The field used to be a great place for adult rec soccer on Saturday nights. We have played there…read moremany many years. They recently bought new turf designed for turf shoes and did not allow cleats on the field. The teams all knew each other and played each other with respect, it was a rec league. It was recently bought by Game Time, since then it has went down hill. They started allowing cleats on the turf. They don't vacuum the turf like intended, so you have clumps of turf grass built up all around. We had a ref that controlled the game really well, he knew it was a rec league and not competitive, but they try and pull in the refs from Game Time who don't know the players and don't control the game. They Brough in new teams, usually that is great, we love playing new teams. Rec style. the new teams are not there for rec soccer, they play like it is a matter of life or death. We have played there for many years with very few incidents. We have more incidents over the last year since the buy out because the new teams are not the for rec soccer, they are there for combat soccer. We play for the love of the game and for exercise. They won't separate Saturday into competitive and rec. Again, we love new teams that don't purposely cleat you, stomp on your foot, body check you into the wall, tackle you from behind, shove you out of the way, elbow you, or just flat lower their shoulder and not even try for the ball. The new ref's are just there for the money, they only call things after it has gotten out of control. If they continue to bring in teams like that, then they can have it. The field was a great place before, if they want to keep teams there on Saturday night to make money, they need start making the changes now. Most of the rec players are older and don't do the bar scene, so if they run us out, they probably won't have a Saturday night. I don't think most younger people think of soccer on a Saturday night. I think they rather be out hanging with their friends. But if they do run us out, I guess we can always try and see how the Spooky Nook will be at running a rec league.

We stopped by the week before Thanksgiving and were treated to a personal tour by the director (I think that's who she was), who was in the middle of decorating for Christmas. She was kind enough to show us around and tell us some stories about the house and the family. It was a lovely little detour and well worth the stop.

The course is absolutely beautiful and well laid out. When it's fall and the trees are changing color it's a beautiful site. The biggest thing though is the people. Everyone I spoke to or dealt with could not have been nicer and more professional. They and the course truly make Moraine a top notch golf experience. It's easy to see why they are ranked in the top 70 in the United States by Golf Magazine.

It appeared to be recently updated or very well maintained which I very much appreciated. The room featured a huge glass double sided fireplace that overlooked the green. It was gorgeous and gave our party of 22 people a lovely setting. The servers provided a drink bar with ice for cold beverages as well as hot beverage selections. It was done very nicely prior to our meal and was constantly refilled. Our plated meals were all served together and they were absolutely delicious. I was blown away by the quality and the temperature of the entrees. Other guests commented as well. I opted for the chicken piccata and it did not disappoint. Fresh vegetables and perfectly seasoned chicken on a bed of rice. The other dish was salmon and it also was delicious to according to other diners. I always appreciate the ability to serve large groups a warm meal that looks plated nicely. I would love to come back and experience an evening meal and explore the other rooms.

I have had a very positive stay at Decker Stables. While no place is perfect, the facility is…read moreundergoing long term renovations and the owner (who is really nice) works almost daily fixing fences, repairing the driveway, etc. It is true, the place needs a lot of work, but when things are broken the repairs are usually done the next day. Some of the pens get pretty muddy during the rainy season, but I have never seen a barn that doesn't. They feed and water once a day. You get 3 flakes of quality hay in the morning and evening, daily turnout during the warm months (weather permitting), three servings of shavings every week, an indoor and outdoor arena, and trails. They also have a really good trainer on site as well as a 4-H group, and the price of board is very, very reasonable. The staff has been very helpful and they really care about the horses. The other boarders are warm and welcoming and everyone works together. You really can't beat that!
