The hotel is within easy walking distance of Times Square, Fifth Avenue, and Central Park, making it incredibly convenient to explore some of New York City's most iconic attractions. With nearby subway access just steps away, getting around the city is seamless. Being right in the heart of Manhattan allowed me to experience the energy of the city while still having a comfortable, stylish place to return to at the end of the day. Location is great, room comfortable. Hated getting charged mandatory $160 resort fee at check in, (3 night stay) and it felt so much like a bait and switch. Staff told us to look at it like we partially paid at booking and the rest at check in, but how about just charge what the room costs at booking and not be so scammy about it? The fee included a $20 credit for food or drink each day, which certainly would entail paying additional money because when have two people ever gotten anything to eat or drink at a hotel for $20? What a grift. I will never again stay at a HRH anywhere, as I prefer to spend my money with honest companies who aren't sleazy about squeezing extra dollars from customers at the last minute, when nothing can be done about it. And don't bother defending yourself by saying it's on the website. There is no reason to hide behind that excuse when you could easily incorporate all the costs of a stay into the advertised rate so potential customers know right up front what you charge, and not have to read the fine print on your website. It's misleading--you will lose your money, it's non-refundable, and when you try to use it, you'll end up paying even more than your original stay. This hotel was refreshing! We have stayed in several hotels in NYC and it this has been by far the best experience. Every single person was so kind and helpful. Everywhere was clean and the small touches made it very pleasant. The bathroom floors are even heated! Fixtures are beautiful. Overall just well thought out and intentional. They were prompt with room service. Drinks at the restaurant were well made and the bar tender took her time making each drink flavorful and to expectations! Loved having pieces of music history all throughout the hotel. The restaurant was very cozy and the view was lovely. We loved staying here. Will definitely be back. read more

Always, ALWAYS do the opposite." -George Costanza, Seinfeld da Scene: In NYC for 10 days... spending 6 nights in mid-town Manhattan and the last four in Brooklyn. 1st time at the Hard Rock as we're doing more stuff close by this trip; catching Sunset Blvd, a Knicks game at MSG, and lots of eateries. da Setup: People say not to bother driving in the city, a true local boy from Oahu and current Californian, I LIKE MY CAR. I like the options, freedom and safety it affords us, especially when traveling. Rented a mid-size crossover and headed to 48th and 7th ave. and pre-arranged parking at a non-valet lot over on 47th, (separate review), just 5 min walk away. Had to contact the front desk to verify we had the right room as we reserved 2 queens but the Unity site had us in a King... don't like that uncertainty, I like to expect smooth sailing and do what I can beforehand; fingers crossed. da Scene: Upon arrival you drive up to the valet, and can get help with the bags... do that for check in and walk in, unfettered. Walkup the spiral staircase and take it in, stunning open space surrounding the Sessions area leading to the Front Desk. TIP the valet guys when they take your bags AND when they bring them to the room PLEASE... they work in the busiest environment in the US! da Stay: Staff is professional & available, building is secure (24 hrs.), public spaces are beautiful and up to Hard Rock standards. Location is right in the THICK of the energy & action. It's a non-stop roller coaster at all times. ONE THING would be the parking/valet situation... $85 a night and NO in/out, that's $500 and I can't use the car? NO WAY man... I had to get in touch with one of the lots nearby for a discounted monthly rate (so you get in/out privileges). da Room: We scored a high floor, the view was nice. Beautifully appointed, beds were comfy. Not generally a fan of in-room coffee, it was actually a nice one and had several espresso during the stay. Great shower, except water did run out on to the floor, so be careful. If there was a flaw, it's the attention to detail in the room. The fancy lighting controlled all lights (dim, on and off, you can't just have one light on (like in bed). Storage is tight for a multiple bed room where you expect 3-4 people w/ luggage to be staying. We got maybe 1/3 each into the closet and 2 small drawers; the rest stayed in the luggage with only one luggage rack, no where to store 'em While beautiful, it sacrifices function for form. Plenty of outlets (some USB), but the outlets are all loose, plugs would not stay IN. da Dining: Sessions is the 1st one you get to and we sat at the bar both times once for just drinks, but ate the 2nd time... pretty damn good, a real Cesar salad w/ anchovies, great bar fries and burger. Standout is the RT60 Rooftop Bar, great views, vibes, food & drink. Make reservations ahead of time for sunset views... no kiddos after 5pm, turns into a club-like atmosphere late afternoon, then DJ's take over when the sun goes down. da Service: Top notch, from Valets, to Front Desk, to Security, to housekeeping and Food & Bev. shout out to Antonio and Steven at the Sessions bar... great drinks and entertaining! While we don't spend a lot of time in mid-town generally, if we do in the future, we'd consider the Hard Rock again. read more

Another wonderful week at this Hotel. I learned my boss loves this hotel, which is why we keep coming back, and I'm so glad. I requested the same style room I had last time so no update photos necessary.... It looks identical :). This time, instead of the rooftop bar/restaurant, our company hosted us for dinner at The Venue, which is a club-like setting; however, it was set up with large round tables to accommodate our dinner. It is a beautiful "venue," the food was delicious, and the servers were excellent. I love that, when I work out of my room, I can push a button and housekeeping will not disturb me (no need for those doorknob "Do Not Disturb" signs. I also love that the staff sends me a text to check on me, and when I request more coffee and cups, someone brought it right up. Thanks for another great stay! This is my second time visiting this location as it is located right in the middle of Time Square. It's conveniently located by some of your favorite places, such as, the M&M's World, Juniors Restaurant, Carmine's Italian Restaurant, Hard Rock Cafe, etc. Many attractions located in Time Square are walking distance from the Hotel. I was so pleasantly surprised by my stay here! Normally when I'm in NYC, I try to avoid Times Square at all costs. But when I work trip came up during a time when hotel prices were surging, I had to look outside of the areas I regularly start to get a better deal. In the past, any hotel in Times Square I had stayed in the rooms were small and the hotels felt a lil shady and run down. But I figured if the motels were the same price as the Hard Rock, I'd be better off at the Hard Rock. Turns out this is actually a beautiful hotel. For some reason, I thought it would be corny but it really wasn't at all. It was clean and comfortable. The rooms was more spacious than expected and all of the staff working were so nice and professional. I even checked out the rooftop bar just for a look, and it wasn't too crowded but had a really nice view. While it's unlikely that I'll intentionally book in Times Square again any time soon, I can definitely say this would be my first choice and that overall I was impressed with my quality of stay! read more

We paid through it by points and wish we could've used more of the amenities. We had $20 daily voucher-- one night the rooftop bar was closed for a private event and we were not informed. We came back to our room early wanting to go to the bar and couldn't. Room service menu was not great and over priced. For the city that never sleeps, room service ending at 11pm was a big bummer. read more

We were in between a rock and a hard place when Delta unexpectedly cancelled our flight last minute due to weather. We were originally scheduled to stay across the street at Hampton Inn Timesquare. Since we able to fly in last minute to New Jersey, we were unable to call Hampton to let them know and arrived at 1:30am. They had given our room away and didn't have a care in the world. We walked across the street to Hard Rock and the customer service level was a 360. We were greeted with compassion, empathy, respect and smiles. The man at the counter Justin made our issue his own. He got us a last minute accommodation and at a reasonable rate. It was much higher than Hampton but well worth it. I would highly recommend this hotel and although in the past I never thought about Hard Rock Hotels (Maybe because I thought they were out of my price range), I will make it my mission moving forward to support this brand. I don't care what the price is. Thank you soooooo much Hard Rock NYC for your true hospitality, professionalism and overall experience. 10 stars!! This review is for the venue attached to the hotel (and the restaurant "Settings"). I visited the Hard Rock for the Gilbert Gottfried Record Drop/benefit for Myotonic Dystrophy type II research at the University of Rochester. The venue itself is very cool, lots of seating options. "Settings" itself is a typical hotel restaurant with Hard Rock touches. Our dinner was fairly decent, though... my sister loved her salmon, and insisted I have a bite. While I'm not a salmon person, I found it very buttery & rich (in a good way). I ordered the wedge salad with grilled salad. The salad was watery, very skimpy on dressing and adorned with slices of mortadella. The shrimp was not grilled and looked like it had been around for a bit. I had one bite and sent it back! All in all, despite the meh salad and "grilled" shrimp, we felt that the dinner was fairly reasonably priced for the area. The event was superb, and the hotel staff outdid itself and service at the bar was brisk! read more

I had a very nice stay at the Hard Rock hotel last month. Decided to do a last minute getaway and this hotel is right in the heart of the city. Easy to get to. I didn't use any parking at the hotel but a nearby garage which was "reasonable" for NYC. Front desk service was quick and efficient. The room was a little bit more spacious than typical but it is the city so you won't have too much. The bed was super comfy and there was a little sitting area. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful. Loved the gold trim and the rain shower head. We ordered room service for dinner and breakfast and both were delicious. Overall, would definitely recommend if staying in the city. We stayed here a few weeks ago for 5 nights and it was in a great location right on Time Square, clean, friendly staff, nice room although a bit on the small side so definitely not for a longer stay, comfortable bed, and the best shower I've had in ages! I absolutely loved that shower with its adjustable head that created a fluffy stream that was so relaxing after all the walking we did. When we went down for breakfast on our first day, we were shocked at how small the orange juice was and how expensive it was! I had avocado on toast, which tasted odd so ended up having just the orange juice, my partner had scrambled egg on toast and said it was just ok. The toast was more like warm bread, so as we both didn't like what we had, we didn't eat here again. I'd recommend eating anywhere else actually as it's way too expensive for what you get. UT47 down the road was delicious so went there instead. The room was nicely decorated and clean. There was a sliding door to separate the bedroom which was great in reducing noise from the other guests. Nice touch Overall the stay was good, and the staff were all lovely. This hotel is just amazing. We had the best service during our whole stay from the front desk to the bar tenders and housekeeping. If you want star service stop by the bar with Neilyn and Antonio at the Secessions Bar. We loved them and they definitely make the best cocktails. After our flight getting canceled last minute, they also assisted us with another room super easy and stress free after having a canceled flight when all other hotels were sold out. Upon arrival the front desk asked if we wanted to stay in for an early "$20" fee check in, and we agreed to accept it since the price was reasonable. But after we went in the room I saw a huge amount of money was withdrawn out of my bank approximately $400. With that being said my friend and I went down and spoke to the same front desk and he mentioned that "I will be receiving the money back after check out" which we were ok with. Two days later after checking out and getting our bill, we realized that they charged "$200" for really check in not "$20". I spoke back to the manager and they nothing about it ! The worst experience by far !!! Never coming back to this place and please avoid it at all cost ! read more

Pros: 1. Location- very central to everything you'd want to see and do. 2. Cleanliness- very clean rooms, halls, elevators 3. Friendliness- all staff was pleasant and friendly including valet, check in, restaurant & rooftop bar 4. There is valet parking, although upon arrival we were told they would be outside waiting but were not. We had no where to pull up as there were trucks there and no valet in sight. Had to go inside to ask someone for help. On the way out it was much more seamless as we only waited a few minutes for our car and they pulled it right up front for us. Cons: 1. TINY room. Probably the smallest room I've ever stayed in. Loud doors that you hear throughout the night. Not much closet space if you have more than a few things you want hung up. Tiny drawer. 2. The heat was very loud & even when I shut it off it kept turning back on so you don't have full control over it. 3. WORST pillows I've ever had at a hotel. Flat and lifeless and useless. My neck is hurting after a 3 night stay here. For the price of this place I would expect a better experience. We both agreed it was just "ok" and probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

Everyone at this hotel is ungodly rude. I despise this hotel first of all have you ever been on a cruise ship? That's basically what the room is like for 500+ dollars a night. When you walk in the sink is just right there in the open you can basically touch the toilet from your bedroom. A bed fits in the room that's it-- that would all be fine if the staff was polite, but they are horrible. Every time I call them. It's a nightmare. They are so rude. I really cannot get over it. Even the managers are rude. Also, they close to the coffee shop so you cannot get good coffee in the morning and the restaurant food is inedible. read more
