Then, we visited the recently renovated children's playground that has a large playground structure, swings, a zipline, and a warped wall. There are also at least two bathrooms located throughout the park- always a plus. Oh, and there's also two dog parks and a swimming pool, plus ample parking. If you're looking for a fun place to take your kid or go for a walk or run, this is a great spot. It gets quite crowded in the summer, but hey, it's popular for a reason.

I give the builders a lot of props because this place makes the adults want to play to . A creative way to keep everyone engaged and create some fun memories together. A sturdy playground and I also like that it's spacious enough so everyone can enjoy. I like the seated zip line they have here. The design of this park sets itself apart from other parks . Overall a great experience on a hot sunny day. Plenty of shaded areas to keep cool in the Texas heat. Fun spot if you're in the Rockwall area!

Easy to get to especially if you're on the Dallas side of the metroplex. - Holes are wide open with minimal obstacles. I imagine the only way you'll lose a disc is if you throw it in the street or maybe deep enough into the trees. The walk is also pretty easy. - Clean and well taken care of. Everyone is respectful and considerate of their game pace as well as their location on the hole. Mind your manners and yell fore. :) Cons - I personally hate the level of traffic on the course. Most people are fine with it, but I like being able to take my time and not feel rushed. (Not that any one has ever made us feel that way, it's just my own personal anxiety peeking through!) - I didn't necessarily get the best read on where all the holes were and how they were set up. If we didn't end up tagging along with a fella that was familiar with the course, I don't know if we would have found all of the holes. It was just a little confusing for me. We will for sure be back at some point, but I'd probably choose from another one of my favorites.

First off, we should discuss location, location, location! I am a 75074 based pet sitter and this park is very close to my home base. The Plano Parks & Recreation lists the following address for Shawnee Park: 3380 Sherwood Drive, Plano, Tx 75074. So I don't where the info disconnect on whether it is a 75023 or a 75074 park but I do know it is a great community park. This neighborhood park has it all, including the following: disc golf course, hike bike and dog walking trails, playground, sports practice fields (first come, first served), restrooms, grills, picnic tables, sand volley ball court, and a small lake with a fishing pier. The pavilion holds a maximum of 50 people (no limit on the number of dogs and pets that I am aware of) and can be your rental as follows: resident rental rate $50, non-resident rental rate $100, $75 deposit requirement and other fees may apply. Amusements/sound allowed. This is a excellent park for walking, playing and exercising your fur babies. If you and your dog/dogs haven't had a chance to spend any time together then you need to correct that over-sight real soon.

There were about three other groups spread across the 18 baskets, so no crowd issues to deal with. The course appears to have been laid out originally as 9 holes, and then they added 9 more pretty much on top of the original 9 (you end up making a circular circuit twice). It's a little confusing at first figuring out which basket you are targeting, and where the next tee-off pad is, but everything is pretty well marked (although we never did find the basket for #17). For the most part, the holes are pretty wide open. Several are straight approaches across open field. A few do take you a little ways into the woods though. I'd call this an intermediate course, but a beginner would find it fun as its not too technical. The only advanced part is a couple of the distances and some curve approaches. There are a couple of ravines to watch out for, otherwise, pretty minimal chance of losing your disc as the trees and shrubbery aren't real thick. I'll definitely play this one again.

The trail is good for hiking, walking, running, and road biking. The trail is also accessible year-round. Dogs are welcomed on the trail but should be leashed. There is a lot to do there depending on your preference. The trail runs through some trees and eventually leads to a nice little scenic lake. The trail is made of concrete so its great for running , biking or anything else with wheels. The lake would be a good spot for a picnic too but be warned there's a lot of walking before you get to the lake. There's also a nice playground for the kids as well. I would avoid coming on to the trail if there was any rain in the previous days because the trail path can easily flood making it very unpleasant and too wet to cross. There is a soccer park close by if you want a wide open field as well. Check it out if your looking for something to do on a nice day!

I'm a virgin... Disc Golfer that is, and this course took my virginity…read more While on vacation visiting friends in McKinney Texas, I was trying to be a good house guest and show interest in my friends passion for Disc Golf. He truly is a walking commercial for the sport. All you have to do is mention Disc Golf and he's off on a long rant about everything there is to know about the game. He stuffed enough useless Disc Golf knowledge into me to give birth to a sextuplet of frisbees. But I love anyone who has a passion for something, so I listened. On the third day of this visit, he asked me the question I'd been dreading to hear for our last 3 visits! "Do you want to go play a little Disc Golf with me?" My heart stopped as I tried to think of something clever to say to get out of it. But the best thing that came to mind was "Sure, why not". My mind was laced with all kinds of expletive words that I'd rather not repeat, but when my 11 year old son showed interest and wanted to come too, my defenses went down like Will Robinson's robot loosing power. So we packed up the gear (my friend was so excited he even gave us our own tote bag of frisbees) and headed to Towne Lake Park. I'm a black man if you couldn't tell by my pic, and I'm not really very excited about baking in the sun, especially since this was a 107 degree day. However, the course is almost entirely designed underneath the canopy of trees, so you are well protected from becoming a Boston baked bean. We met up with one of his disc golf buddies who also takes the sport very seriously and even had a luggage style tote for his discs that doubled as a chair. I was totally trippin'! But I must say, I had a great time. This is a fun sport and I was very excited that my son was really into it. What can I say? I'm a dad who just loves his boy! If you half give this sport a chance, I think you will find it to be VERY entertaining. As for my friend, when we left McKinney at the end of our stay, he went on a road trip to North Carolina to play in the championships and came in 47th out of 288 players in the PDGA World Championships! Way to go buddy!
