They said she was 'combative'. That woman didn't even discipline her son much less be combative-she was a college professor and dean of economics at a massive university. She was not combative. If she was with them, it was when we weren't there and had to be for a good reason- like staff did something to her. In less than 6 wks she had 3 falls-all in the night. They were also strapping her down without our knowledge The 3rd fall landed her in the hospital and this place refused to let her return upon discharge! We also had a bad feeling because day 3, the same poor woman was in her wheelchair each day, same clothes and same spot in the day room. We had to bring her home and watch hospice kill her for 2 more weeks. Was a terrible experience. We are posting this review now b cuz we are having to look for a place for 'dad' now & realizing we should have posted sooner to forewarn people. The woman that we interviewed with back then seemed nice but we now know this was all part of her 'selling the place' act. They only care about collecting your money here - not your person(s) you entrust to them for over $10k a month. We do not recommend this place at all. We have heard great things about Zon Beachside tho-checking that next.

I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend The Fountains of Melbourne. The overall facility is set in a very picturesque landscaping arrangement with attractive buildings, ponds, and trees. I do know someone who lives there so I am familiar with what goes on inside. A person could spend all their time at The Fountains and be fulfilled I think. Dining, entertainment, get-togethers, parties, just a myriad of special events. There are programs for personal enrichment particularly geared towards our older population as well as programs that anyone might benefit from. A person need not spend their whole time at The Fountains as transportation to medical appointments and shopping is available. Also, the residents often go to local events together. The Staff? Well, they are just top notch. Polite, helpful and friendly - you can't beat it. The focus at The Fountains is on the residents and that contains a wide spectrum of efforts that I've only touched on. If you are considered a facility such as The Fountains, you really do owe it to yourself to go there, tour the place and talk to Staff. Don't make a decision before giving them a look. You won't regret it.

The support staff is amazing from the smallest thing like bumming a battery to the biggest thing of planning events! Joining the group of "Senior Specialists" in the America's Best Hearing office has been one of the best job moves of my life. I have had offices in at least 5 other medical parks. That's very nice and what I have always considered "ideal". This setting rises far above that. I say that especially because of the capacity for events. Education on these special senior concerns is a huge part of navigating this part of life. When we are young, we have parents, teachers, coaches, youth leaders...That help is needed for sure. What about this senior part of life? I say we need all the help we can get and its here at One Senior Place!

She would always call me right after her visits every week to report on his status. She was always pro-active, in trying to maintain his quality of life and care. If she needed to come in more than once per week because of a problem, she would be there. She made my father feel special, and that he mattered to her. He would always smile when she would come in to see him. The other workers that would come in to help him were just as attentive. Allison, who would shower him 3 times per week, Donna a volunteer, who would come every week to see him, Stanley the Chaplain, who would give him comfort, and Jason the social worker, who would visit him often as well. Finding a place where a loved one will spend his or her final days is difficult, to say the least…read more The William Childs Hospice House was on the top of our list for two reasons: its proximity to Palm Bay Hospital and the fact that it does not refuse patients who do not have insurance. William Childs is a non-profit hospice, run entirely on donations by generous community members and the families of former patients. Because of its non-profit status, William Childs does not refuse service to patients who cannot pay because of financial difficulties or lack of insurance. My father was on Medicaid, which does not normally cover hospice care, was brought in to William Childs, anyway, because he was ill and not going to recover. The staff here are amazing. Everyone from the volunteers to nurses to social workers are incredibly kind, caring and understanding. I always felt like each of the people at WCHH were genuinely concerned about my father and my family. They all exhibit a clear understanding of the purpose of hospice and are willing to assist patients and families in whatever they need to make a person's final days as comfortable as possible. Though the circumstances of one's stay are always unfortunate, WCHH is a place that cares for its patients in a way I have never seen in a hospital or nursing facility. The staff here work to make sure people are at peace in their final hours and I greatly appreciate all of the work that they do. Definitely a wonderful, unique facility that provides the utmost care and service to all who enter the doors.

She was treated with dignity & respect in her last days. All of the staff were informative on every move taken with her & spoke to us daily giving us updates and even reached out to the family to be sure we were ok & if we needed anything! The facility & her room was so clean, comfortable and nothing like a hospital room, with enough space for overnight family to stay if needed. A screened in porch allowing some fresh air into the room affording the chance to be outdoors while still remaining close by! The gratitude we have for this facility is beyond words or star ratings! They will all be forever in our hearts ! THANK YOU just doesn't seem to be enough.

When my mother-in-law, a resident for two years, was sick in ICU, she couldn't wait to go "home, where my friends are, and my cook, Tom!" They don't try to be the fanciest place in town, but it's a warm, homelike atmosphere where she's happy. When Mama was able, every time the wheels rolled on the activity bus, she was on it. When asked where she was going, she would say, "I don't know, but I know I'm going to have fun!" The units or cottages are small enough that those who live there feel like family to each other. It's almost impossible to re-create that feeling in a larger facility. The food is awesome...nutritious and tasty. They're quite accommodating for special dietary needs, too. If you were thinking of placing a loved one here, or going yourself, I think you would be pleased. We are!
