After two family members completed braces with this business I made a pragmatic decision to send my two other kids to a different orthodontist. This decision wasn't based on quality of work. Orthadontia isn't heart surgery and you're likely to get the same great results no matter who you end up using. The outcomes met expectations. What is dodgy are their billing practices, aggressive pressure to get your kids into "two-stage" braces (basically paying for braces twice), and repeated sales calls trying to get your other kids into braces asap was all just too much... Oh and don't get me started with their billing department consistently trying to bill our insurance company even though they already hit the payment limit long ago. Don't they realize that I get an email from my insurance company every time someone tries to bill against the insurance? My other kids have braces now from a different Orthodontist. Surprisingly the new orthodontist said "two stage" wasn't applicable in their cases. Tip - If your orthodontist pressures you into two-stage braces from day one get a second opinion. Two-stage braces should be the exception, but more and more orthodontist groups are making it the default recommendation. read more

Recently I contacted Dr Hardie's Office for an appointment to replace an upper teeth wire retainer I thought was lost. Turns out it was just misplaced, but I decided to keep my appointment since it has been at least 4 years since any adjustments to my retainers. Dr Hardie examined the fit and bite of my retainers wearing them and concluded I did not need new retainers. I originally started my orthodontic treatment with Dr. Hardie in 2007, I found the paperwork prior to this visit, when I was in my late fifties. Dr Hardie cares about his patients he's seeing. I went to him as a teenager for braces and had a great experience. As an adult 10 years later my built in retainer broke and I went in to get it fixed. I had my braces through Hardie Orthodontics about 7 years ago and I loved my teeth when I got them off! I had a permanent retainer on my top teeth this past week a broke it(my fault) while I was extremely worried bc of the quarantine I was thinking I wouldn't be able to get it fixed. We go to the Rancho Bernardo office and couldn't be happier with the office staff, and our orthodontist, Lily Workman. Our initial visit was in November- where we discussed all options with our son, and came upon a decision that worked for all of us. really like the fact that they could wait for our phase 1 treatment until summertime so my son didn't need to deal with the palette spreader during school time. I'm usually not one to talk negatively about things, but I can't let this go unnoticed. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE TO ANYONE! A few weeks ago my child was going in for the "Big Appointment" BRACES! After getting his braces placed, he began to tell my wife and myself that the doctor became very angry during the procedure. He mentioned that Dr. Hardie was not only throwing supplies, but talking poorly to his staff and actually walked away in the middle of placing his braces. This company massively failed at the end of this relationship. The work was average not bad but not far from expectation. We purchsed braces for my teenage son with no insurance around $6000. They approved for payments of 36 month. We made the effort to pay and payed it off and finished the balance within 12 months. So the day day came to remove the braces 3 years later. Cool we were excited! Then we got a call that we could NOT get the braces removed until $400 was payed. They clamed that we missed 20 some appointments and that we had to pay for those missed appointment. One we 100% denied this. We asked why wouldnt you tell us after 2 or 3 missed? Why wouldn't you send a bill the 1st time we missed? How could a company allow that so many missed appointment were missed with out getting payed. Now i agree we might have missed a couple..but at 20 missed apppintment that means we missed almost every appointment? I must be the worst customer ever by never showing up? Since we new the law we told them they could not deny continued treatment so they took them off with a $50 payment towards the $400. Too bad this company was not happy with my $6000.
