It was awesome to learn the history of the local area and a super bonus was to learn about the history of Altus Air Force Base . I have to say my favorite part was the curators. Our favorite is ringing the bell on the old steam locomotive. The price is right for a Saturday with a little time to spare. The hours are a little short or sometimes they could be closed. This is acceptable to me, the staff is volunteer. I recommend to maybe call ahead if travelling a linger distance.

I felt bad for the guy who came after me that took his wife... Price was $3 or something stupid like that. I have no idea how it exists but the town itself is very sleepy. I loved the sounds of the town. Just, not, much, going, on. It's not huge. It's digestible. It covers a lot of topics in 2 large rooms. There is a lot of content here though and you can do it all and be ready to leave by the time you are done. I would definitely recommend to any deep fan of wrestling.

We don't come to Knox City but once in a while to visit family. In the past, we've walked by this…read morebuilding all borded up and didn't think much of it. Recently, we walked by and the atmosphere was completely different. The boarded up windows were no more and it was chunk full of really awesome stuff from automotive as well as Knox City history. You step inside and it almost seems like you've instantly stepped into one huge time capsule. You see all of Glen Large's "junk" organized in a beautiful way throughout the place. He calls it junk, but we found it to be a treasure trove of history. There are displays all around the place that show little tidbits into the lives of people who lived in Knox City back in the 50s and 60s. It is a large museum and you pretty much can't look at everything in one sitting. In the back, Glen himself was working on some more '57 Fords for his collection. If you are an automotive enthusiast, you'll almost certainly enjoy having a conversation with him. Even if you just want to talk about growing up in a small town in the 50s and 60s, he's your man to speak to. You'll even find out that one particular '57 Fairlane he has in his collection was one that he saved up for as a young man, purchasing it in '58. It still looks like a dream. This is probably the best musuem in the area- and possibly one of the only ones. However, if you come across it, I do recommend it- especially if you're into classic cars or just want to brush up on some local history.

If you don't believe me - just listen to Waylon Jennings sing "Bob Wills Is Still the King". We had a local "cowboy-docent" meet-us at the museum. Don was a wealth of anecdotes, stories of the band and shared a bunch of stuff we didnt know including Bob's influence on Willie Nelson, Waylon, Lee Roy Parnell and even Paul McCartney. The museum itself is just what you would expect - tons of pictures, record albums, some costumes and some more modern stuff recognizing the Bob Wills Days festival each year in Turkey, Tx. The museum is in a local municipal building so that you can also visit the senior center, get flu-shots at the medical clinical or get hitched by the justice of the peace - all in the same hallway. :). Lastly - don't miss the old high-school next door - as its clearly haunted...
