One of a couple of business's that occupy the lot on the corner. What it is, is basically a warehouse full of alcohol. Like a Bunning's Warehouse of booze. It's huge. Wine's as far as the eye can see and a wide selection of beers and spirits. Ice is available in their freezers and bits and pieces necessary for a party are sold here as well. There is a parking lot out the front and trolley's are available should you be requiring a large amount of grog. While Amato's isn't the cheapest bottle shop, that's not to say that it's expensive, but it is not a discount retailer. Ideal for parties, when you're looking for a brand of beer or wine that is hard to get your hands on and when you're really really thirsty.

Go past the brick wall and around the corner into Norton St and you come across the driveway and parking area for Amato's Liquor. Amato's is a large warehouse-sized (600 sq ft) liquor store that carries wines, spirits and beers from all over the world but apart for a huge range of Australia wine specialises in Italian wines. They have a wonderful selection at all price points so that anyone with an interest, be they novice or confident connoisseur can purchase a bottle of vino Italiano. However, the rest of the world hasn't been left out, 35% of their stock is imported. Like all other liquor stores, they have wine in the fridge, which on a Friday night comes in very handy as there are so many BYO restaurants in the area. They also have case deals for people who want to buy in bulk. A cool-room especially to keep the beer nice and cold is at the front and the spirits and liqueurs are in easy reach on the wall facing the front of the store. With thousands of products in store and over 250 beers, the store can be a little overwhelming but Franc, who owns the store has plenty of help and they are always ready to suggest a product if you're not too sure what to buy. Recommend 100%, a really great place…read more The store itself isn't huge, and it only sells protein powders really, not an overall health store or supplement store, but focuses on protein powders. They say that all protein powders are basically the same, just different labels. If this is true, it puts this industry into a price war. The lowest is the winner. And this store is winning. The mark up can be amazing on these products, so its best to go in with a ratio per kg, or number of serves by price, rather than a price in mind. Protein powders can cost upwards of $50 a kilo (they cost less the more you buy in bulk), and I'm used to paying $30. I've seen in the far reaches on the internet giant 20Kg bags for $13 a kilo, but really, it's a bit unmanageable in those proportions, and buying online means there's no support systems. This place, Madhouse, sells one product I looked at, at $18 a kg. That's a great price! But price is as far as I can help you. If you want to really know about the product, whats in it and how to use it, you need someones advice. Which this store also provides. A great lady at the counter, who was very easy to chat to and very approachable, was able to talk to me about the products and being a sports nutritionist, you felt that she had more weighting to her words. I guess you never know; I think the store only stocks one brand so there may be some bias from within the store, but in my uneducated opinion on the subject, 3 thumbs up, I love the place and am going to keep coming back.

I was pleasantly surprised when i walked in...there wasnt just protein powders...though there was a great selection of those, there was also pre, intra, post workout supplements ...actually pretty much everything anyone who trains would want. What i really liked was the friendly and knowledgable approach of the owner. Ive been to supplent stores where it is clear they are tryin gt oupsell you or put you onto whatever deal they can make the most margin on and not really listen to what yo uare doing or what want to acheive. At this place i didnt get a hard sell but just a lot of really good advice. Whilst i do try to keep abreast of the constant changes i nthe supplent market its almost impossible and what on earth do i know about the difference 1-7 dimeth makes compared to 1-3 but the Suzie did offer me a lot of help and made some great suggestiosn not just about my supplement use but my training and diet. It has started to pay off in and out of the gym. WHne i did finally decide on what i wanted I was also surprised at the price. I didnt expect internet pricing but it wasnt far off....add postage and its not far off, plus i dont have to wait for aust post to decide to deliver. So im not sure if its the aussie dollar or i have been getting ripped off at other stores but i left with a few more dollars in my pocket and for added vlaue great customer service. So all in all i would recommend a visit if you want a great selelction of products and soemone who knows what they are talking about....so much these days customer service has gone out the window. Ive been back regualarly for the past couple of months. It might be a little bit of a drive but i think its worth it.
