My mother gave the required 30 day notice to move out…read more Since the 30 days was one day into the next month she was required to pay the FULL amount for that month although she was only there one day. We talked to a lawyer who said she had to pay the full amount. In fact his mother passed away in March yet they had to pay for April because she didn't give a 30 day notice

My father 98 fell on January 2, and he was taken to the hospital. He died eight days later…read more Although we were told by the bookkeeper that if we cleared out his apartment, we might get some of the month's rent back, we later learned that the corporation policy requires a 30 day advance notice EVEN WHEN A TENANT DIES unexpectedly. I get it that typical rentals require the full month if a tenant spends any part of a month in a unit....but with NO exemptions for death, this is an incredible money grabbing policy by the company!!! Besides keeping my father's more than $3000 rent for a room he occupied only two days in January, we have not gotten his security deposit returned. The management informed us that his room was in good condition and we could expect to get back his "security deposit" of $1000. It has been almost THREE MONTHS since his apartment was confirmed to be OK and vacated January 15, and there has been no check yet. Each time I call, I am told that the "higher up" office has already cut the check - but it is hard to believe that any form of mail delivery would take three weeks to deliver it. If you are considering placing a loved one in the Hidenwood, make sure that they give a thirty days notice BEFORE they die unless you want to get socked with another month's rent. It will help to make sure they plan to die on the last day of the month so that the company cannot charge an extra month's rent! It's a policy that lacks all fairness and compassion!

My mom spent the night on a cot with her head under the sink (which is on the wall outside the bathroom) and her feet in the hallway. She laid there with a broken arm all night long with no medical attention and no pain meds. By morning the other lady in the room was dead. I got my mom out of there immediately. Recently my mom was in need of a rehab facility again, and we decided to give the Gardens another chance. We'd heard good things about the place and that it had turned a corner. And in fact our experience was not quite as horrendous as the first time, but that is a matter of degree. She was in there for seven days and never got any actual rehab. They evaluated her twice, which consisted of having her walk from her bed to the door of her room and back, twice. But there was no rehab per se. She never left her room. I could see her getting weaker by the day and once again made the decision to get her the heck out of there. One statistic quoted to me by a staff member at the Gardens: two CNAs, 60 patients. Let's say it takes 20-30 minutes to get each patient washed up and ready for bed each night. That's 15 hours a day right there. Not a whole lot of time for anything else. And the need is so great. You can walk up and down the halls and hear patients hollering for help.

This place is terrible and very short staffed. The staff that is here is indifferent and cold and…read moreunsympathetic. My mother in law has been in three I different places and none ever been this bad. Here are some example that are so bizarre I can't even make them up. Day 1: missing her tooth brush and tooth paste and no one seems to know what happened to them. Day 2: Her cup and chapstick have now been stolen . We bought her fresh night gowns. Day 3: Found her in an old hospital gown because they said it was easier to dress her in!!! Really not your decision. Day 4: 11:30am and not even dressed for the day, said they didn't have time. Seriously if you truly care about your loved ones you will choose somewhere else. ** Just look at all the neglected people sitting in the hallway slumped over.
