I am submitting this complaint to document the unprofessional and discourteous behavior I experienced from the front office staff--specifically Receptionist Lauren and Receptionist Tonya. Their conduct has repeatedly prevented me from accessing timely medical care. On Wednesday around 4:40 PM, I attempted to call the office regarding a prescription. My calls were answered and immediately disconnected three times. On the fourth attempt, someone finally picked up. Lauren answered, and when I informed her that the calls were being disconnected, she dismissed my concern and asked what I needed. When I inquired about my prescription, she claimed nothing was in the system, despite the details appearing clearly in MyChart. I requested to speak with the Office Manager, Mrs. Torres, and left her another message, as I felt I was being treated unfairly after previously reporting the front staff's behavior. The following day, I called again and was in que and on hold for over 25 minutes. During this time, I asked my husband to call from a separate line. His call was answered immediately, while mine remained on hold. Shortly afterward, my call was finally picked up. When I explained the situation, Lauren transferred me to Tonya, who began the call by saying, "Hi honey," without confirming my identity or using any patient identifiers. This suggested they already assumed who was calling, despite not following proper protocol. I explained my concerns and the urgency of my prescription, which was needed due to lab results indicating critically abnormal values requiring immediate medication. Tonya stated that filling a prescription could take up to three days because they "have hundreds of patients" and that I was not their only one. When I expressed that I would be escalating the matter to the medical board, she responded, "You do that," and then hung up on me. Unable to get past the front desk by phone, I went to the office in person to speak with the manager or a patient services advocate and to share documented recordings of my interactions. Upon arrival, I was informed that I had been barred from the establishment--without anyone speaking to me or hearing my perspective. The Patient Services Advocate, Jennifer, came out only after I stood there for some time. She initially said nothing and then eventually stated she wanted to hear my side of the story, but by that time I had already been formally barred. This experience has been deeply humiliating and distressing. As a patient seeking necessary medical care, I should not be targeted or dismissed for reporting unprofessional behavior. The patterns reflected in the reviews are consistent with what I experienced firsthand. I strongly urge anyone seeking compassionate, reliable care to consider these concerns seriously.

It's been 8 months since I've been seen, but I called 2 weeks ago with an acute medical issue and didn't hear back for 2 days. I called twice in a row just to make sure I gave them time to get to the phone, but it's just so inconvenient as a disabled person to not hear back from a physician for 2 days. The medical treatment by Natalie was wonderful and as I previously stated is the lone bright spot I was exposed to. I strongly advise against us this medical facility unless you don't mind being cared for in a filthy environment with unprofessional professionals.

Instead, choose a modern, professional, full-service doctor practice like Mary Washington Hospital Primary Care 540-741-9300 12101 Carol Lane STE 101 Fredericksburg VA 22407. The difference is Night and Day!! MW has modern technology and facilities, MW Doctors are continually being trained in the latest medical treatments and technologies. They offer Veterans way more modern diagnostics with modernized treatments. of interest to Veterans, MW has perfected the VA Community Care Optum processes. Because they are modern they offer online check-in, and use the My Chart app, which makes life SO MUCH EASIER!! No comparison on the level of Veteran care between the two!!! Fredericksburg Primary Care is a 1960s practice with no modernization that does not even staff enough people to answer phone calls. So, if you need to reschedule an appointment, you must physically drive to the office and walk in to do so. MW has an app for that and for all medical interactions. Fredericksburg Primary Care is an antiquated doctors' practice in a run-down old facility that should not even be cleared for a medical practice. Dog kennels are more modern. I have witnessed the hard-working, understaffed front office employees being treated horribly by the lead office administrator and the nurse practitioner, Sandra. The doctor's office is cramped, at least 50 years old, and basic. The administrative area and reception mingle, so one can see how old and broken down the equipment is. Think about how much money that doctor makes and still has broken-down old office equipment. His priorities are very clear, and they are not his facility, staff, or Veterans. They do not organize or plan for daily medical support services, especially the VA's administrative procedures, although they take on VA patients and get paid well for doing so. They also do not answer their phones because, as I quote, the office manager's response: "They ring so much, and we just do not have time to answer them." Because they do not have administrative processes for interacting with VA's Community Care Optum and do not answer their phones, every lab and x-ray consult requires multiple physical visits to request re-faxing the Request for Service forms. The RFS must be refaxed so many times because the untrained staff does not fill out the form correctly, and it is hit and miss if they use the correct fax number. In addition, they do not understand how to bill Optum for visits, so the Vet receives the bill every time. That forces the Vet to spend time on the phone calling Optum so they can pay the bill. This antiquated, disorganized practice should not be allowed in the Community Care network, and I am working hard to remove them.

Stefanie and Rebecca tag teamed on me, and I felt their hatred and delight in being able to harp on office policies to turn me away. They insisted certain documentation was required that I do not have. The piece of paper they handed me listed the documentation and says that it is "requested", not "required". In retrospect I am sorry I told them about my illness since that should not have been necessary - I was just so flabbergasted at their lack of compassion and kindness. They seemed sadistic to me, making a snide remark to me on my way out, even though they had won and succeeded in turning me away. They would not even pass on a handwritten note from Dr. Vranian to Dr. Bernstein that I hand delivered. Why not? Dr. Vranian wrote the note on my behalf to Dr. Bernstein. Now he will never get to read it. What right did the staff have to refuse a message to be passed? Stefanie and Rebecca must have never read the Bible or understood the meaning of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Also, the staff left early for lunch and the office was closed when it should have been open, so I had to come back a second time, and they wasted my time twice.
