My daughter and I are on vacation visiting my college best friend of 35 years who lives in Decatur…read more My daughter's wire was poking her in her upper cheek. I called our orthodontist in Oklahoma to see if we could make an appointment for when we returned. Our orthodontist was going to be taking his vacation once we returned, so we would have to go see another orthodontist that would be covering while he is on vacation. His office staff suggested that we try to find a local orthodontist that might be able to see her while we are still in Decatur, so that she did not have to stay uncomfortable while on vacation. I called one office and it was going to be $150 to clip a wire. I called a second office and they were going to charge $360 to clip the wire. My best friend and her husband suggested that I call Decatur Orthodontics, so I did. Allyssa was my first interaction with the office. She was kind and super helpful. She was able to get us in right away. Our visit was less than 5 minutes once we arrived. The office staff was helpful, kind, and extremely efficient. The office was super clean and very organized. They were kind enough to take care of this for us as a complimentary service. If we lived in Decatur, this is where we would go! Thank you so much for taking care of my daughter and for being so kind to us! I would recommend this business 100%. Thank you for being kind human beings! Thank you for being a blessing to us! We appreciate you so very much!

Before moving to Atlanta, I was terrified of the dentist. I had never really had a good experience…read morewith one and so I avoided the regular checkups, cleanings, etc... On Jan. 5th, I developed an excruciating pain in one of my teeth. I immediately went home and to my dentist and found out that I needed a root canal. The dentist I was seeing admitted that he had not done a root canal before, but he could probably do it. I said "No way" and started searching for dentists near Atlanta. I quickly came across Mid City Dentistry and noticed the incredible reviews on every forum and decided I would go and get my root canal (which needed to be done ASAP) at Mid City Dentistry. As soon as I called, I could tell why the reviews were so good. Mercury was able to put me at ease after I explained to her how nervous I was about the procedure. I felt confident about the procedure after the phone call. When I went in and met Joscelyne, I could tell that I was in the right hands. She explained the entire procedure to me and was very patient with me despite my many questions. After meeting Dr. Michaels, I realized just how much the dentist can affect the patient's experience. Dr. Michaels again reiterated that the procedure would be fine. He told me how experienced he was with the root canal procedure and made me feel comfortable and right at home. Pretty soon, I was numbed up and watching "I Am Legend" while the procedure was being done. I felt absolutely no pain during the procedure and was comfortable the entire time. In all of my follow-up visits, I have been treated with the exact same professional care. I have also noticed that they know most of their patients by name and always greet them when they come in. They also always offer a water or a juice. For the first time, I feel very comfortable going to see the dentist. I am no longer terrified of dental procedures. I know that when I walk into Mid City Dentistry that I am going to be treated well and that whatever I am having done will be done right. I appreciate Dr. Michaels, and his staff, for providing me with the highest level of professional care.

I'm sharing this review with the hope that it brings more transparency and training to this…read morepractice's approach and serves as a heads-up to first-time patients. During my first visit, I expected a routine cleaning, as is standard at most dental offices. Instead, I paid around $100 for x-rays and a session where the dentist briefly brushed and flossed my teeth, demonstrated a new flossing technique focused on gum health, and measured gum pocket depth. I was then told to follow this routine at home and return in six weeks to assess any changes--no cleaning was performed at that first visit. At the follow-up appointment, I was seen by a different dental hygienist whose overly cheerful and rehearsed demeanor felt disingenuous. While she wasn't overtly rude, the interaction felt hollow and uncomfortable, which added to my unease. During the cleaning, she made a snide comment about my dental habits and then completed the rest of the procedure without much communication. I also noticed an unpleasant personal odor, which was surprising and concerning given the setting. Hygiene and professionalism are especially important in a dental care environment, and this contributed to a sense that standards were not being met. Unfortunately, during this visit, I believe the hygienist injured my gums multiple times due to a careless approach in handling sharp instruments. One area in particular has remained inflamed and possibly infected ever since. There was no review or inspection with the dentist afterward, which I had expected based on past experiences at other dental offices. As I was walked to the checkout counter, the hygienist casually mentioned that I "might need antibiotics" in six months if the issue with my gums didn't resolve -- an issue I am not sure I had walking in to this appointment. I never saw the dentist again during that visit, and no additional guidance or follow-up was provided beyond the flossing and brushing routine recommended weeks earlier. This entire experience left me shaken and disappointed. I have no history of gum issues or needing oral antibiotics, and this visit left me worse off than when I arrived. I haven't felt comfortable speaking up, but I'm sharing this because no one should leave a dental visit with lingering pain or uncertainty about the care they received. I genuinely hope this office takes the opportunity to improve how it communicates services upfront and invests in better training for staff--especially when it comes to patient care, professionalism, and technique. Patients deserve clear communication and quality care that prioritizes their well-being and comfort.

The day of my in person visit was so warm and welcoming. Everyone staff I encountered were super friendly and appeared to be very happy. You felt the uplifting vibes throughout the practice. Jess took all of my photos to get me fitted for my Invisalign. I meet Dr Kaplan who was very upbeat and super friendly. He made sure I understood what to expect during my treatment as well insured I was comfortable with my decision. Jess and Dr Kaplan were very attentive and showed so much care & compassion which further confirmed I'd selected the right practice to help through my new smile journey - for the 2nd time as I just ended my braces journey October of last year. Long story short, I stop wearing my retainers post treatment which is why I ended up in Dr Kaplans office ( * shrugs shoulders/hides face lol). Good thing Invisalign treatment is only for 6-8 months, that will fly by in no time. Today (12/21) was a pre bday gift to myself. It was my official aligner fitting, yet again nothing but superb customer service. As soon as I checked in, I was presented with a bday card and chocolate (no nuts) - that's the rule lol. It's the small things that makes my day, the gesture was kind and very unexpected. Unfortunately I forgot the name of the staff member that assisted with getting my aligners on however she was absolutely AMAZING, very thorough! Dr Kaplan once again greeting me with his uplifting personality. Made sure everything was in place before I departed. I look forward to signing off on the signature wall in 8 months! Oh they have a candy station you can help yourself to once you successfully complete treatment - I included a photo of it. Thought it was cute concept. I highly recommend Kaplan Orthodontics! I've had the ease of absolute trust through this chapter of my life. The result AND the process itself was an overflowing joy to experience. Thank you, Atlanta Orthodontic Specialists, for bringing me a confidence like one I never had before, for educating me more about my smile, and for expanding the longevity of my health. All the appointments were SIMPLE and to-the-point. Smooth sailing. Fast. Have a lot of questions? They'll answer them. Had a bracket snap off? They'll fit you in right away. Of course, we're working with the human body, so nothing is subject to perfection BUT Dr. Stewart & Dr. Tyler Rathburn settle for nothing less..! I posted BEFORE/AFTER photos for those reading my review to see the changes that occured through my care. I used to clench from the off-balance of my crooked teeth (look at how big my jaw muscles were in the left photo). The mechanics of my bite were terrible, causing me to pop out fillings & crowns, wear down my teeth, and wake up with random chips in my smile ~ my wallet needed a break from constantly putting out fires. If I didn't listen to the signs and symptoms, the cost of the repairs would have gone too far and to the point where I would eventually start needing implants. During my ortho treatment, my jaw muscles stopped overcompensating and my face had slimmed to a V-shape. My teeth & jaw muscles began finding balance. Ortho saved my smile from a premature death. I know you're already imagining the confidence a straight smile will bring to your life. For me, working as a cosmetic dental hygienist.. EVERYONE looks at my smile. Does that make me a picky and high maintenance individual about my teeth? Absolutely. Am I 100% satisfied in the concluding aesthetics from my care? Ummm YES. The only regret I have is WHY didn't I do this sooner? I would rave more, but when you scheduled a consultation, you'll quickly see all the positivity this place floods into people's lives.
