This shop is the best! They got another year out of my car and fixed it up when another shop told me to junk it! Finally the car did die the following year and they handled that well too (frame was rusted out). The staff on the phone are marvelous. the waiting area is convenient and comfortable to all and I noticed there was even a baby changing area! As a woman I can tell you I was treated well there where st some other places I've been treated like I was an imbecile and disregarded-not at Harrell!! I liked how I could communicate to them directly via text and got an immediate response from a real person every time-very impressive! This place is managed well! I had a five-star experience all the way around. Mr. Harrell give the staff a raise! Keep these staff members doing what they are doing now because it's all good. After dropping over $5,000 on February 06, 2026 to have some "issues" fixed I was back less than four hours later the first time it died at the end of my drive way due to the gas line not being hooked up. Then it was back again one month later with another issue after my 2020 Dodge Durango was in their possession for three days. First time I had it on the highway the check engine/start stop warning lights (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES) lit up my dashboard and the engine was sputtering and pulling. Called Harrell Automotive the next day and they ran a test on it and said it would be another $850.00 to now replace 6 spark plugs. After receiving the invoice after the job was supposedly done it was $999.95 owner discretion of "supposed" work done. Average price to change 6 spark plugs is approximately $650.00. Fast forward to March 22,2026 I have had my Durango back in my possession for twelve days and when I drove it past 50 mph same issues happen again, and same EXACT diagnosis (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES). I'll let fellow customers decide but I do not deal in coincidences, especially the same exact diagnosis. All of this was after Michael(Owner) reached out to me and asked how we could rectify the situation after leaving a negative review just two weeks ago. I gave him the benefit of the doubt but same diagnosis in less than a month, makes a customer wonder was there even work done or was just an invoice written up? No one will ever know because we as customers do not know what goes on behind the garage walls. There is always an excuse "when a vehicle breaks down it can get expensive" Always have an answer for everything. Their mechanics must eat real good at the expense of their customers. They say they treat us like family, I would not want to know how they treat enemies. How does someone's vehicle have more problems after Harrell Automotive has possession of it? I am from Erie born and raised and I do not like people who come here and overcharge for shotty work and then have the nerve to call us family. They say in their commercial that they will wash your car for free and they will do the job RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. "In Brian Cohick's case, the "owner discretion" he refers to is Michael's charity to a disabled Veteran and Brian did not pay any portion of the $999.95". Ok folks here's the truth why I did not pay because the owner called me on my cell phone asking me what could be done. I said fix my vehicle and I do not want any more lights coming on. He asked me to take down my original review in return for the work that was supposedly unrelated to the $5,000 I gave them a month prior. According to Harrell Automotive spark plug and wiring repair costs $999.95 HAHA. As for her closing statements about honesty, I was honest when I removed the initial review and was a man of my word until the same issue and diagnostic came up (SEE PHOTOS) in which I informed Michael if it does the review will go back up, again I am a man of my word. She also states that it's not uncommon for more problems to occur after fixing another one, REALLY? After the initial $5,000 I gave them it's not uncommon for another $999.95 issue to occur (work performed in exchange for removal of initial review). She also stated we stand behind our work, first we will hit you with $5,000, then a week later oh $999.95 spark plugs? HMMMM interesting. This shop is very unprofessional and unreliable. I would honestly describe them as a family of backyard mechanics. I brought my car in feeling completely distraught, and they wrongly diagnosed my Nissan. My car was in limp mode when I dropped it off. The person who was there told me that replacing the catalytic converter would fix my "limp mode" problem. However, after a week of my car being at their shop, I drove just 5 miles down the road and my car immediately went back into limp mode. I returned my car the following morning. After spending $1,036 at this shop, I naturally assumed the person who worked on my car would at least recheck the work he did. He didn't. He refused and told me my car now needed a full tune-up, adding that his shop wasn't equipped for that and I needed to take it elsewhere. Following his advice, I took my car to Magnolia Auto Mechanic Shop and had it towed in. They did the work, and now I finally have a proper tune-up. However, my car still has a check engine light for the catalytic converter--which I know is accurate because I ran the codes myself. I took my car back to the shop that replaced my converter, hoping they would help since THEY replaced it and claimed it would fix the problem in the first place. Out of basic decency, I thought they would stand behind their work--but they didn't. They were very rude and refused to re-examine anything. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone. You'd be better off getting on your hands and knees and fixing the problem yourself than trusting these people. read more

Be cautious when dealing with this Company- especially if you are elderly, female or not mechanically inclined. We received estimates that were twice as high as the dealer to replace a timing chains. Harrells estimate $6,100 vs the dealer at $3,500. The explanation from the service manager is that there are any Land Rover dealers in Erie so someone would have to drive to Pittsburgh. Other examples: Harrells. Dealer Resistor. $5,545. $2,600 Spark plug labor. $188. $86 Sprocket cover. $ 569. $394 Many other examples. Most shops, including Harrells, use a standardized program called Tekmetric to estimate the hours to perform a job. In no circumstance should a private shop be higher than the dealer since the dealer has the highest labor price per hour. Yet Harrells consistently is- especially to customers who aren't mechanically inclined. About a year ago, my wife took her car to get some work done ahead of a long road trip. Some standard maintenance needed done based on the mileage... Brake fluid flush, transmission fluid flush, stuff I wasn't quite sure how to do on my own. I went with her to pick it up, and they had quoted her over $2000 of stuff unrelated to the things we had asked for... Stuff they said we needed to have done. Control arms, sway bar links, the sway bar itself, and new tires. We had JUST purchased brand new all seasons a month​​ before, and they were trying to tell her she was running around in the summer on winter tires. But again, this​​ was all stuff we didn't even ask them to look in on. We got second and third opinions from other mechanics in town. Most said these things didn't need replaced yet (they said sway bars rarely need replacement at all). They also quoted under $1000. The dealership even quoted us several hundred dollars less. ​​ Maybe they had a good reason for quoting us that high, but it was all pretty detailed in the printouts they gave us, and that's what we used to get other opinions. I took my vehicle in to have my air conditioning checked. Harrell's was recommended to us by our mechanic. Veronica called to give us the rundown on what was needed to be done to fix everything from the air conditioner to leaks found and a " cracked " serpentine belt. The estimate came to nearly $4000. We're on a fixed income so that price was not doable for us. We explained that we couldn't afford that and that we would just come pick up the vehicle. After we paid the $260 plus diagnostic fee, we decided to have another garage give us a second opinion. This other garage has been repairing cars for over 50 yrs. They found that there were no leaks, the serpentine belt was not cracked and the air conditioner just needed a new clutch and fuse. $530 later, my vehicle is blowing artic air! I'm not going to tell you not to go to Harrell's, but I will tell you to beware. read more

LONGEST oil change of my life!!!!! I was there for 2+ freaking hours with a 2yr old child in tow and I made an appointment!. The guy however didn't waste anytime coming in the waiting room with the somber list of everything wrong with my vehicle and saying everything was urgent. Felt very predatory and when i declined everything and stated i was only there for a simple oil change4 he never entered the room again. It took my noticing my vehicle was parked out front to realize my car was finished and had to ask him for the keys to pay. Again a simple oil change on a dodge van shouldn't take 2+ freaking hours. The employees are friendly, but the business practices fell short with me. Through phone conversation I spoke with an employee about a specific issue that I had with my car (2006 Honda Accord) I ran over an ice mound and there was a piece of what seemed to be the exhaust dangling from the bottom which caused my car to run loud. Upon explaining the employee said bring it in and we will take a look. I dropped the car off after work and left the keys in the drop box. The next day I got a call and the employee started off by telling me a super long list of EVERYTHING I needed... tires, ball joints, control arms, oil change, serpentine belt.... I stopped the employee and asked if he could get to the point and tell me the situation on the issue that was causing it to be loud.. My ONLY concern. I stated I didn't bring the vehicle in for a pre inspection.. the car is inspected for 4 more months..the shop knew the car was inspected and knew exactly what my concerns were. He then stated that the issue was an O2 sensor that broke away from the catalytic converter and stated that it would be $1010.72 I declined the service and was told I needed to pay $148.00 and I could pick up my keys. I was never quoted a price over the phone.. if I would have known it was going to be 148 I would have had my own car dealership do the diagnostic test and include an oil change for $70 while I was there. This is not my regular mechanic I go to and informed Harrell Automotive that my mechanics shop was closed temporarily.. I paid the 148.00 to get my keys back, and took it to a different mechanic that stated the same diagnosis with the exhaust and did all the work for under $300.00 read more

This place is amazing - from the moment you enter the building and are greeted by the lovely Veronica, to the coffee in the waiting lounge, to the very friendly and super competent mechanics. I won't ever take my car anywhere else. They are the first people I call when even the tiniest thing is wrong with my older model, high mileage foreign car needs something. They replaced all of my brakes back in May. When I went to get my car inspected in October, the mechanic said my brakes were completely worn out in the back. I explained I just had them replaced a few months ago. It turned out that Harrell installed the spring incorrectly on each rear brake and it ruined the brakes. I went today to ask for a refund for the rear brakes and the install and was told no. I was apparently supposed to call them to replace them (which makes no sense...if you didn't get it right the first time why would I want you to screw it up again?) and because I didn't do that and, just had the other mechanic do it, there's nothing they can do. Poor on their part. In my business, if I screw something up I apologize and try to make it right. read more

I had to get a lower and upper control arm with alignment done on the front passenger side of the truck. They didn't give me a bad price but they told me they needed to do a whole check on the vehicle before they worked on it. Idk why they need to do that when all I wanted done was the control arms. But they did and tried to tell me I needed about $1500-$2000 worth of maintenance. I told them no just do what I said to do. So they did, but what they didn't do is the alignment. They tried to tell me they did multiple times but they didn't. I went to leave the garage and my steering wheel was to the right when my truck was going to the left. So I went to another garage and had them check the alignment 3 times to make sure it was wrong and each time they check it, it came back the same as the alignment was way off. Being a 19 year old and getting my first brand new car, and having the motor go put me at a pretty low spot. After days of endless calls Mike and Tiffany accepted the job, claiming they can put a "good engine with under 9k miles" for around $8,800 (absolutely ridiculous pricing). With this being the first shop to accept the job with "Confidence" we accepted the service. After 2-3 weeks i got the call my vehicle was done and ready to get picked up. Apon driving off the lot, my brand new Civic Si with the "9k mile motor" was huffing smoke out of the exhaust anytime the car sat at a stop for over 10 second! We immediately reported this to Tiffany and Michael, they checked the car out and claimed it was residual oil from the old motor/new motor setting its seals. This was absolutely not the case. The car had basic bolt ons (Exhaust, Intake, Tune) all tuned professionally and before never smoking beforehand. After taking the car to another unnamed shop, we were told the turbo seals on the "Tested Motor" were bad. We got proof and took this back to Tiffany, and the treatment and backlash we received was horrid. This excuse of a auto shop claimed we were wrong and lying, and that the car was in fact okay. After weeks of pulling checks, arguments, and headache.. We decided to trust Tiffany and Michael's word quote "Any issues will be handled by myself personally (Mr Harrell) and assured us a warranty if any problems down the line"... boy was that a lie. 6-8 months down the line (still consistently smoking) i turned my car on to the motor knocking. In the coming days we contacted Tiffany, who from the beginning continued to give the backlash and disrespect she's given since the beginning. We were told to bring the car in and have it checked out for warranty claims from the engine provider. This became a 3-4 month situation, being told different things everyday, and ending with the motor being voided from the warranty. Apon further investigation, we were able to figure out threw the State Attorney General, this motor was actually a recycled motor from a junkyard in PA. Tiffany lied to our faces and refusing to provide the required information. Claiming "The VIN is not given to us by our provider". And the State Attorney assured us this was not the case after contacting the supplier. Harrells also refused to give us said provider which is in violation of our consumer rights. Harrells Automotive continued to give us the option of fixing the car for over $9,000 or picking it up. After more time arguing, and us deciding to pickup the vehicle. Tiffany informs me they are charging us over $5000 in storage fees and they held the car hostage while legal action came into the air. After more and more time of talking to attorneys, our family, and the Millcreek Police (Who also claimed Harrells is known for being inhuman and indecent to there customers and we weren't the first or last). I unfortunately had to sign the car over to the bank. After my loan provided tried contacting Tiffany for some type of deal/payments we could work out. She completely denied or agreed to any potential deal between themselves and the bank. Harrells ended up taking my car from me for $1,000 and left me with a extra $12k+ in debt. I am only 21 years old and leaving reviews have never been my thing. But Harrells Automotive and the owner Tiffany Harrell are evil human beings. The lack of quality in their service, the absolute disrespect my grandparents and myself received as paying customers was disgusting. This company is known all around Erie for absolutely ruining people's situations. They have never and will never change. Reading through low rated reviews, Tiffany responds and argues the cases/reviews which is completely unprofessional. Left a very similar review on Facebook and was immediately blocked and the review was removed almost instantly. Long story short. Do. Not. Go. Here. Broke the blower to my ventilation system during an oil change somehow. Claimed it was the serpentine belt, which had just been inspected 3 weeks ago and passed. Took it to New Life in Girard. They said the belt was fine, despite the dire urging of Harrell's to waste money on a new one. Anyway, immediately, New Life identified that it was the blower that was broke; which was not the case prior to the oil change at Harrell's. Also, it take like 3 hours for an oil change. I had taken it here previously for one and it took at least that. Terrible. The customer service of the people at front is incredible. But, as soon as you start to disagree, they change. Weird how you never get to talk to the actual mechanic here. read more

I took my diesel in to have them look at a starting problem. I received a list back to the tune $2500 with no mention of the issues leading to the starting problem. When I told them again why I brought it in, again, they disappeared for over an hour and came back with a starter added to my $2500 bill. They even tried to sell me tires to fix my starting problem. I took my Mazda in to harrell auto on 3-3-21 I dropped my Mazda off at 8:00 am and my Mitsubishi off at 1030am to see if they needed aligned.. i did not get either of my cars back until 230 pm.. so 6.5 they had my car and failed to call and let me know it needed a wheel bearing and tie Rod end.. which would throw the alignment right back out.. so instead they proceeded with the alignment and basically stole 112 dollars from me.. than had the nerve To tell me they would realign my car IF I paid them a ridiculous amount to fix my car (900 dollars) when I just handed them 220 for two alignments.. when they should have only aligned one.. or got my permission for the Mazda considering there was problems. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.. seems to be VERY untrustworthy read more

They use misleading business practices. It is like being at a high pressure used car lot/junk yard. I had to ask for my car back four times. They charged me a storage fee when I picked up my car the next day after I paid them over $4,000 in repairs. They talked me out of the repairs that I thought I needed. Less than two months later I needed the same repair. When I questioned some of the repairs they insisted I needed to get my car inspected, they back tracked and decided they weren't really necessary . They never reached out to update me and never called when they promised, without my calling again to ask status. Took over 2 weeks and did not correct the problem!! Billed me $1,700 to supposedly correct other corrosion problems? When I complained that all lights were still on, the owner said he would personally, work on it one more day, to fix it. Within a few days all lights were again lit. When I reached out to say that all warning lights were again lit, I got no return call. Hallman fixed my car in less than 2 days and for $300!! Since June 30th, my first response from Harrell came today, Aug 26th, asking They told me I hadn't returned with the issue. That was untrue. They had previously told me that my sensors were just "fried" like when lightening strikes a computer. Untrue. Or, Hallman "unfried" them? Do not take anything to this garage!! read more

They charged me over $800 for a job that was over their head. When I hired a competent mechanic to look at the problem, they chased him off the premises, after telling me he could look at the car on their lot. Then I found out that the mechanic I hired had already looked at the engine at THEIR request. They knew all along the job was over their head. Of course, they did not ever refer me to the competent mechanic, who redid all of their shoddy work and fixed the car. Please be advised that they deserve a zero stars rating. read more

Took my vehicle there back in July. They lost my trust immediately by sneaking a 3% fee on the bill (already huge bill close to $1,000). When I came in to speak to them in person about it I was given a song and dance about them being a local family business, yada yada. That may be, but that doesn't make it right to charge your customers for your own business fees and then when they complain about it, you still won't refund it. This isn't even my biggest gripe. They also would not put my review up on their website because it was not 5 stars. So their entire website is just what they want you to see, it's not the whole truth. While I found all of this despicable, what's worse is I took it to another garage recently, an HONEST place that I'm about to go and review them at 5 stars because they deserve it (Parker's Garage, just down the road from them)....and they told me the $2k job that Harrell told me I needed done I actually did NOT need done, they said at the mileage on my car I should just watch the oil more closely, that at this stage of the life of my vehicle I wouldn't want to put that much money into it for such a minor slow oil leak. I appreciated their honesty immensely and they now have a customer for life. By the way, they do not charge their customers their business expenses either. I take my Fiat and my Nissan truck, both of which they service with no issues. This is a very dishonest business. You will drive your car in and have to be towed out. They have no clue what they are diagnosing. I drove my vehicle in and after receiving a completely wrong diagnosis I had to be towed to the bmw dealer because they now claim my vehicle as a fire hazard. They diagnosed my fuel cylinder 1 was leaking raw fuel after they did an unauthorized flush on my car, however after receiving a proper diagnosis from bmw nothing was even wrong with that cylinder. They want to scam money anyway possible from customers. After the owner told my fiancé she was not her customer because she was asking questions that she did not want to answer because she was being dishonest she claimed she was being combative and hung up on us. My fiancé is a nurse and very professional. Tiffany the owner was upset about being questioned on their work. Please save yourself the havoc of dealing with this company. Unfortunately we will have to take this matter to court for a second time now that we have proof of misdiagnosis. Please look on other sites for reviews prior to letting them touch your vehicle. Dishonest and faulty service. Wanted extra labor (written repair order states oil pan and valve cover gasket leaking although they claim they never said this. If you don't know a diagnosis... then don't put it in writing.) Written copies of statements from a business are kind of hard to brush off as "not true". These repairs were not needed and were in perfect condition according to a genuine BMW dealer and BMW specialty trained mechanic. At first I trusted their opinion.. BIG MISTAKE. I was fortunate to find this family-owned repair shop when my Ram 2500 diesel truck had engine trouble. They got me in the morning I called. Soon they had the truck on the diagnostics and were troubleshooting possible issues. After following through on a few leads, the problems were found, repaired and I was out the door. They didn't try to upsell any other unnecessary parts or services, but instead they gave me advice on how to keep my truck running smoothly. The hourly rate was fair and many services listed had standard prices. I was impressed with the mechanics' work and politeness. While I waited, I observed all the customers being treated with respect and dignity by all the employees including the office girls. A new customer waiting room was being built which will nice for those who can't just drop off their vehicles. I would recommend this shop for both routine and extensive auto repairs. I went to Harrell Automotive to get an inspection done because I was unable to get into my mechanic. I was told the process would take an hour. It ended up taking the business three hours to complete an inspection, then I received a list of problems with my car. Being a young female, I had no idea whether or not those claims were true, so I took the car to my usual mechanic and found that out of the recommendations given, that only one of the five was valid and needed immediate replacing. As well as the excessive list of problems with the car, the pricing for the job required was a lot more than double what I paid to get the repair done at my usual mechanic. In summary, I believe the business is searching for problems to charge for on cars, misleading their customers about the current condition of the car, and prices their services above what I necessary for recommended repairs. read more

AVOID this repair shop! I'd give them zero stars if I could. They are only interesting in trying to screw you over to make money. They over charged me by 100 bucks to get my brakes replaced. And it took them 1.5 days to repair them. Seriously?!? They had me bring in my car at 8am and hadn't even looked at my car till 3pm (until I called asking on the status) and since they still had to order parts I couldnt pick it up till 12 the next day. I declined the following repairs they were trying to convince me i needed because I knew they were full of sh!t: told me I needed a power steering flush that I had done less than 20k miles ago. They broke my key last week and told me that they ordered a replacement. It took a week for my replacement key and they have been holding my car off it seems like because I'm not getting any updates whatsoever. I called them two times and all they kept saying on the phone was "Oh we understand your frustration we will call you back" and no call back. I'm not from the area, but my truck wouldn't start as I was on my way out of town. I called Harrell early in the day and was told they could fit me in; unfortunately I wasn't able to get towed there for several more hours. Despite the fact that we barely made it before the shop was due to close, the mechanics chose to not only take a look, but to order a new starter and get it installed that evening! Every employee that I encountered was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and more than helpful. They also gave me a great price for more than quality service and knowledgable workmanship. Do not take your BMW here. The technicians are clueless. The work is slow, sloppy. They caused so much damage I had to take the car to the dealer service to repair the $3000 worth of air-hammer damage Harrell caused to the rear axles while trying to replace wheel bearings. Both rear axles had to be replaced due to the damage. They provided zero cooperation when trying to get compensated for the damage. read more

I brought my car to Harrell's to for an inspection and to discuss dents in the rims of my wheels. Once they had my car on the lift, they convinced me that it was unsafe and unethical to consider bringing the steel rims to be reshaped, I have since learned that this is not true. I asked them to call junk yards to try and find replacement rims, they claimed that "the factory rims must have been poor quality since there were none to be found used" and convinced me to purchase 4 new after market steel rims. After constant problems with the wheels and my tire pressure indicator, I brought my car to a dealership. The Dealership informed me today that they had sold me the wrong sized rims. This likely accounts for the free play in the steering and for the problems with the tire indicator light. Additionally Harrell's showed me cracked brake pads that even at the time I did not think came off my car. I had recently had the car extensively looked over prior to moving to Pennsylvania and the breaks were not old. Since the break pads were identified during a safety inspection I was stuck. I had to buy new breaks and rotors for them to pass my car. Finally, they came in about 100 dollars over their initial estimate, because their quote, they claimed did not include shop fees and waste disposal. From day one I felt that I had been ripped off, and now 2 years later to find out that the rims they convinced me to buy were not even the correct part adds insult to injury. If you are car savvy and want a mechanic that does high quality work, I am sure they there are fine. But if you are a young female car-naive costumer they will rob you blind. read more
