My husband got the Pastrami Burger, I built my own double and we shared the Farmers Fries. We won't even talk about the house Garlic Aioli, yummy! Even the pickle spear was good! Customer service was on point too! We didn't wait for anything and we were constantly asked if we needed anything from all the staff. Everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. Bonus...this spot was clean.... Like clean clean! I have a bit of OCD and everything from the booth, hanging light over the booth and even the pictures on the wall near where we were sitting was spotless. We were seriously impressed especially since this was our first time eating there. We've been in Williamsburg for nearly 2 years and we waited 2 years too long! I've always had a pleasant time dining in, the staff has always been attentive to refill my drinks, and they always are willing to entertain a conversation with me, or entertain me with their conversation. Beauvine, in my opinion, is a staple of Richmond's food scene and is a MUST to anyone new or visiting the city and wants a fantastic, and reasonably priced, burger. With all that said, I think the name needs to change, Beauvine Burger isn't just a concept anymore, it's an entire thought.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. We ended up getting a couple of burgers, a hot dog and a set of sliders. Plus fries and sweet potato fries. The winner of the night were the sweet potato fries with a pineapple dipping sauce! I don't normally go for sweet potato fries, but they were so well prepared and tasty! We had a golden cake (cue K-Pop Demon Hunters theme music) which was golden cake with chocolate frosting, and a few strawberry cakes. Both were moist, and verdict on the Strawberry cake is that it was sweeter than expected. I thought the meal was a win overall.
