I stepped foot inside the Buford Highway Farmers Market, and being back felt like a beautiful reunion. The last time I walked these aisles, I was with my mama, Donna Theresa. So much has changed since then, yet the soul of this place remains as vibrant as ever. It feels more expansive than I remember. A true global treasure tucked right here in the city. I'm still obsessed with how they organize the aisles by country. In just one afternoon, I traveled from Korea to Eastern Europe to Central America, no passport required! I was officially "team sample" the moment they offered! Unlike the heavy, sugary profile of traditional American cakes, these were a masterclass in balance. I tried the Neapolitan, a stunning phyllo-layered creation that was light, buttery, and perfectly textured. But the Lemon Cream Cake? It stole the entire show. It looked picture-perfect on the shelf, and the taste was even better. It was so bright, airy, and just the right amount of decadence. Coming back here wasn't just a grocery trip; it was a win for my palate and my heart. Now that I'm back in the area, you can bet this is becoming a regular stop on my rotation. I purchased a pack of tofu along with some other items on March 11. I open the fridge a few days later on March 15, finally ready to prepare the tofu, just to see that the exp date on the pack was March 10. This picture was taken March 15 upon this discovery. I meant to update this review a while ago. I just can't spend money here anymore knowing that I'm liable to accidentally purchase old products. As customers, we should not have to be this vigilant at a grocery store... it's ridiculous.
