Apparently the divey member of the family which includes the storied Carrington and hip Old City Bank, I was enticed by a board advertising schnitz and a pint for $20. After a Blue Mountains walkabout, I was in need of a feed and water.
Some details suggested the place gets rowdy. The pool table and pokie room seemed most popular for the local daytime crowd. The few tables up by the bar were occupied by obvious tourists like us and an English expat living in the area for decades.
Service was cheerful yet efficient. The food was tastier than I assumed it'd be: my schnitz had a nice crisp crust and I prefered it plain to the cup of sauce provided. My friend's burger was one of the best we had in Oz.
We had our feed and water while watching news on 2 TVs above the bar, chatting with our friendly neighbor.
