So my wife and I bought a house and decided to upgrade the floors and paint the whole interior before moving in. We installed 24x24 glazed porcelain tiles downstairs and 6x24 wood look porcelain upstairs. The installer did a great job installing the tile but did a horrible job cleaning up the grout. When my wife and I were told we were able to finally move in we started by cleaning the floors. Once we were done we realized that the floors still looked dirty and hazy and some spots even had some ugly splash marks that would not come off. The wood look tile was a lot worse than the glazed tiles. I asked the installer about it and he pretty much accused me of cleaning with something too harsh. That was total B.S. Because we used a soft cleaner he actually recommended (fabuloso) plus we could tell the hazy parts were like a residue from the grout. We then tried cleaning with warm water and vinegar since that's what other people online recommended. When that didn't work we bought our own acid grout remover called Star Clean from Home Depot. Let me tell you that to apply this is a nightmare. My wife and I were on our hands and knees scrubbing with non scratch pads for hours just to clean a small section. After 2 days we realized we weren't making enough of a difference and we just didn't have anymore time or energy to continue scrubbing. Exhausted and desperate I googled for a tile cleaner and found Hard Surface Masters through Yelp. The reviews were great so I called the number. Glen answered the phone and gave me a very attractive quote over the phone. He pretty much diagnosed the issue over the phone and scheduled an appointment to come see the house with me for the next morning. When he saw it he right away said that the problem was a grout haze caused by the installer not removing the grout properly. Since the grout on the wood look tile was set first more than 10 days had passed and the grout had "cured" so Glen told us it would be tough but that he handled these situations on a daily basis. After walking the house with me he said he could start cleaning it up immediately. I said of course and he spent the next 8 hours making pass after pass with his equipment. After 8 hours he said that he needed to come back the next day because the chemicals have no effect after a certain amount of runs. The next day he redid all the wood look tile again and then finished the rest of the floors. He then told me he'd like to come back one more time since the splash marks were proving to be extremely difficult. I said it was fine. When he came in that 3rd day I had been called In to work and was not able to be at the house to meet him so I gave him my garage code so that he could enter on his own. When I got home Glen was gone but had left the floors perfect. He was able to get rid of all the grout haze, splash marks and paint residue. Even though the job turned out to be much more difficult than he had anticipated over the phone, he never complained or asked for more money. He works diligently, quietly and he wouldn't quit until it was perfect! Glen seems to be the owner/operator and he's a true professional! read more

My grout looks clean and white again, and I'm really happy with the work he did. The coupon I used was for 400 square-feet worth of grout cleaning. Since the tiled areas I wanted to have cleaned are a little larger than that, I offered to pay extra to have the additional areas cleaned.
