I am a Veteran and chose Fredericksburg Primary Care Clinic through the Community Care service…read more All Veterans, PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! Instead, choose a modern, professional, full-service doctor practice like Mary Washington Hospital Primary Care 540-741-9300 12101 Carol Lane STE 101 Fredericksburg VA 22407. The difference is Night and Day!! MW has modern technology and facilities, MW Doctors are continually being trained in the latest medical treatments and technologies. They offer Veterans way more modern diagnostics with modernized treatments. of interest to Veterans, MW has perfected the VA Community Care Optum processes. Because they are modern they offer online check-in, and use the My Chart app, which makes life SO MUCH EASIER!! No comparison on the level of Veteran care between the two!!! Fredericksburg Primary Care is a 1960s practice with no modernization that does not even staff enough people to answer phone calls. So, if you need to reschedule an appointment, you must physically drive to the office and walk in to do so. MW has an app for that and for all medical interactions. Fredericksburg Primary Care is an antiquated doctors' practice in a run-down old facility that should not even be cleared for a medical practice. Dog kennels are more modern. I have witnessed the hard-working, understaffed front office employees being treated horribly by the lead office administrator and the nurse practitioner, Sandra. The doctor's office is cramped, at least 50 years old, and basic. The administrative area and reception mingle, so one can see how old and broken down the equipment is. Think about how much money that doctor makes and still has broken-down old office equipment. His priorities are very clear, and they are not his facility, staff, or Veterans. They do not organize or plan for daily medical support services, especially the VA's administrative procedures, although they take on VA patients and get paid well for doing so. They also do not answer their phones because, as I quote, the office manager's response: "They ring so much, and we just do not have time to answer them." Because they do not have administrative processes for interacting with VA's Community Care Optum and do not answer their phones, every lab and x-ray consult requires multiple physical visits to request re-faxing the Request for Service forms. The RFS must be refaxed so many times because the untrained staff does not fill out the form correctly, and it is hit and miss if they use the correct fax number. In addition, they do not understand how to bill Optum for visits, so the Vet receives the bill every time. That forces the Vet to spend time on the phone calling Optum so they can pay the bill. This antiquated, disorganized practice should not be allowed in the Community Care network, and I am working hard to remove them.

Best Internal Medicine doctor in the area, in my opinion. Super smart and thorough. This screening test found cancer early before I had symptoms. For this, I'm grateful.

This is a doctor who cares about his patients…read more I have been a patient of Dr. Harrington for over 20 years now. He has cared for my family and even several friends in the Fredericksburg area. Not only has Dr. Harrington been a great resource for check-ups, physicals, and any medical questions, but he was able to catch a possibly life threatening thyroid disorder well before I started becoming symptomatic. The wait times for his office are sometimes long, but this is because he actually spends time talking to his patients, listening to their symptoms and concerns, and explaining things in a clear and detailed manner. The man has a good heart, which is rare to find these days. I have seen this first hand when I went through some serious medical issues and he was the only doctor who took me seriously. I don't know what your experience will be like, but I can promise you that Dr. Harrington is a good doctor and an even better person.

I've been a patient of Dr. Harrington's for three years solely because it's a pain to transfer to…read moreanother doctor. Every three months for the last three years (and sometimes more often if I get super sick) I have to wait an average of 45 minutes passed my appointment time to be seen. The front office person, Linda, is extremely rude. When I brought this up with Dr. Harrington he said he is aware of her behavior, that he's spoken to her about it before, but, he told me, it's just the way she is--being from New York and all. Their billing has yet to give me a refund for incorrect billing from a year ago. I've listened to others' arguments about this as well while sitting in the waiting room. When Dr. Harrington does finally come in, he says the same things and asks me the same questions as if meeting me for the first time: "Have we seen you for this before?" (It's the only thing I see him for, and yes, every three months.) I have to call two to three times to get a single prescription refilled every time I need it refilled. Often I have to go to their office and wait in person to make sure they write a refill script. In the past month, they have cost me $425 because they did not order a refill. TWICE. I was inadvertently told that the reason one of my prescriptions was not refilled is because the way to refill a prescription changed; i.e., the nurse faxed in a refill request. She received a notification from the drug company saying that they no longer took fax requests and that the office needed to call instead. That phone call was never made. In short, with the office staff, they will not do their job unless you stay on top of them. Dr. Harrington himself is so rushed that he seems hyperactive. If your problem is beyond sniffles, he's going to refer you to a specialist.
