Hello. My name is Brian Jones. I am writing this review because its not fair to Harmony and it's staff, how the few who wrote a review chose to be negative. I been in Harmony for a month today. 30 days alcohol and drug free. Since day one, I have been respected and treated by Professionals and truly caring staff. The staff here goes above and beyond to meet my every need. I have been highly motivated by the staff and group settings, to the extent that I do not wish to drink or smoke Marijuana. I know, there have been alot of people saying negative things about this place. I can personally say that the majority of those who are complaining are ones who are upset because they are not allowed to use or break the rules without facing consequences or removal from the program. In order to truly obtain what the program has to offer, you must truly want it! Too many people come in here to play and try to game this program. If they was not confronted and punished for their actions, then they would over run the program and make it impossible for someone like myself to advance in my sobriety and my opportunity to be successful in life. This program have me already loving the things I thought was lost forever in my life. This program have me becoming a more productive human being emotionally, spiritually, and physically, as I go forward with obtaining my license, my CDL, a decent job, my own crib, and a down payment for my own car. How? I'm glad you ask. Because this program have shown me that it is ok to love me and feel my own emotions. It shown me that I still am somebody who have a great chance at succeeding, and becoming a successful man and human being. Harmony is an Excellent place for those who are serious about and truly ready for a change. They have some excellent programs. Can they do better in some areas? Of course they can. Hopefully Those within the Harmony family can work on polishing the Gems within. Where there is opportunity there can also be gains. Harmony have by far the best housing and cleanliness houses i have seen. Can we the Harmony family improve conditions in the housing area? Of course we can! That is why communication is so important. Do I have a suggestion on how to make Harmony better? Of course I do. I will simply offer one. I would suggest that we create house leaders for each unit. To help maintain the house needs as well as the security of our homes. Because staff cannot be everywhere at once. The same leaders will function as a committee to address all issues with staff, so as to limit the needs of the community and be a voice for those who feel voiceless. Finally, would I recommend Harmony to anyone I know? Yes. I would recommend Harmony to everyone who is serious about making a change in the substance dependency or mental challenges. It's hard for me to give this place a 1 star out of respect to some of the amazing few staff members that actually made this place somewhat okay, but I found this place not really benefitting anyone except people who were court ordered. If you are voluntary and you genuinely want help, this may not be your place. Unfortunately the best part is just being away from your normal surroundings for a month. I understand (having been to several other rehabs) that everything isn't going to be perfect, and things are going to sometimes be disorganized, but Disorganized is the best word to describe Harmony. They can't even figure out who's on which van most mornings, unable to leave the housing until 9:10-9:20am. Understandably the techs have a hard job, especially when dealing with some of these hurt individuals and unruly patients that act 14, But showed they had trouble controlling and handling anything. The tech's disorganization caused a bunch of confusion, non-professionalism, and upset patients. I knew multiple people that relapsed throughout my time there. It was not uncommon to find out someone relapsed at housing. Lack of real searches and easy accessibility to sneaking off made it too easy for some people. Some patients would sneak down the road when techs walked away and buy alcohol or other things, only to bring alcohol back to housing after buying them. You would think it would be hard when there's literally cameras everywhere outside, but it never prevented anyone from sneaking off and getting drugs or alcohol. I only did the 30 day php program, but I've heard horror stories from people that were and are currently in IOP. A large amount of relapses from lack of guidance is normal. The housing conditions weren't amazing either. There is mold in every bathroom of the housing. If you are not court ordered, please stray away from going here read more

Absolutely atrocious, Harmony Recovery Center not only doesn't help, they intentionally try and force people to relapse. So they can get more insurance money when clients have to return. There is no continuum of care , or planning for reentry. The administrative staff is horrible, Vern Ballard is an angry jaded, addict in recovery, that has the mentality of a pimp, breaking people down to build them up how she sees fit. If you speak out about the atrocities, they actively try and kick you out. During my time at Harmony I had a building collapse on my head, saw a Tech come to work High, and they lost my personal items that they confiscated upon entry. They operate under separate entities so that when an issue arises they can pass the buck . Taking no responsibility for their mistakes. I was supposed to continue into IOP but they had no housing available, and they didn't schedule me any follow up appointments for my medications or Mental Health concerns. I went to Harmony to Help with my mental health after my Pregnant Fiancé passed. My PTSD and anxiety have gotten substantially worse. The curriculum is the same day in and day out, and I was told by multiple clients that the things I shared helped them learn more than the entirety of their stay. This place is nothing but a money racket, they truly do not care. I you want to get better do not go to Harmony. This place needs to be shut down to prevent the suffering of addicts in recovery, who need care, compassion, and a safe environment to get their lives back on track. read more

My friend went here and told me nothing but HORRIBLE things. As a Nurse, i am horrified by the med errors, lack of therapy AND lack of therapeutic communication. The nurses and doctors are not available even on the weekends (which is literally unheard of). The activities that are usually meant for therapy and distraction for addiction, made them feel worse about themselves, and bored beyond belief. They said that all of the other clients also complained of the same things, even the nurses did not seem to want to be here. I am typing this for my friend, because the facility took their phone, wallet... AND ID, so i'm writing this FOR them. This place is horrible! I left after 10 mins on day 1. I didn't know what I was doing. No one was there to help you. My daughter contracted COVID 4 months ago and began experiencing debilitating anxiety/depression/panic attacks with the lingering "long" COVID. She is no stranger to anxiety having it controlled for years. After 4 ER visits and dr put her on Ativan to combat the attacks she developed a dependency. Enter Ross, loyal employee out of a call center in Tennessee. We thought we were contacting a Charlotte organization! In our vulnerable frantic call for HELP we reached out to Harmony (aka Ross) who's soft, understanding and "been there" voice assured us Harmony can "most definitely help" my daughter with the detox and mental rehab afterward. He told us they have the 'medical' staff to help with the physical withdrawals and the counselors to help with the mental rehabilitation. Sigh of relief this was the answer and we agree. He then drops the bomb that her detox would take place in a different facility in Atlanta and how quickly could we get her there. WTF?! Vulnerable and desperate we overlook that minor setback and are on the road within the hour. Fast forward.. detox was EXACTLY what she needed and went as hoped but not without lingering questions about the hows, where and what the next steps would be. More calls to Ross and more reassuring conversations about how he's our advocate and we can reach him anytime. She was successfully discharged after 10 days. Perfect-no complaints!! Nightmare begins. She is transported from Atlanta to Charlotte and rushed into Harmony to sign some 30 pages of documents which nobody is given time to read! Withdrawing, scared, anxious and now among more strangers, the day was hell. Her request to do the program outpatient so that she could commute was granted. We met with the medical director, clinical director, executive director about her program and were again assured she would get great care there. Eh, not true. Their idea of help is giving clients 1 hr a week of one-on-one counseling and 4 group sessions a day. There is NO doctor onsite but a visiting doctor will stop by 1 or maybe 2 days a week depending on their schedule. Any medical needs are handled by staff that act as the 'voice' of the doctor when they can reach her. If you are having a physically miserable day you are told it's your anxiety, you need try to calm down and get back to the group. There is penalty if you skip groups. Nauseous and need to take something? nope. Headache and need ibuprofen? nope. Bringing in outside OTC meds to help treat withdrawal symptoms is forbidden. You literally suffer throughout the day and pray you can somehow find some relief somewhere. Ross never told us there is NO pharmacy onsite or that you literally have to submit a medical request then wait for staff to go through their channels to reach the dr to get the script to send to their pharmacy or, God forbid, due to insurance, they have to use your specified pharmacy and then have to find a staff person who has the time to actually go across the street to pick it up for you. You can wait DAYS for meds. In-house clients are getting high and it's overlooked. Diabetic being denied medication for 6 days, another diabetic's insulin left out too long and was then unusable, approved OTC medication for a client never got ordered (they forgot) and they got upset with him(!) for being mad about it, another client complained of side pain and told it was anxiety but later taken to ER and found 3 broken ribs. Medical is a joke. Clinical is a joke. The go-to answer, "it's your anxiety, try to relax" all while you're going through lingering effects of withdrawal and need to MANAGE THE SYMPTOMS!! Harmony is disorganized, dysfunctional and communication is impossible to navigate. They are not 1 size fits all!! They reel you in, make promises they don't keep. You're told one thing and the next day it changes. You have to advocate so much for yourself that you end up being more stressed then when you go in. Ross told us he looked forward to seeing us at Harmony and would be there that week. LIE. He said we could contact him anytime but he wouldn't respond to calls or texts and ignored calls up to the end. Positive reviews are left by staff especially AJ Morrow, Community Outreach-Regional Director! Really!! Red flags from the beginning so listen to your intuition and for goodness sake, DO YOUR RESEARCH before blindly entering their program. Sarah N doesn't need to respond here with the standard HIPPA statement. She states, "..we take great pride in treating our client's with dignity, respect, and the highest level of care." nope Nope NOPE Dignity and respect isn't the nurse rolling her eyes or throwing up her arms in disgust or frustration when she thinks she's out of your sight. Respect isn't being nice to someone only because your boss tells you to. Get over it Patty. Quality care isn't drilling into you "it's your anxiety" and medically doing nothing for you . When I was hired, I thought I was going to be helping people from the bottom of my heart. I myself am in recovery and wanted to help others get to the point where I am today. I wanted this job to be a healing situation, but after I was hired, I was wrong. The idea seemed to help people struggling with addiction get into treatment. But it was a big scam. THIS IS A CALL CENTER. You would think you were "selling" something wonderful, right? Substance abuse and mental health rehabilitation...? However, we were encouraged to lie to clients to any extent to get them into rehab, just so we could have companies charge their insurance and make money. This is a commision job, you make money on every client you place. There is no "culture" of breaks. LEGALLY entitled breaks. On my first day, I asked my supervisor when my lunch break was. He said I would not get one. If I needed time off, I needed to exchange shifts with someone. These are 8 or more hour shifts in the office, and you get a "salary" so you do NOT get paid for all of the overtime work you put into it. And you WILL put in overtime. Every day. You are expected to be "on call" from 8am to around 11pm. No matter what. We work in a call center, and are encouraged to give patients our CELL phone numbers and I would have to take calls at all hours of the night from potential patients. I got the strangest calls, mainly from the hours of 2am-6am. I had to give my cell phone number out or else I wouldn't get my commission pay. My supervisor... let's call him "Bill", One time Bill needed to get a woman into rehab so he could get his commission, and she was pregnant. A coworker and I both heard Bill say, "I hope her baby dies" because he wanted to get her into rehab so he could get his commission check. I learned that when I started out I made less than the men in the company and this was not due to seniority. And I have yet to see my last two paychecks. I was hired due to my identified gender. I brought my resume to the interview, which was not read. I was straight up told that I was perfect for the position due to my "female voice" on the phone. Not because of my Psychology degree or Master's degree in Counseling; because I have a calming woman's voice on the phone. That's all I had to do. I got let go due to my disability. This kind of mental health issue is protected by the American's With Disabilities Act. I was not granted unemployment even though I was let go due to having my functional disability. I have yet to see my latest bonus check or paycheck. read more

Coming back to comment again as Sara N. "Business owner" keeps commenting trying to convince you that this place tries to "help" people. So with that being said, the first day I was here at Harmony I knew something was wrong with these people. They still to this day have my 50 dollars they took from my mother by the way. The first red flag was how mean the workers were (the workers are over worked and treated like garbage so I understand) I had all my stuff taken from me and was told I couldn't have anything back until I completed 30 days. I was only there 3 days and each day felt like an eternity. The only fun we had was getting to go to the stupid park across the road. If you go here you will be in a room for about 9 hours hearing people tell you about god and how drugs are bad. No "everyday" or even weekly therapy with a therapist like they say. Also I talked to many people there (whom had been there for 2 to 3 weeks) said they were in nasty roach filled places and even said they didn't get any of their medication they were prescribed which I can agree because I was prescribed subutex because suboxone (which I'm allergic to and makes me sleepy) they told me I can't take the subutex and made me take suboxone. I felt like I was dying. The ONLY good thing about this place is trauma bonding with your peers and nice staff. I tried to leave the property almost 30 times!!!! And they kept making me walk back trying to keep me there and they managers to make me stay a whole day by walking me back and forth lying to me telling me I'll be able to go home and they'll take me home if I just finish the day. No. Once I was finally able to leave they take u to the nearest hospital and leave u there. It also sucked they stole my money. They barely even wanted to give me my ID back!! Please. If you love your family never go here. I can tell more about my stay on another comment if this "business owner" keeps commenting on others reviews trying to act like they are so professional when they are just out to get your money and traumatize your families. I will forever stand up for anyone who has been here because I know what it feels like to lose someone from addiction. My brother passed and if he ever had to go here I'd be so upset because this isn't a place that helps you at all. In reply to the owner that posted to me. That is a complete lie. There were no covid precautions in place except for an occasional request by a facilitater to use a mask. There was a single gallon jug of hand sanitizer by the sink and we were all forced to stay in our assigned groups, in a closed off room, for most of the day. We were then put on 12 to 15 passenger vans, with NO MASKS...and transported back to our housing. Where, again...ZERO PRECAUTIONS WERE TAKEN. You keep telling yourself you do a good job. This place is a pit of lies. My boyfriend called and talked to someone named ross on the phone. He told him multiple times he cannot wait to see him and that he was gonna give him a big hug and be there for him. He went to detox at a different place then got transferred. When he was being transferred i talked to ross and he told me he had been waiting at harmony to give him a hug. When my boyfriend arrived there was no ross. On top of that he asked an employee. The employee said ross works at a call center in tennessee and rarely ever comes to the charlotte facility. To lie to someone in such a venerable place is absolutely disrespectful and disgusting. Then my boyfriend walked downstairs in housing on his first night there and found someone holding their arm passed out on the couch. Each person he was rooming with stated that they were high on meth. Take in mind this is an inpatient facility and it is so messed up that people can get drugs inside. Then he attended group meetings. The group meeting was all about parenting... not a single one of the patients in there were parents. So he left. Once he left I called ross and he told me to bring him back to talk about everything. I was told that I would be speaking to the owners of the company. When we get there some dude from maintenance talks to us outside in 90 degree weather instead of allowing us inside. Then the man continues to tell my boyfriend that everything he was saying could have possibly happened. how can you run a drug rehab and not monitor people to make sure they are maintaining sobriety. Fuck this place and fuck ross. Oh also during the intake call i counted how many times they brought up the payment. They said " we need the money before you get to detox" about 12 times during the call. A call that is supposed to help someone make the first step into sobriety and they are more focused on the money. Harmony recovery center should be called harmony drug mule because that's what it is. If you want your loved ones to get help. DO NOT BRING THEM HERE!! If my boyfriend didn't get out writhing the first 2 days he would have been using in that facility. FUCK YOU HARMONY!!! They also took his id and lost a 100$ back pack and said that he never brought it in. Read the other reviews and you can see how bad this place is.
