Bought a car here once, Peter Harrington seems to have a somewhat strange pricing policy but the cars are usually in good condition and worth a look. read more

After a 30 minute drive we reached car country sales only for the gentleman I had talked to earlier to say that the car was 10 cars deep and that it was not possible to take for a test drive. He went on to talk about people not being willing to buy cars after they take it for a test drive and that it would take a lot of time to get the car out. I appreciate that it would take a while to take the car out but then why did he tell me I could take it for a test drive in the morning of the same day? In defence of the company, it looks very professional and the car I was looking for looked in good shape (even though I could not take it for a drive), but I would not want to do business with someone so unprofessional as so waste so much of my time.

After contacting the dealer on numerous occasions only to get replies such as the person dealing with the matter is on holiday, on lunch or not in, it was clear they had no intention to solve the matter nor provide appropriate after sales service. My best advice would be to avoid this dealer unless you would like poor and unacceptable after sales customer service and possibly a vehicle that will break down soon after purchase.

Watford Car Sales
http://www.watfordcar-sales.co.uk/…read more I purchased a vehicle from this dealership which turned out to have a serious mechanical fault costing £800 to repair. When I explained to the dealer I wanted a refund, he stated he "was not obligated" to provide a refund but would, 'on my behalf' as a 'goodwill' gesture, speak with his garage to see if they can fit me in for a repair as the car was covered under the 3 month warranty - at this point, accepting no responsibility it was infact his duty to repair the vehicle under my statutory rights. The dealership did not state the 3 month warranty offer was capped at £300, and I would advise you to clarify this when purchasing a vehicle. The warranty company then refused to pay for the repair as it was above the capped limit. I stated to the dealer it was their responsibility to repair the vehicle! I left the car with the dealer for three weeks over Christmas, and when I returned, the car was handed back to me with a number of further faults. I explained to the dealer I was not happy, I had given him a chance to repair the vehicle (after a tough battle to even get to that point) and that I wanted a refund as the car was unfit for purpose. The dealer stated the car was 'perfect' and that there were no further faults. I paid for a diagnostics by an independent garage to prove to him this was not the case and that the further faults where due to his and his garage's faulty workmanship. The dealer refuses to acknowledge the faults or accept responsibility. The dealer stated I would not receive a refund "not today, not in a hundred years"... a very different attitude from when I wanted to buy the car and they were very nice. This dealership, quite simply, refuses to acknowledge the sales of goods act and consumer rights. I am now proceeding with a court case to get a refund. I would warn customers to be very careful when buying a vehicle from this dealership. I bought the car nine months ago and its been the most stressful nine months of my life, with more yet to come.

After months of trying to resolve it, the owner offered to have his 'contractors' repair the faulty engine, however, the car was returned in an even worse condition: the engine having multiple misfires. He refused to refund us, telling me that I would never get my money back. He went so far as to beg me to take him to court. We did and we won. Watford Car Sales was found to be in breach of contract as well as The Sale of Goods Act (1979). We finally received our money back, but only after a tremendously tearful nightmare and 13 month struggle. Everything you fear of a second hand car dealer.

I contacted a few big dealers around the UK beforehand, so knew the current prices. Dagenham Motors Enfield dusted all of them by a long way. Mike Shults sorted the deal for me and proved what a big player he is. Nobly, he insisted his salesman take the credit for the deal and not him. Very generous Mike. I wanted to pick the car up on a Sunday. No problem, working to a very tight schedule salesman Sam Rowsell got it taxed, insured and some recall and PDI work done to the deadline. Top job Sam. Mike and his protege Sam just professionally got the job done. Many thanks to both. I think Ford make great cars and this is my third Mondeo. The drive to and from the garage was a pleasure. Motorway all the way and the garage easy to find. I know where my next Mondeo is coming from. Best regards, Alan Jackson.
