Please before you decide to use this company, look them up on the Better Business Bureau. I wish I…read morehad have. https://www.bbb.org/ca/on/mississauga/profile/moving-companies/happy-ending-movers-0107-1380060 Our experience was nothing short of horrific, including extortion to get all of our belongings back. I heard about this company from a positive experience someone else had. It seems like sometimes they do complete the moving service, and sometimes they take opportunities to extort their customers (see Better Business Bureau complaints). Our experience was: We submitted an inventory and were quoted 5.5 hours of moving with two movers. It took them over 7 hours to load the contents of a one-bedroom apartment into their truck. We found out that they declined an offer from the resident manager to put the elevator on service for them, and moved slowly taking one item out at a time. Video footage of them in the common areas confirmed our suspicion that they were completing the move purposefully slowly. After 7-hours, they told us the truck wouldn't start. When we contacted the company manager, Sam, he was aggressive and confrontational. He threatened to unload all of our belongings onto the street, now at night as the move-out had taken so long. We had to try to talk him down although we were in a position of feeling like we had no power. They took all of our belongings to their facility saying that they would deliver them at some point the next day. They didn't know when. We felt like our belongings were being held hostage, and Sam continued to make threatening remarks. We were very scared of our belongings being somehow damaged or "lost" because of remarks that the manager made. We later learned that the threat was around extorting us for more money, not damage, but we were scared and felt helpless. We had no belongings and had to find somewhere to stay overnight. We read other reviews on Better Business Bureau where the company charges the credit card used for deposits with exorbitant fees or changes quotes overnight. We looked and our quote had changed now to a total of $1400 for a secondary move on the next day. The next day, two new movers arrived at our new home. They refused to unload the truck or turn over any belongings unless we paid a fee of over $2,100 (not including the deposit already paid). Over $1000 more than our original quote. They refused to show us any invoice. The company did not respond to any calls. We felt trapped as they had ALL of our belongings in the truck. We had to pay under protest. We learned that a moving company withholding your items while demanding additional fees is an offence under the Consumer Protection Act. After we later received our invoices, we saw they charged us for multiple travel times which were not used, the full time used by their movers on the first day, and several hours on the second day even though the movers only worked for 1-hour. I have had only positive experiences with movers before using Happy Endings. Please, please do not make the same mistakes that we did by using this company. It is not worth the risk. We found out now that there is a Canadian Association of Movers. Next time we have need, we'll probably choose someone from this association.

If I could give negative stars, I certainly would. This company feels professional at the…read morebeginning, providing you with the ability to make a detailed inventory, which they base their estimate on. They had a cute name, the salesperson seemed helpful - yeah this move will be a breeze, 3 guys can definitely lift that piano, it will only take 5 hours! I went with them due to their estimate, obviously understanding that there may be 10-15% additional costs as an estimate isn't set in stone. As this was my first time using a moving company, I wasn't sure what to expect. The movers themselves were nice, obviously inexperienced, obviously subcontracted, obviously untrained and unprepared - arrived in an unmarked van without the proper materials, took hours to set up the "FREE" wardrobe boxes that were promised, damaged/broke items, wrapped things up with packing tape (which damaged/took paint off shelves, etc.), took twice as long as the quote and required an entire extra person (which wasn't included in the first quote but that I was willing to pay for with the second estimate of $1500), were very difficult to communicate with and didn't even know how to move a box spring through a stairwell properly. We have huge scratches on the walls and front room - my dresser was damaged, a light was completely smashed. The quote that was originally for $1100 went up to $1500 IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVE and then skyrocketed to $2067 when the movers finally finished, although nothing in my inventory changed. Then they fraudulently used the credit card information I put through their website for the one-time $200 booking deposit to charge me the additional $1867, despite the fact that we were in the middle of disputing the charges and compensation for all the damages. This insane move is currently being investigated by my bank as fraud. I was even willing to pay the secondary quote of $1500 and was SHOCKED when the movers handed me the phone at the end of the move to talk to some mysterious guy named Archie from the company who demanded $2067 before they would even talk about addressing any concerns. After hours on the phone arguing with Sam, who appears to be the estimator/salesperson/manager/excuse-maker for the whole scam, and multiple emails that usually take them between 5-10 business days to respond to, they offered a $30 refund for the damaged furniture and a $240 refund for the extra trip they had to make because their moving van was too small/poorly packed to do it in one trip. There was no mention of addressing the damages to my home AND the refund is apparently contingent upon removing any negative reviews online so that they can keep trying to sweep their poor business practices under the carpet. They even tried to dispute my inventory, saying that there were extra items, even though there is no proof of this. Please please please do not hire this company. Save yourself the stress and headache of being scammed and hours trying to defend yourself from a company that obviously does this regularly and seeks to profit from taking advantage of people. I was willing to pay a fair rate for the services provided but they are obviously not willing to be reasonable. Reading the positive reviews here, I'm sure most are spam or paid for. This is a real review from a real person who actually used this company and wishes that she didn't. Like a previous reviewer, I laughed out loud when their most recent email included an offer of a $150 discount on my NEXT MOVE WITH THEM. Sir, please rest assured there will never be a next time with Happy Ending Movers.
