Hal assisted me and I can't say enough good things about him. Genuine and takes the time to listen to every detail.

Keay & Costello

I was kind of arrogant/dumb, I admit it -- I initially thought we didn't need no stinkin' lawyer to…read morehelp with our home purchase. But. We quickly wised up and decided it would, in fact, be in our best interest. And so I was referred to Keay & Costello through a yelper who told me his law-school buddy would be glad to help me out. I contacted Doug Sury and retained him/them to handle the purchase of our first home. They charge a flat fee, paid at closing, for this service, and it was comparable to what other firms charge. Basically, they did what we needed them to do, and everything went smoothly. But I felt a little bit like just another number, especially when some junior lawyer (who was perfectly competent, don't get me wrong) showed up for the signing -- I never actually met Doug. I guess he's too high up the food chain. Most of my contact was with the legal assistant, Lisa Carby, who helps him handle his case load. Lisa was always friendly, and replied promptly to my calls and e-mails, and the closing went smoothly. I will say that having a lawyer was invaluable when we needed to cancel our first contract -- because the house was a nightmare, only revealed upon inspection. With a legal team on our side, backing out was no big deal, and we kept going and found the right place, for real this time. I realize for a relatively low price and relatively uncomplicated process I shouldn't expect too much. I did feel like it was a bit of an assembly-line rubber-stamp sort of thing here; I ask a lot of questions and like to really understand what I'm doing and I didn't get a lot of extra explanations. We're pretty smart people but this is a complicated process, so a little extra attention for first-time home buyers might be nice. But really I can't complain -- it all turned out well and we have the keys!
