Oh my gosh. I have no idea where a place like this springs from, especially in the LS8 post code,…read moreand yet here it is standing proud. For some of the most high end designer clothes, outside of Harvey Nichols, this is absolutely the shop to browse. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I literally spent about five minutes here as I was so daunted by the price tags. I was, after all, weighed down by a cumbersome ugly rucksack, dirty shoes and a red world-weary face from my travels that day. The lady, who I assumed to be the manager, greeted me very kindly even though she was busy with another customer so I thought that was really nice. Not even close to the reception I'd had in some of the other high end shops, as she was warm and friendly and didn't seem phased by my disheveled appearance one iota. In spite of that I only had to touch one of the beautifully designed dresses to realise that it cost £800 and I instantly became convinced that my hands were covered in grease and had left some kind of grubby mark on the collar. Perhaps this was the paranoia of being in a high end shop. I felt like at any given moment my rucksack may catch an entire display and put me into more debt than my student loan. There is a beautiful range of clothing, accessories and shoes inside this wonderfully laid out shop. They cater for men too, just as exquisitely, but as you may have gleaned by now - we are talking *high end* clothing here. My most coveted item, a jacket costing £300 odd, almost seems cheap in comparison to the dress I first glanced at! In any case, though I really thought highly of the design and the service, there is no possible way I could afford to spend money in here! Lovely, but definitely a place to save up for.

Posted on behalf of my wife and her friend:…read more Grudgingly returned to the shop after an upsetting, extremely disappointing experience last year with my friend who was looking for a mother of the bride outfit. This was purchased but after less than 24 hours was returned as she decided it wasn't quite the right colour for her. As noted in previous reviews with important dress decisions for special occasions people can change their minds, however the shops policy of no refunds and only a credit note left my friend devastated and visibly upset in the shop. The refund policy is displayed on a wall tucked away behind the cash point in very small writing. To read it you would need to ask the assistants to step aside from their till in order to read the policy. However, we were told on the day of return, it is also noted on the receipt by which time you have made your purchase and it is too late! We pointed out at no time leading up to the purchase did anyone mention the returns policy. Many other high street stores and independent stores do point this out at the point of sale. We think that with such an important, emotional and expensive purchase this should be made clear verbally! We could not believe this was an unusual situation judging by the thickness of the credit notebook that was produced. The manager was called but was cold and uncaring. Sticking by the policy despite my friend's extreme distress. As pointed out by my friend, for her it was a once in a lifetime purchase and she will never need to buy a dress like this again, so a credit note was of no use to her! At that point I offered to buy the credit note off her. So, returning somewhat hesitantly on Friday this year with another friend for moral support, in order to use the credit note, it was extremely disappointing to see the refund policy still tucked away not clearly visible. To compound matters we were served grudgingly by an arrogant, unfriendly assistant. We were dressed for the weather after our train journey from Edinburgh and possibly we were being judged by this particular assistant (as previous reviews have commented on). Whilst I tried on two dresses the assistant did not engage with my friend at all making my friend feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. We then went to the other shop, the assistants here were very friendly but we returned to the MOB shop to complete the purchase. At this point we had four assistants squashed into the small point of sale area trying to pack the items up which was quite intimidating for us. When I produced the credit note which covered the cost exactly of both items (which was quite considerable), nothing was said about the comment my friend added to the credit note last year! So main learning points for Molly Brown: * Your returns policy at the point of sale should be seen clearly by the customers - so move it and point it out verbally pre-sale! * Some assistants clearly need some training * Do not judge your customers buying potential by their appearance. You will lose sales. Supposedly you are family run but your customer service is very poor, there are times when rules can be relaxed. The experience my friend had was dreadful and it is too late for you to redeem yourselves, but I do hope this does not happen to any other potential customer.

The clothes are unusual and creatively designed, with unexpected added details or special touches which give them character. There's something here to suit every taste with everything from long, baggy jumpers to short sequined ice-skater style dresses. They also have many vintage-inspired dresses - one that caught my eye was a grey woolen long-sleeved dress with gold buttons and there were also dresses reminiscent of Victoria Beckham's designs, with fitted bodices and added pelmets. They also sell a small selection of jewellery and shoes. The fact that all the clothes here are by local independent designers makes me appreciate this shop much more, as it is supporting small businesses, showcasing local talent and providing a unique shopping experience.

The layout is open and inviting and styled more like a classy lounge than a shop floor. Bordering the room are rails and rails of quirky, individual and classy items, which, to my delight, I discovered are all by independent local designers. The girls working there were clearly passionate about the clothes, not only since they were dressed head to toe in them, but they went on to explain to me that the shop had been there for around 30 years and so was well established as an independent boutique. They also informed me that they only buy one of each size in so that any item purchased is virtually a one-off - I love one-offs! For this you do have to pay a little more than your average high street brands, but the point is that when you go out in one of their dresses/skirts/tops you know that you are likely to be the only one in Leeds wearing it. Even the scarf selection oozed class and design. It was very exciting, and as Christmas is creeping ever closer, I suggest you go in and and have a search. But not if I get there first...

It's a nice store, I have yet to be dissapointed with it, there are often huge reductions towards sale time! It's good to visit when the local warehouse store or topshop store has ran out of your size! The restaurant food is ok, fair prices but nothing special really. Just the usual soup, sausages, beans thing. It does serve an all day breakfast I think that's promoted throughout the store. The staff here are really helpful and friendly they'll chat with anyone any age about what they're buying or what they're up to and the makeup staff are really helpful and knowledgeable about their aimed product.
