I was on my way for a weekend in VT, and stumbled across this cute lil' brewery near our final destination. There is some outside seating and the indoor is cozy & unassuming. We tried the "Day Job" NEIPA which had a pleasantly fresh flavor with abundant fruit undertones. We also split a "Dad Bod" which was nice, with a bit more bitterness & subtle earthiness. Here for a beer and dinner just past opening time. A friendly bartender and a lovely fellow drinker who asked me about my travels and suggested a few things I might need to see while I'm passing through New England. The beer? One of their delicious New England IPAs. It was cold and smooth and quite flavorful. Dinner? I reviewed the menu and while it all looked great - tacos, enchiladas, nachos and burritos - none of it would come even close to my keto diet. I simply enjoyed the beer and headed onwards. My husband, another couple and I stopped by mid day to check out this brewery on a Saturday afternoon. The vibe inside is a comfortable with a dart board on the wall and old album stacks behind the bar. We sat at the bar to have a beer and a bite to eat. I would guess the two guys working behind the bar were stoned or recouping from a late night. They struggled to handle the crowd of us four, and about 4 people on the other side of the bar. It was one drink at a time and then move slowly, very slowly, over to the next person., There were only 3 beers available on the board, the others had been erased since the kegs were empty. I ordered a brown beer and a pretzel. My friends got the hard cider and a pretzel too. When they poured the cider, they had to erase that from the board as well. My pretzel was brought out in it's store bought package and then tossed into the microwave. It was put on a plate, handed to me with a gelatinous beer cheese. It was the last beer cheese so the bar tender asked my friends if they want to share mine. It was nice of the bartender to offer mine to my friends. I was happy to share it with my friends but none of us wanted to eat that gelatinous cheese sauce. I asked for some mustard but they never got around to grabbing it for me. My husband went around the bar eventually and got the mustard bottle. The beer and the hard cider were very good. The pretzel wasn't. If your going to be open in the day as a craft brewery (and a coffee shop too) you should have some beer available and staff who are ready to work, Just my opinion. read more

My fiancee and I love to go here, it's a comfortable, rustic bar with good beer. They have outdoor seating which is in a great spot for people watching and there are a few other watering holes nearby so it's a nice addition to a mini pub crawl. A few years ago Bennington had an amazing Mexican restaurant called Rattlesnake Cafe that many people dearly miss but the owner of Harvest used to own the cafe and does Rattlesnake takeout on Friday nights. The food is still DELICIOUS!! Most of my weekends will probably start off with his takeout, I highly, HIGHLY recommend trying Harvest if you haven't already. read more

The food tasted OK. The decor was OK to run down. When we first walked in the two girls working there just stared at us. We asked if we could sit anywhere and they said yes but didn't point. We sat at the only table that didn't have clutter on it from other people that had just left it there. The table obviously needed to be wiped down but had not. The menu was on the chalkboard behind the counter and some of it was in fine print so we asked if they had menus and the girl just pointed. We ordered the food and two of the three meals came as ordered. The third meal was totally different from what we ordered. I asked her about what I did order and and she just gave me this attitude and said oh I guess I made the wrong order. My order came much later then the other two orders and I had to ask about it. When I asked about it she looked at me and give me an attitude again and told me it's being made. The place looks like it was run by a bunch of liberal hippies that didn't get the memo. If you are the owner and read this you need to train your employees to give a shit about the service that they offer. oh i asked if they would fill my growler with one of the beers they had on tap. The girl replied I have to ask she came back only to tell me NO. how does a business intend to selling your product if you fill the growler. Bottom line avoid this place until they get their shit together. read more

This place was so cute. Really liked it. They have a decent food menu with vegan and vegetarian options. They give out free peanuts so we just munched on those. The server at the bar was super nice and playing really cool records. They have kombucha and beer on tap. There are also games and tables for families. read more

I love that someone called this "Bennington's Best-Kept Secret". That's an apt description. Just to be clear: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE, OR BE WITH, A MEMBER TO COME HERE. Harvest Brewing is a member-supported Co-op. Anyone can come hang out, drink, eat, enjoy live music, play games, watch films, and engage in conversation. A very different type of place from the others in Bennington, Harvest is constantly evolving and its popularity is well-deserved. Sean and Lydia provide a place in town for good beer (taps, cans, bottles). Their tap list is impressive and usually includes a cider. They also have a limited selection of wine. The bars are coated in chalkboard paint and cleaned every night. There is chalk on the bar (or just ask) and you'll find everything from tic tac toe to some pretty amazing drawings (Lydia drew a face one night that was incredible). There are always peanuts on the bar but Harvest also has food, and if there is a bowl on the menu: get it. The food is limited -- don't go expecting choice. As a general rule, there is one bowl provided that can usually be made vegetarian. It's a grain or other starch with veggies, meat, and some kind of sauce. Very fresh and very delicious. The last few months have also seen charcuterie on the menu -- always excellent, too. But the bowls are the star -- Sean puts them together and they always work. PRO TIP: if there is an option to get chips and salsa get it. The salsa is the recipe from The Rattlesnake Cafe (moment of silence, please) and will bring back memories to townies of times past. If the bowl or charcuterie don't get you excited, outside food is welcome and Cilantro is right next door so grab some Mexican food and bring it on over. There is often live music on the weekends by local artists like Beard & Glasses, and Sam's band that goes by a different name each time. These guys are kick ass, take requests, and are incredibly talented and infectious. Open Wednesday through Sunday, there are games around (or bring your own) and foosball, ping pong and darts. There's talk of dart and ping pong leagues starting up, too. On Sunday nights there's a movie... this month is Bill Murray month, October was spooky stuff. Sean's vinyl and CD collections are impressive (although don't ask him to play Billy Joel) and he always has great tunes on when there isn't a band. I'm all over the place with this review but there's a LOT going on at Harvest. It's the perfect place for a fun night with cool people -- nothing crazy -- and different from the other spots around town. Pop in, consider a membership ($1 off every beer!), check out the bands, bring a book or a board game and enjoy a great crowd. Important Note: Harvest Brewing is not a bar in the traditional sense. Those looking to drink off their blues (or faces) should look elsewhere. Sean, the owner, is really nice, a great chef and extremely knowledgable about all things food and beer. He also has a massive vinyl collection in the brewery. We went to Harvest Brewing with our friend Kris who is a member. The beer was great as was the food and music. There is one item on the menu. They perfect it during the beginning of the week and then bring it out for patrons when they are open. When we were there it was a curried chicken over rice with a generous sprinking of Kale. It was exceptional. The place was pretty small. Room for 4 or 5 tables outside and about the same inside. A bar runs down the left side for about half the length of the room and there is a small stage at the far end. The night we were there was a kick-ass band which, as I understand, plays under various names depending who is playing with the band that night. For us they were "Gaggle of Online Throne Geese" . If you can figure out what name they are playing under you should check them out. This place is definitely the place to be in this town. If I lived there I would certainly be a member. read more

Had such a great time here today! Dog friendly so we were able to bring our pup Rosie inside and everyone loved her! Staff very friendly and welcoming. Just a chill, fun atmosphere with darts, foozeball, and other games. They have a huge vinyl record collection and play great music. Nachos & pretzels were yummy too. This new venture by former Rattlesnake Cafe restaurant owner is a refreshing addition to Bennington's downtown. The Neil Young "Harvest" theme and casual setting (long bar, couch options, cozy chair options, chairs with table, outdoor people watching options) allows for one to meet friends casually, to work on a project, or to sit at the bar and see what record is spinning. Members can brew and get reduced rate on beverages, and non-members just pay the regular price which is comparable to other breweries and bars with good beer. When available, beer brewed there is on tap. There is one food option on the menu each night. If you don't like it, you can go next door to Cilantro's and bring in something else to eat. The food on the menu is delicious and filling, and I enjoy the Thai options the best. PS: If you have a peanut allergy, peanuts are the bar snack, so this may not work for you. It's really a gathering place, and Sean is very helpful and wants this Brewery Coop to be a space for community building. He helped me out a few times when I needed to borrow a scale for produce, and he is welcoming to AT hikers seeking a place to relax, grab a beer and write some postcards home.
