Just arrived into Gothenburg for the World's largest half marathon and I needed to find a place to eat. We walked in to The Barn and found a gem of a spot. We first grabbed a couple beers and I ordered a Biffen and my American Butger palate was not disappointed. What a great burger, done well and seasoned to perfection. The Barn has been recognized with the White award for the past 4 years so had to give it a try. I visited on a Friday night around 9:30. It was busy so I sat at the bar. Bartender recommended the Baperol Spritz as an aperitif. Bourbon, BlackBerry liqueur and mixers and It was pretty good. For appetizers, the recommendations were the Grilled Oysters & Sivans deep fried cheese (3 per order). Both were excellent! Cheese was infused with a basil mixture that took it over the top. I ordered the Pradone burger with bacon add-on. I had a good conversation about how the burgers are cooked with the Bartender-Medium (pink middle). I said that I've had many times where it comes out overcooked but he assured me that it would be ok so no need to go to medium rare (with the goal of getting medium). There was a bit of time (close to 1/2 hour) for the burger to come out. Although I wasn't in a hurry, recommend ordering apps, main all together when busy. The burger arrived and looked fantastic! Perfect meat to bun ratio, tasty pickles and bacon. I wish I could tell you it was cooked a perfect medium but not so. The Bartender took a look and confirmed it was medium well. He went and informed the chef and returned with an apology and offer to make another burger. It was getting late so I declined with appreciation. The burger was tasty although I'm sure it would have been much better at medium. Overall, great vibe, with a rustic feel. Burger - holy cow (ha ha ha) - this is hands down one of the best burgers I've had anywhere! It was full of flavor and juicy and had all the right fixings to make it scrumptious. I had the burger with bacon, and added the recommended cheese (do it & you won't regret it). Sweet potato fries - now I know I said it was one of the best burgers, but the sweet potato fries were probably the best I've had (not ONE of the best... THE best). The little fixings on top, dipped in some truffle aioli... wooo an angel was thrown in the mix. Fried pickles - unique mix on an American classic. They used whole tiny pickles, instead of the chopped burger style pickles. Approve. Fried cheese - a few fried cheese balls over some spicy sauce. These were a delicious option as a starter. Awesome bartender, Oscar, at the bar connected to the restaurant. Honestly, everyone was friendly and it's a very busy place, but worth the wait!! read more

You should order burgers if you visit this place. We ordered the entrecôte and had high hopes but got really disappointed. Firstly the food arrived late and even though the presentation was really good, the food tasted rather bland and watery due to huge amount of melted butter. We ordered the home made chips as dessert but half of it was burnt. Our experience was only worth 2 stars but I'll give it a 3 star rating since I know that they serve good burgers. Excellent dinner restaurant in gothenburg! We came on a rainy Saturday night, and they had a wait time of about 30 minutes. Which was no problem at all because there is an attached Barn Bar right next door that you can go wait at, and when your table is ready they come and get you. The bar at the barn was awesome, it's got a great hipster ambiance, extensive drink menu, and some snacks in case you're hungry, which we were. We ordered the beer sausage to snack on, while I ordered a cocktail and my boyfriend ordered one of their beers. The cocktail was done really nicely, I even asked the bartender to make it differently without a few ingredients, and he happily did so. Then about 30 minutes later the hostess came by, took our drinks over to our table and we walked over to the Barn restaurant to be seated upstairs at a "bar like" seating. They have english menus available if you ask! The inside is super charming and has got a homey and cozy feeling. I ordered the "bonnen" burger and my sambo ordered the svinet. I ordered mine without the bun and they made this cute burger like platter. It was incredibly delicious, filling, and indulgent, as was the svinet burger - which I highly recommend. The Bonnen was also not too spicy but it's got some heat. We also ordered the cheese balls to share, and I could have eaten about 30 of those, the cheese was perfectly melted and flavorful. The menu isn't super diverse but they focus on what they're good at and it shows. All of our waiters/hostess/bartenders were really nice and friendly - the service was as good as the very good food! Overall definitely a new favorite, whether you just want drinks or a nice dinner, this is a great option. read more

This was such a yummy dinner! I had a great glass of Pinot, good long pour! We started with the fried chicken and cheese balls. I could have eaten 2 more plates of chicken! The cheese balls were tasty, stuck in some sauce they didn't even need! My daughter and I ordered our hamburgers with no bun, and they make a great plate of it! So flavorful! My husband ordered his burger with a bun and the bacon and mushrooms were an added treat. Dessert was the brownie and apple thing. What a great spot in Gothenburg, I am so happy my friends and I decided to wait one hour at the bar next door for a table at The Barn! I am not a local from Gothenburg so I can't tell you anything about the location or neighborhood, but whether you are a local or a visitor you should definitely check this place out. The Barn is young, vibrant and just a fun place to go out for dinner. The interior is rustic and everything just fits perfectly together. The menu, the cups and plates, the chairs, the walls, everything! Even the bathroom just feels like a perfect fit for the restaurant. I absolutely love the menu. It has something for everyone. My favorite part is that your burger don't automatically come with fries, (I am not a fan of regular fries), but you can chose your own sides, like sweet potato fries, which at The Barn is absolutely AMAZING! The burgers are cooked to perfection (medium). If you want your burger cooked differently just make sure to tell your waiter while ordering and they will cook it to your liking. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation beforehand, because it do get crowded especially during the weekend! read more

My husband found this place on google and after reading the reviews we decided to check it out. As soon as we walked in we knew we'd like the place. Cozy ambiance, candle lights, filament bulbs, natural wood furnishings. The craft beer menu was small, but had a decent selection. My husband had an IPA and I ordered a cider. The server came over with 2 ciders. The one I ordered and another I had inquired about. They were bottled so he let me try both and let me keep the one I liked. I ended up choosing the one I had passed on so I was very appreciative of this. For dinner we both had the Prästen burger and an order of the fried cheese balls. My husband said it was one of the best burgers he'd ever had and I was with him. What really made it for me was the bun. It almost tasted like an everything bagel with the softness of a brioche bun. All around we loved our meal, friendly service, and highly recommend The Barn! read more

Apparently Yelp isn't utilized much here in Sweden's second largest city, so finding a well reviewed restaurant is a challenge. The Barn was close to the hotel and was the only venue crowded on a Saturday, a good sign. We didn't have a reservation, but the host took the time to figure out how to squeeze us in. He asked if an hour twenty would be sufficient, before he'd have to seat the next party. Of course it was! And we appreciated being taken care of. Cocktail culture is alive and well here, done expertly there is something for everyone. I finished with a bourbon from a well chosen list, so no shortage of beverages from beer to whatever... The bar had an active and friendly scene with well thought out music at a level that supported conversation. With two floors, whether a large group or small, there's an appropriate table. Table service was friendly, but not attentive enough, we waited for drinks and for empty plates to be picked up. As they are known for burgers, we stuck with theme and weren't disappointed. They are now on my list of best cheeseburger joints. Juicy, satisfying and perfectly cooked. On a brioche, not my favorite as they are normally dry, not so here! Our accompaniments were house made chips, fries and onion rings, perfect. The only criticism is portion size, a little small for this type of menu. The service on the other hand was so so. We seamed to have a new waiter for every time we where approached at the table and drink orders took quite some time.
