I used to go to one hygienist and she was fantastic no questions asked, always helped me and was very friendly. I walked into Glenmore family dental care today in pain looking for assistance. The hygienist took me back to her room did not introduce herself and was incredibly cold. I sat in the chair and proceeded to tell her my problem. Explaining to her that due to financial issues and waiting for my benefits that I wouldn't be able to get my coverage for another month but was in pain so I asked if she could help me. Due to that I would book a full check up for January. I haven't had a cleaning in a while, she looks at me and says I don't believe that you're going to get a cleaning done next month. So legally I Can refuse to help you. ?????????? I was absolutely baffled. She said I required a full cleaning and check up today for her to help me. I unfortunately did not have the money for that but again I assured her I would be back if she could help me today. I could afford a smaller amount of scaling. For the second time she looks at me and says she does not believe that I'm going to come back so she doesn't want to put her license on the line? I didn't realize that scaling my bottom teeth would be such a sacrifice to her licence. Then to add insult to injury she proceeds to tell me that she feels I'm using the lack of insurance as another excuse to not getting my teeth done. How can she begin to understand my financial situation in the past few years and judge me upon that? After what felt like an incredible awkward silence she tells me that she will do it and leaves the room. I can hear her talking to somebody in the other room. She comes back with another lady who I assume is the manager. She proceeds to explain the same thing and tells me that they cannot help me. The manager tells me to go to a hygienic clinic???? I have no idea what she was talking about. She didn't ask what was going on with me or how I was feeling towards the situation. Or how my mouth was in pain. I just needed her to do some scaling on my bottom teeth that was it. Never had these problems before until they switch over their entire staff. This is the exact reason why there are so many people that do not go to the dentist as often as they can, they are left feeling shamed and embarrassed about not being able to afford a regular check up. And being shamed when you finally can get the help. I can only speak for this one hygienist I have not met the others. I left in tears and emotionally drained. My family and I have been going to that clinic for years and now have to start fresh with a new dentist. I strongly suggest if you were looking for a kind hearted dental office to seek assistance elsewhere. It's all about the money with those guys. Good luck

I have been going to this dental practice for years. Before and after the new management took over…read more I have had nothing but great treatment and service. I need my bottom teeth scaled regularly so I am there a lot. Yes it is expensive but they do have financial plans to help with that. The current hygienist Mary Anne is very competent and friendly and puts those of us who may be a little afraid at ease. She does a thorough job and I have never left feeling uncomfortable. I would reccommend this dental practice to anyone. Dr Martin is very amiable and discusses all your options and never pressures you to have any work done.

Our family has been going to Dr. Glenn Chan's dental office for almost 10 years…read more He removed my kids wisdom teeth and even managed to make them laugh for most of the appointment. I've only had cleanings there however my husband who I must admit has quite a few fillings has had a couple root canals and crowns with Dr. Chan. Glenn was prompt and very gentle and pretty reasonable. I like that he handles our insurance and that there is tons of parking. I also like that he takes his time and doesn't rush me through my questions. Great office, great dentist. Thanks.

Age 8 was told I had 3 cavities. Got 2 filled & had an apt. for the other. Missed the 2nd apt. Next…read moredentist apt. age 13 with a different dentist & gave me a clean bill of health. (that last cavity disappeared??) Next apt. age 20 to remove wisdom teeth. Now I'm 34 & never had any real issue with my teeth but a friend suggested I go for check up & cleaning. I chose Dr Glen Chan because reviews said he's "understanding." "Very fair about what he charges" "doesn't recommend procedures that are unnecessary to make more money" (I didn't find this to be true) I get a cleaning done & get a clean bill of health. I decide to do whitening because I quit smoking. They notice my 2 old fillings. Dr Chan said "we can change those to white for you." I say "really!" He says "yea we do it all the time." Side note: Chan's bedside manner is non existent.. not good or bad. He smiles & is pleasant but seams he's to rushed, gives quick answers, no time to explain anything. Though the Reception Ladies are wonderful. He changed the fillings, fast quick & painlessly. As I'm leaving I'm told to expect tenderness that'll last 3-4 mon. Wish they'd mentioned this prior to doing it. Also wish they'd told me that unless it's necessary you shouldn't F with your teeth because any time you get anything done there's a chance of infection. If I was told this I wouldn't have changed the fillings as there was no issue with them. Months later & teeth are still sensitive. I book an apt but they're so busy I can't get in right away. By my apt. date I'm not having pain so I cancel. A few weeks after I cancelled my apt. I got horrible shooting pain from one of the teeth that he replaced the filling in. Called dentist office, Dr Chan wasn't in but the other dentist, Dr Harker was, so they book me in for an emergency visit. Even though Dr Harker was busy I felt he listened to me & explained things to me. He prescribed antibiotics & pain killers. He told me the pain should subside as the antibiotic takes effect, in about 2 - 3 days. He said that I need a root canal & crown. The quote $3400.00... all because Dr Chan didn't tell me of the possible consequences of changing fillings. 4 days later, Sunday afternoon & the pain is getting worse. Pain killers aren't helping. I had taken 800mg ibuprofen & 2 T3's & am almost in tears, holding my jaw, rocking back & forth... I'm also suffering from a side effect of the antibiotics, diarrhea, a mean case of diarrhea. I call Dr Chan's office Monday morning & tell his assistant what's going on I mention I've looked on line & it suggests trying different antibiotic & pain killer. She must not have liked this because she got so rude. She told me "Dr Chan said he will not change the antibiotic as it's the best one for the infection" She wanted me to book an apt. right away for a root canal. I said that it would have to wait a week or 2 until after an exam I was studying for. Then she got really mad & let me go. A while later she called back, she was far nicer, & said she talked to Dr Chan & he could call in another prescription for the same antibiotics & a different pain killer. Though before she called me back I was so upset that I called a different dentist that my sister had went to & made an appointment with him. He tested my tooth to make sure the root was actually dead. He told me all my options not just a root canal. His quote for root canal & crown was $2400.00. A week after I finished taking the antibiotics my mouth starts to hurt again, the next day my face is noticeably swollen (looked like I had a baseball in my mouth) It's Easter Friday, I call the dentist office & they are closed but they do list home #s for both Dr Chan & Dr Harker on the answering machine. I call Chan & left a message, then just to be safe I call Dr Harker as well. Dr Harker got back to me with in 20 min & apologized... said he hoped I hadn't been waiting long, as he was driving through the mountains & just got reception. He listened as I explained the situation, I told him about the side effects of the last antibiotics. He talked to me about different antibiotic options & he told me what to watch for with the swelling so I would know if/when I would need to go to the hospital. Then he called a prescription in to my pharmacy, but before he let me go he also gave me the # to the cabin where his family were staying. It's been 3 days so far & I still haven't heard from Dr Chan. I'm sad to say I've lost trust in dentists. I just feel Chan was more concerned with making money then making the safe & healthy decision for me. Why didn't he just warn me... I wouldn't have done it. Now it has been almost 8 months of being in some degree of pain or another & it's not even over yet. AND it's going to cost me so much money that I don't have. P.S. Just from my experience I would recommend Dr Harker over Dr Chan
