This review has been a long-time in happening but it's mostly my fault for not knocking it out…read moreweeks ago. I was late to the pandemic dog/puppy party, I started work with a new shop that didn't require me to do the regular run & gun previous shops had me doing, and I finally felt ready to get a new puppy after two years of grieving on the loss of my last girlie. As soon as my new girlie had all her shots, one of the things I wanted to start doing early is getting socialized with as many different dogs as I could with her. Woodstock Canine was the first I visited and the only one that would take her as young as she was at the time. As time went by, she also visited a few other doggie daycare locations, one I avoided will go nameless, but it was a huge deal on Nextdoor about how they treat their four-legged clients and I promptly scratched them off the list. Another doggie daycare was going along great until I had to bolt out of town for a business emergency and let her stay the night at this 'other' location, I had gotten an alert from their staff that she wasn't walking great and was wondering if I could take her to my vet. The vet discovered that whatever the daycare/boarding facility used to clean the place burned a couple of her pads and I was out $900 in vet bills because their staff was probably more interested in Facebook updates than client health. One other scare sealed it for me never taking her there again. Woodstock Canine Clubhouse is exclusively where she goes for daycare and an emergency boarding if I get stuck with something, or I forgot about a party happening and didn't add it to Google Calendar. My girlie starts bouncing around when I make the right turn onto the road where Woodstock Canine Clubhouse is on and as soon as we're parked, she can't wait to get inside and play with her friends with the staff and all her other four-legged friends on the inside. At the end of the day, and as soon as we're barely out of their lot, she's crying that I'm taking her away from her friends, but that doesn't last long as she's fast asleep on the drive home. After dinner at home, she's fast asleep until around midnight when she asks to do her business (and dinner has digested) where she makes her way to the couch, bed, sometimes the crate and is back into a night of sleep only I can dream about having. Don't take my word on this, give your dog a day off and give Woodstock Canine Clubhouse a try, and see if your results mirror mine, I'm certain you won't be disappointed.

I have honestly communicated my feelings to the Marty, the owner and rather than apologizing or offering a solution, she denies and calls my complaints & feelings "libelous " This review is an honest commentary on both my and my husbands' experiences at Good Dog Academy. PROS Close to our Home Requires pre-screening and yearly Vet reports Manager Hector is FANTASTIC! Our (allowed one-time only) inspection of the inside play area was large and clean. CONS Owner Marty - She has repeatedly offended, been rude and talked down to us. She displays a superiority complex & attitude that she is doing her Us a favour and her rules and expertise should NEVER BE QUESTIONED. She refers to her Facility as a "Club" And promptly corrected me; in her words: "You are mistaken. GDA is not a boarding facility. It is a private club for qualified members and dogs" During our first boarding, she Called us in Europe!! to tell us that our healthy, bright dog was malnourished & suggested she should be fed the food that IS SOLD AT HER FACILITY. (I should have gotten a clue then!) Expects blind trust. When I first asked her if we could see where our dog will sleep in her home; her response was "You want to see My Bedroom??!!" So That never happened, but she has never even sent us a photo or videos during inhome boarding or outside play. We get photos of her inside the barn only. When I expressed my concerns, these were Her words: "To suggest that I care for the dogs in the club who stay here in any other manner than I have told you is disparaging and libelous. I am not going to indulge this negativity. It is not only beneath my dignity, but Yours as well." REALLY!!!!!! And the straw that broke MY camels back; After the last boarding, this past 2 weeks, I simply questioned the odd $total of the charges that she texted me. She was rude and acted offended that I would even Think to question her. I was told that was the total, but also, Her words "since we are providing a service to you, just like a hair salon; you should consider paying a gratuity over and above the boarding fees". WHAT!!!! Now I am expected to add a gratuity for a service that I am banned from seeing, that I'm never allowed to question and that I have no actual proof since my dog cannot talk!! If it hadn't been for our positive experience with Hector, we would have left GDA long ago. Lesson learned Enough said. She will now reply and deny all and threaten me with libel as she has done in the other negative (Google) reviews.

The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. The classes are incredibly valuable too. The results speak for themselves.
