Absolutely appalling customer service. I was buying a coat for my Mum and took a picture of it to send to her. The guy came over and was verbally abusive, raising his voice and physically blocking me from the clothing. He started accusing me of trying to buy it cheaper online, and when I tried to explain myself he spoke over me and shouted me down. I can see a number of reviews of the same thing, so I now know he's known for doing this. I couldn't understand why he became so abusive so quickly so I looked it up and sure enough, Regatta are selling their Begonia II for £34.95 whereas his is £57. He's obviously struggling to compete and things are tough right now, but that is not how you treat you others, especially when you need their custom. read more

I visit Leeds/Harrogate once a year and always, and I mean always, check the weather prior to my flight over from Detroit. Much like Michigan, where I live, the weather is so friggin changeable I always wind up at Rock One for another layer needed. I always find what I need and there are always plenty of items on sale to choose from. I now own Jack Wolfskin and Bench fleeces. Honestly I have no idea what I would do without Rock One. My kids have been wearing really good quality coats from this shop for years. If we need a new coat this is the first shop we go to. The range is amazing - endless racks of coats to suit most budgets from cheap to (very!) pricey! But even then the prices are discounted and the staff are experienced enough to know when a deal can be made to secure a sale. Add to that the fact that the staff are highly knowledgeable about what they have (as well as friendly) and if you discuss your needs the chances are the right garment will be found - either from the vast selection in the shop or from a secret hanger or cupboard. There is also a huge amount of stuff to go with what you buy such as washing mixtures to keep your coat water proof, dubbin for your boots, compasses, camping stoves, camping cooking gear, knives, torches... Basically if you are going outside and need to gear up then you can find pretty much everything you need in this shop. I'm going to guess that they sell tents and tent accessories too but as I've never needed to buy a tent I can't be sure! I'd be surprised if they don't though. We went again yesterday to buy a coat for my youngest and found exactly what we needed - with a touch of guidance by the chap running the place - so we've had quality service for years from Rock One. read more
