    Hessley Farrier Service

Horse owners please beware of this individual. Chris Hessley was seen by a trustworthy individual…read morephysically abusing my horse with a metal chain placed under his lip and over the thin, sensitive mucous membrane of his gums, jerking on the chain and attempting to tie him with the chain over his gums. This type of restraint is absolutely unacceptable for an individual without any medical training to employ on my valuable, beloved show horse without my knowledge or permission. Chris also decided without my knowledge to stop putting hind shoes on my elderly thoroughbred, whose feet are inherently brittle and sensitive, and continued charging for a full set of shoes. Thus, I was paying thousands of dollars to have my horses' feet done and the horse was going barefoot the entire time. Now, his feet are in horrendous condition, as they have essentially disintegrated, and we continue to accumulate vet and farrier bills for the remedial work that my horse will continue to require for the foreseeable future due to Chris' negligence and selfishness. I reported him to the American Farriers Association, and he is not an active member, despite the logos that he uses to advertise for his "business services." I have since been told that he had to take the certification test 13-14 times before passing! Furthermore, he's very creepy and inappropriate despite having a wife and two small daughters. He added me on Snapchat and posted shirtless pics to his story that nobody wanted to see. He sent creepy, unsolicited text messages and was just super inappropriate. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one!

4 Hearts Ranch - Turn out buddies

Owner, boarders, workers and facilities!! Especially indoor arena and xtra large stalls…read more In a nutshell, everything !!

If you are looking for a top-notch place to board your horse, I strongly recommend 4 Hearts Ranch…read more I have boarded my horse here for four years, since its prior existence as the historic Wills Ranch. Hallie Martin and her excellent staff have spent the last 2.5 years bringing this venerable property back to life, and I could not be more pleased with the services provided and the vast improvements and renovations that continue to be made. My horse's stall and run are beautifully maintained. He always has fresh, fluffy bedding and plentiful clean water from his automatic waterer. His hay and feed are top quality and are stored safely. He is turned out daily, weather permitting. The multiple turnout pastures are huge. Proper herd management is a priority. Hallie decides where each horse goes to create the best possible herd life for every equine. The entrance gate is secured 24/7 with a keypad lock. In addition to providing wonderful care for the horses, Hallie wants her boarders to enjoy the gorgeous property as well. She has cut trails through the ranch, which also boasts a creek and large fields for good runs. The large indoor arena is well-lit and professionally leveled. There is an outdoor arena as well. Boarders can relax in the cozy lounge. In-house trainers in multiple disciplines offer their services to help you and your horse meet and exceed your performance goals. Hallie is responsive to the boarders and truly looks after our horses as if they were her own. Her horses receive the very same care given to the boarded ones. One afternoon my horse was acting a "little off" in the pasture, and she stayed with him until I could check on him. He turned out to be fine, but I rest easier knowing she and the staff are keeping a close eye when I can't be there. If I have a question or an issue, all I need to do is bring it up to Hallie or Assistant Manager Laura, and I get a prompt, pleasant, professional response. When an issue arises, Hallie and her staff respond immediately. The ranch is beautiful, but the health and happiness of the horses are the top priority. Speaking as an owner who requires full board, I firmly believe my horse would not be any safer, happier, or healthier anywhere else besides 4 Hearts. 4 Hearts is blessed with many long-term and newer boarders who are happy to call 4 Hearts their barn home. The ranch has a consistently high occupancy rate. If you are considering boarding your horse at 4 Hearts, do your research. Take the opportunity to visit with some of the good folk here. Talk to Hallie. More importantly, talk to your local vet. Talk to your farrier. They know the facility and the owner and can give you unbiased feedback. Bonus: there are friendly barn cats and gorgeous peacocks to add to the welcoming atmosphere. This is a very happy place for horses and boarders alike.

TnT Ranch & Sales - Tom and Traci Davis - owners at TnT Ranch

    TnT Ranch & Sales

BUYERS BEWARE. TnT Ranch and Sales aka Traci Davis, etc. are NOT to be trusted. I bought a horse,…read morethat I was told was SOLID in all ways. Specifically, I asked about farrier history, shoeing etc. And that is where I will start. This horse (I was told was last shoed in August of 2023). However, when this horse arrived it had front shoes on. Done the cheap way to make a sale. No rear shoes, and we all know there is generally a reason for that. Their farrier did not do a good job at all, there was a long crack on one of the front hooves, and I had specifically asked these questions but was LIED to! The horse had a crack most likely caused by an imbalance of the hoof capsule. Flaring was evident on medial side of both front feet. Symmetrical shoes were used on Asymmetrical feet. In other words, they did not fit and were no doubt going to spread that crack out further. Thanks to my farrier for helping there. However, as I was saying, the hind feet were not shoed. This was a concern. This horse had difficulty lifting it's right hind leg and hopped to try and gain balance. We noticed this horse had a spine twist and a hip hike - necessitating possible chiropractic care. Upon further inspection, the horse was extremely sensitive to pressure - long story short, this indicates a long term issue/injury. I have other concerns, such as the age of the horse vs what I was told, unable to confirm now, but am going to get a second opinion. I have some rather large vet bills and when I try to text Traci, I am now met with silence. The horse also came over on me the first day I rode him, lucky I am experienced enough to deal with that. I will say the next time I rode him, and even same day after he came over and landed on me, he did fine. But of course, this was a SOLID horse when I talked to them. They claimed that I saw the videos (when I first complained and they note this on their bill of sale) - but that doesn't mean much actually. I will get this horse better, lots of vet visits but I do caution anyone that if they can outright lie to me that easily, they can also do it to you. They are generally overpriced it seems, at least on this horse. And after all this, I generally feel really bad for the horse and so I will get him better and just hope it all turns out right. The foot care of this animal was not evident - and one last thing, we did get hind shoes on finally - but the hoof walls were so thin (flared from lack of care and poor trimming) that we had to use shoes with clips and epoxy. I am told these hooves will grow out and be ok. But the prior care was certainly absent. NONE of this shared with me during my discussions to purchase this horse.

I read many reviews before choosing to purchase a horse from this seller, not all of them good. I…read morebelieve that each horse buyer does take some inherent risk no matter where they purchase a horse, there will always be scenarios where a horse has an injury that the vet didn't see, or showed up shortly after getting home. Things like that happen, and in my opinion, when shopping at a place that openly acknowledges they sell consigned horses, buyer must be aware of risks. If a buyer doesn't want that risk, do NOT buy from someone that openly acknowledges they sell consigned horses. My personal recommendation is to always have a vet check, and always test ride the horse. Many of the horror stories I've heard about any horse purchase come after one of those tips isn't followed. I believe Traci's 3 day vet check policy is fair. We were able to get our vet check the same day. Traci offered us to use her vet, she wasn't pushy about it, and I felt comfortable being able to use our own vet if i wanted to. She also allowed us to watch the vet check, and the vet was very informative, offered to do Xrays, etc. everything I would expect from a prepurchase check. We have had our gelding home for a few days, and he is everything we wanted, and so far, everything he was advertised as. Traci was professional and courteous through the entire process. Zero complaints!
