We were on a road trip to Wales, charging up the M6 and were in need of lunch. On driving through…read moretown, we saw something about being the best in Staffordshire or something - so we turned around and gave it a shot. We sat in the pub area around 1pm on a weekday and it was buzzing. The restaurant was casual, English pub, but had a very nice, upscale feel to it. They have quite a few beers on tap and since we were there in winter, they had mulled wine. We got the chicken club, fish and chips, and 2 people got the pan seared sea bass. Everyone was very happy with their lunch. I ate the club and was very happy with my meal. The service was great as well. If you are flying through on the M6 and are looking for a break to grab a good meal, stop in at the Littleton Arms.

This place is a firm hometown family favourite…read more I mean, we're on a first name bays with a lot of the staff. It's hard to review a single time, as I've been here so often I forget to check in. The bar is well stocked, isually a good range of beers and ales on tap, including one of my summer favourites, frulii. They even have prosecco on tap, good gin list, which is always a fab selling point for me, and a good range of wines, spirits, and a dinky but varied cocktail list. Pick and mix of sweet, nuts, wasabi peas etc behind the bar, and excellent tasty bar bites, cake, fudge, allsorts on the bar, which always has arrangements of fresh flowers from across the road. I am yet to have a disappointing visit here. Honestly, nights out, Chrostmas eve drinks, meals as a family, as a couple, as huge tables of extended family, the food is always great, fresh local produce, hearty meals, great range of meat, game, veggies, your lot. I would be surprised if someone couldn't find something they liked on the menu. Hot drinks are great too, afternoon tea is good value and super tasty, and it's changed hands a couple of times in the 18 years I grew up there, and the prices have risen ofc, but it's always been pretty excellent, with great rooms and breakfast to boot too. Would happily recommend to anyone, and worth travelling to if you like your good pub grub!

We went there today for lunch just the two of us , first time the wife had been able to walk for a…read morewhile so we gave it a try .... Before I get to the negative bits I have to say the food tasted good and looked good too , it's a nice looking place with plenty of room .... To be fair I expected it to be busier at 2 on a Sunday ? Anyway , before we ordered I asked the young waitress if I could 'swap' the Cheese , Leek & potato pie for the vegetarian tart as I don't like cranberries ..... she said she'd ask. Now then, bear in mind that the whole swap would just involve taking the tart off a plate and replacing it with the pie so I was really optimistic. Anyway she came back and said " The only way we can do that is if you pay for both " so I just clarified that she was asking me to pay for BOTH meals at a price of £31:00 !! She said "yes that's right £31:00 " ‍.......so I checked again with the lady who booked us in earlier and she agreed that I would have to pay for BOTH meals to enable them just to swap a pie for a tart !! You can see from the photo that they could have fitted both on a the same plate. Anyway it all went downhill from there , no horseradish sauce with the wife's beef , a teaspoon of red cabbage , a teaspoon of clotted cream , the mixed berry compote was actually cherry compote, no one came to see if our food was ok , no hand towels or hand dryer in the loo , the people on the next table were told they would have to pay extra for a small jug of gravy as it was " special Sunday gravy " When I left I did tell them what I thought , none of it was personal but the pricing strategy probably explains why there were so many empty tables ? The lady on the till knocked £18 off my bill and apologised but to be honest , we won't be going there again ...... it's not local and situations like this help you choose where or where not to go ..... I have to say again that everything tasted good and looked good but what a shame.

Great place for reasonably priced and very tasty grub. The staff are very friendly and polite…read more The place is usually heaving and you usually have to get there early to guarantee a seat, especially for 4 or more people. They only take bookings for 6 or more people which is a real pain if you are trying to book in advance. Have turned up there and not been able to get a seat which highlights its popularity. Get there early for a good seat and great food!

This place has been REVAMPED AND REOPENED this year, and become immediately popular…read more Brunning and Price have bought out the venue, the are the owners of one of my local favourites, the Fox at Chetwynd Aston, and The Woodbridge in Ironbridge- these places are freaking quality, gastro pubs, in pretty venues with generous outdoor seating. I had never been here before before it closed previously, but I can definitely see why it was a wedding venue. Little neat gardens, a sun trap of terrace seating over a pool filled with koi carp and ducks. Grab a print out menu, and walk up to the bar to order, waiters will do any running back and forth after this. I went for a quick lunch with my friends mum to discuss her upcoming nuptials, and it didn't disappoint, we sat in the baking sun, me with a good layer of factor 50 on, and plumped for sandwiches. It was lovely. We also decided on puddings, my ginger and rhubarb trifle was absolutely gorgeous. As with the other nearby places, expect a wicked gin list, good ales, a full, busy bar, but you want to come here to eat as well, it's not really a pub just for drinking, the tables fill up quickly and you will probably want to book ahead to make sure you get in there! Lovely staff, lovely food, good bar, get down and try it out.

As you may all know by now, I get married next year and I have been searching for the perfect place…read moreeverywhere. So after booking a place and then not hearing anything from them for months only for them to tell us they had booked another couple for their wedding instead, we thought it best to look elsewhere. Then we found the Oakley which is a gorgeous place located in a beautiful village and we fell in love with it. First the address: The Oakley Kiddemore Green Road Brewood Staffordshire ST19 9BQ We found the Oakley very easily considering it is in a lovely little village called Brewood which is apparently a winner of best kept village for quite a few years running. It is gorgeous and right in the country and so quiet you feel like you have gone on holiday although it is not too far away from my house. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the Oakley from a junction on the M6 so as you can imagine it is easy to get to and very accessible. The Oakley is set back with a fantastic car park which is huge. It is a gigantic white building that looks very welcoming which is always nice. When you walk in there is a massive fish tank filled with some lovely fish and the main reception. Now for weddings there are two rooms available which is great so I will let you know a little bit about them now. The smaller room is beautiful and quite huge which is nice and offers panoramic views over the gardens which are simply stunning. It has its own private little bar and is a short walk away from the bigger bar. It is massive anyway and can house around 100 people so more than big enough to accommodate my wedding party. I should mention at this point that both rooms can be used for other parties and private functions too so not only weddings. The larger room is fabulous and can house up to 200 people I should imagine. It has a spectacularly large dance floor if you fancy like having a lot of people who can dance at your wedding. This room can have a door that takes you straight out onto the terrace and into the fabulous gardens which is very nice indeed. Now the terrace area is fantastic with seats and also a large area for barbeques if you want them. The gardens are fabulous though and are set around a massive lake which is so picturesque. There is a small centre piece in the middle which is lovely and you can walk all around and across the couple of bridges they have there. The setting is beautiful and it does take your breath away because you walk into the place not even thinking there is this massive area of garden which is so gorgeous. They have rooms at the Oakley too so you can stay the night if needs be. Now if you want to just visit the Oakley for food they do serve Sunday lunch for about £15 per head and it was delicious. They had a good choice of roasts and they give you a lot of food which is always good to see. The staff are very pleasant and you can sit on a table looking out onto the gardens which is lovely on a Sunday afternoon. Hire of the rooms is at £1500 - 1700 which is very reasonable and accommodation is around the £60 per room mark and you get a breakfast with that. In conclusion I am going to tell you the Oakley is simply stunning and if you want a party, wedding or corporate do there it is worth visiting. If you fancy like a meal with some superb views then I recommend going to. Love it there!!!! Thanks for reading. xxx P.S. This has been posted on other sites but always by me katygriff
