My travel friends and I always try to visit every Hard Rock if the place we're in has one, mostly just for the music memorabilia but also for the drinks or food sometimes. In Gothenburg, it was just a single friend and I visiting the Hard Rock, and it wasn't a meal time unfortunately, so we actually just stopped in to take some pics of the pieces, if the staff would allow us to. They said we were totally fine to do that, but we felt we did need to buy something for their troubles, so we did grab a drink. Their beer options were great and were served very crisp and cold, so we enjoyed our drinks before exploring a bit. The collectibles they had were excellent and very well curated. Guitars from some rock icons like Tom Petty and Joe Walsh, clothing from a few stars like Elton John, John Lennon, and Madonna and even gold records from a few artists like Van Halen and Bruce Springsteen. The interior of this Hard Rock was actually really cool too, with red booths, very airy and light filled with glass walls on the ground floor by the bar, and a whole area of shuffleboards. With helpful staff, great music memorabilia (that I didn't even scratch the surface of in this review), and delicious drink options, I think this Hard Rock is a great addition to a little tour of their locations or just a one time stop in! read more

Let's get things straight, I never come for the food. I'm only here to buy a collector pin, shot glasses, patch, and sometimes a city t shirt. I stopped eating at HRC because every time I did eat at one I was disappointed with the food. The food might be awesome to some people but not to me. Hard Rock is Hard Rock - you know what you get. I enjoy their burgers and their ribs! The ribs just melt in your mouth! And I love it that you can get all of your favorite American drinks here - Hurricane, Margarita, Rum Runner...you name it! I do not like getting seating down stairs when the cool interiors are upstairs. I also do not like that even if you have dined, you still meed to pay to get in to the night club. Friday and Saturday night requires extra charging to get upstairs - so go here a week night. Hard Rock in Gothenburg is four floors of music! And broadcasted sports. I'll admit it, I look for familiar places when I travel. I am not too open about stepping out of my comfort zone, so Hard Rock is a familiar face in an otherwise unfamiliar crowd when in new cities. None of them have ever failed me the way this one has. We only went here for drinks on a Friday night, but Hard Rock's bartenders are supposed to know what they are doing. The bartenders at this Hard Rock looked like nerdy teenagers in high school and not one of them knew what an Appletini was. What?!?! Are you serious? Okay, a Midori Sour? Nope, not that either. My friends and I had to tell these "bartenders" how to mix drinks. For a city that prides themselves in bars and food, Hard Rock sticks out like sore thumb. No wonder this place was deserted on a Friday night. The doormen asked how old we were. We tried to hand them our IDs. "I asked how old you were, not for your ID", whined one of them. I am sure they are serving drinks to youngens here because no one else who knows better would step a foot in this place. Oh and there is a sek 60 cover charge. After throwing that money down the toilet, they also force you to check your coat for sek 20. I tried to not check and was chased by the whining doorboy who told me I would not be welcome there if I didn't give up my coat. Seriously? Absolutely horrible! Ordered fajitas, they were completely unseasoned...not even salt and peppered. Cold tortillas and vegetables were severely undercooked. Asked for hot sauce to help flavor from different waitress as ours never returned and was brought buffalo sauce...gross! Waitress did not bring correct drinks in souvenir glasses yet charged us for them anyway! She stood around at bar and gossiped with coworkers and never returned to ask if we needed additional drinks. She was catty and rude! Horrible food, horrible service, horrible memories of my afternoon in Gothenburg. Don't waste your time or money here when there are so many other wonderful restaurants that give exceptional service. This place is a tourist scam. They treat out of towners with distain. After much research I noticed a pattern of overcharging, outright refusal to remove bad food from bill and rude service, particularly if you are foreign. Beware! read more

If you go to the buffet for a second time, then you will point by a guard yelled, It's not about food, it's just a snack. An Afterwork where you can take only one time (!) food, is not After Work. Especially since me and my companion had not fully stacked the dishes or something like that. Anyway: A restaurant where you will be monitored by security guards? :-( The food itself is ok: altough there where only chicken wings and pasta, some raw vegetables. But the atmosphere itself is uncomfortable and unfriendly, as After-Work-Customer you are not allowed tot sit outside in the sun, but must sit on bad places at the edge. The staff smiles although much (it's a very professional chain), but you are not treated very courteously. You feel that the Hard Rock Cafe wants to favor the local custom of the After Work: But actually the idea of giving the customer something a little cheaper annoys them. They just want a very fine customers with a lot of money. Mainly tourists. There are a lot of nicer, more open and friendly places (with younger and better locking people also ;-), like Kings Head. read more
