The location gives it the 3 stars and the food has always been pretty good. What is also consistent…read moreis that there is always some problem with the service, unfortunately because the view is fantastic in any weather or time of day. When you walk up to the hotel, it isn't remarkable, so people find their way here because they happen to be a hotel guest, read about it in a tourist guide, or are brought there by a local. We lived in the neighborhood for years, so it was our alternative to the Gothia Towers on the other side of town when we wanted a nice place to have a fancy cocktail and enjoy the view of the city, albeit the view to the west along the water, not the view of the city from the north. They have a fancy cocktail menu, so it is always interesting to go and see what they have, an adult candy store in a way. I had the peanut butter whiskey with cream cocktail with chocolate...it was intriguing and had a very unusual taste...but since I like vodka, PB and chocolate, it couldn't be too bad no matter what. They have an ipad menu, but you cant order from the ipad, which felt odd. When the drinks came, 2 of the 3 orders were wrong. Wrong beer, wrong cocktail, I got mine...but the problem was, I underestimated how long it would take to redo, it was very empty...only half the bar seatings were taken and the restaurant had only 4 diners in the whole room, with 2 guys at the bar...so I sipped and sipped and sipped and by the time the beer and new cocktail arrived for my husband and friend, I was halfway through my cocktail. I should say in my defense I felt like I needed to drink it because the foam was dissipating by the moment and I felt like I needed to drink it while it looked like it did when it was delivered to me. In truth, by the time finished it, the last part of the cocktail didn't look so appetizing...remember it was peanut butter, chocolate and cream with vodka, so it was a brown puddle at the bottom of my martini glass. When we were ready to leave, the bill was wrong. I don't know why, but this seems to happen often here...you place an order and then at least one part is not right. You could blame the server but over years and different staff? Could it be part of the training? I am not sure, but maybe it isn't busy enough? It has never been full, except for once, when I went with work and we filled the dining room and of course the bar before and after dinner. My recommendation? Order a cider or beer in a bottle that you can point to, or order a cocktail from the fancy menu and be prepared to linger and not care and just enjoy the view and then you will enjoy the experience.
