The food menu looked like all the meals were all able to be "Home made" All the usual pub food, nothing too exotic or that interesting but you could see they made an effort to make it varied and interesting. Prices at £3-5ish for Snack. Main meals around £8-9 Steaks and Grills £11-13 One real ale pump serving Teltley's Fire Cracker. I wasn't really hungry but wanted to sample some food why I was there so I ordered the hot chicken sandwich. I was very disappointed. It was a cheap chicken burger on a poor quality bread bun with a bit of iceberg. Most of the pubs I know use a full chicken breast that they put their own coating on and serve with salad garnish etc. It's a shame really because it is a nice looking pub. My snack may or may not have been representative of the rest of the menu but I shall not be returning to find out. I have no doubt it one of the best pubs within a few mile.

We were seated and placed our drink orders for coffee and water for me. We ordered garlic bread as appetizers and then waited for the mains to come out, I ordered their bacon cheese burger. Last night, we stopped there for a few drinks (only a half for me as the driver!) and were absolutely stunned. The selection of real ales is impressive and very well-kept and served. The landlord is extremely welcoming, pleasant and knowledgeable, but the pub itself.. Well, to say it is amazing is to do the landlord an injustice. As can be seen by the photos, the pub has an incredible amount of memorabilia; seemingly, most from the war years (no, I won't specify which wars!) but also an eclectic collection of anything that interests anybody. There are musical instruments throughout the rooms, a plethora of cameras of all eras, uniforms from forces, services and old schoolsI could go on all day. We all decided that it would take a full day just to sample the excellent drinks and to look around, then were told that they serve good food during the day as well. Unfortunately we were too late to get food and had more important matters in mind. The beers were very good; a superb choice of hand-pulled real ales, competently served and well-kept. At £2.70 a pint, they were a bargain these days unless you happen to have an in-house brewery. Next time I have a night off, we will have a trip there to sample the ffod as well as the beer.
