    I would like to preface this by stating that I have been a loyal customer of State Farm since first…read morereceiving my drivers license at 17 (Just a few months shy of a decade now) and my parents have policies for both their Home and all of their vehicles (personal and work vehicles) for over 25 years. All of my interactions with StateFarm (until this point) have been pleasant and seamless and despite my many friends recommending I try alternative insurance companies for less expensive Full Coverage premiums, I stayed because I am a loyal customer. Despite knowing that I am likely being over charged and knowing about the BBB review filed about StateFarm overcharging customers for premiums. This last month, I was accidentally charged twice for my monthly payment. It was an honest accident, but this occurred at an extremely inopportune time when I desperately needed those funds to bay NECESSARY bills (aka my PG&E). I found out about the 2nd charge late Thrusday night when I needed to pay a bill and didn't have the funds in my account. I called Nancy ASAP Friday morning to get the refund issued. I asked if there was ANYTHING that could be done to expedite the process or if they could write me a check, something, ANYTHING. Unfortunately they said No. The refund would take FIVE BUSINESS days to be returned to me. Nancy did say they would reimburse me for the overdraft fees my bank would charge, as my accounts are on Autowithdraw and I couldn't halt the PG&E charge already processing. Mind you, this was Friday morning, the 1st of September / beginning of Labor Day Weekend. Too late for me to get a loan from someone else and deposit it in time. SO the would take until about Thursday/Friday of the following week to land back in my account because of the weekend + Monday holiday. I've been written checks from SF before for reimbursement for towing and such, so I KNOW they could have done something to remedy their mishap. SO here I am, sunday morning, record high heat weekend WITHOUT power in my home, food in an ice chest so it doesn't go bad because of the insufficient funds. My debit card was also canceled as unfortunately that what my bank does as a precaution when overdrafts occur. Once I the refund is in my account, I will have to reapply for a new debit card which will take about 7-10 more business days to arrive. I called and tried to file a complaint with Statefarm customer service line and spoke with someone named Dave. Dave must have been having a bad day because he was incredibly crude with me. Dave also discovered Jeremy's office HAD NOT ACTUALLY FILED the refund for the 2nd charge yet, so he did it for me (TWO DAYS AFTER MY INITAL CALL!!!!) Meaning Jeremy's office never issued the refund for the 2nd charge on Friday when I called and lied to me. As already stated, I have been a loyal customer of state farm for nearly a decade. Full coverage insurance the entire time, paided on time EVERY SINGLE TIME. Totaling OVER $20,000. I've only had one very minor accident over 8 years ago. They've just been collecting my funds for ALL of these years. When I NEEDED their help to remedy a situation that THEY created. I get nothing except for very much screwed over, disheartened and boat loads of anxiety. I have filed a complaint with the BBB as well as spoken with my father in-law (an attorney) about taking this to small claims court, as well as beginning to shop around now to alternative car insurance polices who actually treat loyal, long term customers the way they SHOULD be treated.
