The staff (that I encountered) were all great! I get really scared during dental appointments, & really anything I know won't be comfortable. They seem so much more gentle than other dentist/dental hygienists. When I'd flinch, they'd ask if I'm okay rather than getting annoyed & telling me it doesn't hurt, like other dentists I've been to. One (possible) down side, they charge for how long you're with the dentist, rather than each treatment being done as one payment each. Not sure how much of a difference this makes however because I imagine that would make it harder to over charge for a treatment.

Dr. Art Piercy Owner ---------------------------- He flat out refuses to give reasonable rates, graduated in the 70's and feels his "experience" allows him to "price gouge." Keep in mind computers didn't even exist back then. Previous Employee Tells us How it Works --------------------------------------------------------- Art bills each "dentist" a set fee for each procedure they do. Ex: Root Canal, (3 roots/filling) Art gets $1148 for everyone sold and the dentist gets % of what's left over. They charge $1500 PLUS $300 for the filling. Each "dentist" is billed out at full rate, No matter the what country or year graduated. Your Dentist will try to max your Insurance --------------------------------------------------------- Look for a dentist with reasonable rate. Retail price for root canals in Edmonton around $500 and Calgary around $1000. One of art's "special root canals" will cost you $2000 and will max out most insurance plans. I called and they were able to squeeze me in, and an hour and a half later I was in a dental chair with Dr. Greg Cumberford at the helm. He made his assessment, explained what needed to be done and answered all of my questions. An appointment was made to facilitate pulling the tooth and I left Scenic Acres with prescriptions for antibiotics, pain meds, contact phone numbers if I had concerns or problems, and a huge sense of relief that I was in good hands. I have just returned home from having my tooth pulled and I am amazed at how smoothly everything went. I'm almost 61 and I think I can now say that I'm no longer afraid to go to the dentist. Thank you to Dr Cumberford and the Scenic Acres Dental team for helping me through this. I need to add how reassuring it is to have the dentist give me a cellphone number to call if I have any issues whatsoever. Dr Greg went even further by contacting me after the emergency visit, and after the tooth removal visit, to ensure that I was okay and wasn't experiencing any complications. Having my teeth cleaned is something I do not particularly enjoy, but Kim and Chantal, two of the hygienists at Sandstone Dental, make having your teeth cleaned as relaxing an experience as it possibly could be. I have never loved going to the dentist, but at this office I feel my dental health is priority number one, and I feel at ease knowing all the staff are competent, professional and kind.
