Stopped on way back home to OKC from Topeka KS visiting family.(Travel plaza) The bathrooms were clean and had two family bathrooms which was a plus!!!! The place is spaced out and is a good stretch your legs stop. We went over to Hardee's as it was time for lunch. The Dunkin line was also full I'm guessing as overflow of the long Hardee's line. All orders were placed in Togo bag. Masks were on heads of staff...not necessarily over nose/mouth but I'm not the mask enforcement team. Food came out hot so that was good. Food was prepared and it was out in a decent quick amount of time. The bag didn't have sauces in it or napkins...so back up in the line to retrieve those items. We cleaned off our own table. Fountain drink had some syrup mixing issues on one side I found out the hard way. Staff was nice. This was a stop we would make again... hopefully it will be a smoother operation by then. Listen up Hardees. Your store is located in Service Area on a Toll Road. That means travellers who need gas/rest/bathrooms/food are going to be stopping here. They will be travelling at all times of the day. Travellers travelling at night need to eat too. This means y'all need to be open at all times if you want to operate in a Service Area. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Worst hardies ever!!! They parked us, then brought out limp cold fries, burgers not even wrapped correctly and cold, so nasty. If I had a top ten list of favorite fast food items, a Hardee's Mushroom and Swiss burger would be at the number 1 spot. I have been whining to my husband for almost ten years about how much I want one. (They don't have them in Texas). Ten lonnnng years. So, while traveling from Texas to Kansas, guess what we passed after we entered Texas?! YES!! Hardee's! I finally got my Mushroom and Swiss and it was every bit as amazing as I remembered it. The sautéed mushrooms in that golden gravy...such a perfect accompaniment to their burger. It will probably be another ten years before I get one again, but for now, I am one happy foodie!! Stopped here just cuz we were hungry and could not find a McDonald. Nasty breakfast food. I got sausage cheese biscuit and it was so salty I had to throw it halfway. The monster was way too salty too. Customer service was not great. Unless you are starving, then stop. Only gave a 1* for their hash brown. read more

Honestly the worst experience ever. When placing my order, I had a request for extra mustard and pickles, and crispy bacon. She literally made a huffing sound and said they are going to be pissed at her about "so many requests" SERIOUSLY? She was looking at me like I was some sort of alien. Absolutely zero employees were smiling, the ones bringing the food and even the manager there were like zombies. Once getting our food, my boyfriends order was wrong, as they put mayo instead of ketchup. He went up and said "hey, this has mayo on it" and she said, "well YEAH" with an attitude. He had clearly stated, twice, that it was to be ketchup instead of mayo. They make it seem like any request is absolutely a slap in the face or they are too stupid to fulfill even the simplest things. Not to mention, the burgers were cold. We have stopped at this service area at least 40 times while traveling and have never eaten here. Yesterday we were starving so we drove through. We had the 1/3 cheeseburger and curly fries. It was actually excellent. I hate fast food but was very pleased with the food. The drive through service however left something to be desired. On 7/5 at 1:30 pm, I stopped at the kS Turnpike Hardee's - Towanda. The worker with which I attempted to order thru, wasn't wearing a mask. Of her fellow employees, 2 were wearing masks, but they were around their chins; not covering the mouth or nasal area of the face. What's the point? They aren't operating in a safe or compliant way, so I told the worker "nevermind, I'll eat elsewhere" Ridiculous! read more

I have been traveling in turnpike the last several weekends and stopped in for a burger four separate times. The first visit was flawless, food was perfect, service was great, was in and out quickly. The last three times have been awful. I have requested no cheese on my burger three times and got cheese all three times. I can not eat cheese. The first two times, I didn't look I til we were back in the highway and headed to our destination, leaving me with no meal. Third time, I checked before leaving and again, had cheese. Also was missing a side item. I went in to ask for the correct items and felt like my request annoyed the gal at the counter. Would give zero stars if I could. I ordered a sausage biscuit and 2 bacon egg and cheese biscuits for take out. When we opened the bag (after we were back in the highway) we realized we had been given 3 biscuits that were so overcooked they were brown and charred. We just spent $10 for inedible food. Guy who rang me up was super rude and not at all friendly. I felt uncomfortable ordering. His name was Dan. I attempted to write a review as requested on my receipt but it could not find the store. I usually get OK service but tonight was bad. He didn't even ask if I wanted to upgrade, which I would've definitely done as I haven't eaten all day but I felt like it would've been a burden on these people as they did not seem to want to sell any other sizes. He just pushed the small cup toward me as soon as I said I wanted the meal. So everything was small. The place was dirty too. The soda bar was nasty and no one was cleaning anything. Food is burnt also and chicken was rubbery. I worked fast food as a manager before. This chicken is definitely old. I'll just go to the Dunkin Donuts right next to them next time instead. They're nice there and want to up size. I've never had an issue at Dunkin. (I'm a truck driver and this is on my way home. I stop here weekly to eat or spend the night) read more

If you're going to visit this Hardee's, you can't be the type to save money. I ordered a burger and was charged over $1 the advertised price. Upon questioning the problem, I found out the lady charged me for a large when I never even specified a size and then was unable to be refunded the correct amount because she did not know how to count. The burger was okay but fries were cold. Nothing more can be said about the food quality. read more

Typical truck-stop fast food experience at this Hardee's at the Towanda Service Center on the Kansas Turnpike. The taste of the food is good Hardee's burgers with fresh and large pieces of lettuce, onion and tomato. Service varies from day to day - sometimes very friendly, sometimes not so much. The dining room is not spotlessly clean. We usually arrive mid-afternoon and can find a fairly clean table. Your order is brought to the table if you are dining at the travel center. The dining room is shared by both the Hardee's and a Duncan Donuts. The chocolate malts are freshly made by hand so they take a few minutes to make, but they are a little on the over-priced side for the size. Be sure to emphasize "malt" or you get a milk shake. They won't ask if you want whipped cream on it, I recommend that you tell them to leave off the whipped cream because it doesn't add anything to the malt. I know that someone early reviewed and said that the milk shake was runny, but my malt was thick. read more
