We heard very negative things about Harbor View after new ownership took over. Decided to visit for a drink and make our own minds up because we heard it was veteran owned. When the male owner introduced himself, he asked where we were from and we told him we lived in Phillips. He gave us an odd look and asked us why he'd never seen us in there before. Long story short, the owner's wife or girlfriend? was eavesdropping on a conversation we were having with a guy we'd just met at the bar, misheard the conversation and became upset. We tried to explain that she'd misheard what was said but it still resulted in my entire group (including my 75 year old father and 65 year old Aunt) getting kicked out before we even finished our first (very weak) drinks. Male owner was apologetic for his wife/girlfriend's actions, and gave us a CBD oil business card on our way out the door. Will not be back. read more

The food was good, even if the menu was fairly limited. There's lots of fish on the menu, which makes sense but I don't like fish, so I'm glad there were some burgers and stuff available as well. We ordered the bacon and beer curds and they were great. My order was the Butch Burger, and it was delicious. I am always on the fence about a burger with peanut butter, but my curiosity about the apple maple bacon jam outweighed my apprehension about the peanut butter. It was a good call and I was really pleased with it. On this particular burger, there wasn't a ton of peanut butter so that wasn't overpowering. The bacon jam was yummy and a great compliment to the burger. And I asked for it well done, and it was perfectly well done, which is pretty often not the case and I appreciated that they cooked it right the first time. (I also asked for the bacon well done so it wasn't too fatty and that was cooked pretty well too.) The onion rings were amongst the best I've ever had. The view really is beautiful if one sits outside; we opted for inside on this day. Service was ok; though the server was friendly she wasn't the most attentive and it may have been nice to get a little help with the high chair instead of the server just pointing me to it to get it whilst I was holding a baby. Harbor view restaurant is under new ownership and the owner, Joe, is an aviation enthusiast as well as a retired military person. Food and service were very good. I had a delicious build-your-own burger that was cooked perfectly to my request. Fries were that wonderful blend of crispy on the outside and soft inside. Tasty as well. Food is good and, for private pilots, it's about a 2 min walk from the ramp at the airport. It's too bad they don't have a pedestrian crosswalk from the airport. Perhaps the town of Phillips or Price County could add some signage to make the crossing safer. read more

My husband and I went to Harbor View where we listened to a good band, enjoyed our food and loved the beautiful views from the deck. The bartenders and wait staff were efficient and very personable. We enjoyed the Tiki bar out on the deck and had great service again from a very fun bartender. There was soft lighting all around the deck at night which gave it a cool ambiance. The owners are friendly and awesome! We support local businesses and this place has always been a favorite of ours. read more

We stopped here today for lunch and the food and service was above our expectations. The atmosphere is nice as well. We ordered the steakhouse burger, one of the best we've ever had. The chef, Anthony and Spencer cooked it exactly how we ordered it, med rare. Lindsey, the general manager made me one of my favorite cocktails, again, made to perfection. If you are looking for a refreshing summer drink it is the rum haven with pineapple muddled with jalapeños. The owners were both there working up front as well. They are both very friendly. I'm looking forward to the next time we are in town, we will be back and highly recommend. You will not be disappointed. read more

I will say our visit this time was better than my last review 8 years ago. We sat inside and they seemed to be fully staffed. Our waitress was really good and we had 5 kids and 4 adults. The kids had a standard chicken tenders, cheese curds and fries meal. The curds and fries were really good. We wanted to give Harbor View another chance after having a truly bad experience a few weeks ago. Sadly, today's experience was no better. The bar area was pretty busy but the dining area was dead. We should have known when we had problems with our drink order that it wasn't going to be any better than last time. After we received our drink order we waited for someone to take our food order, after 15 minutes of waiting and watching two other groups of people leave we decided to leave. The owner/manager came over as we were leaving. We let him know why we were leaving at that we left $ on the table for the drinks. No apology from him on the situation at all. It looks like they're short staffed and it seems like they're very disorganized. Maybe focus on the bar side of things until everything else gets figured out? The place has a lot of good potential. The food is decent however,we waited an hour and 45 minutes for our food. We asked for a manager and waited 20 minutes for her. The girl we asked to see the manager from, asked why? We explained we have been waiting a long time fir our food which at that time, she git rude and stomped away saying "I'm a little kid and can't deal with you". After 20 minutes,the manager came over and was immediately rude and snippy and said she will talk to someone and come back,which never happened. Some friends of mine along with my wife and 4 year old stopped by this afternoon for a late lunch. When we walked in we were greeted at the bar and told we could seat ourselves. Their menu consists of standard fare, burgers, chicken sandwiches, wraps and fried food. Their lunch menu though is rather limited with most of the items not available until after 4pm. Our table ordered a fillet sandwich, Cuban sandwich, mushroom Swiss burger, bacon cheeseburger, popcorn chicken and I ordered the double Captain's Burger. We were asked what temperature we wanted our burgers, with all of us requesting medium. The pricing seemed ok at first, $7.99 for a burger. But the catch is it's another $2.00 for fries. Turning things from ok to pricey for the area. When we got our burgers all of them were well done. As a plus they were served on chibatta rolls. Flavor was ok, but nothing out if this world. They were a little dry due to over cooking. My daughter's chicken was disgusting. It was mainly breading and was way over cooked. You could also tell that the fryer oil needed to be changed. It was a battle to get her to eat them and frankly I don't blame her. We ordered them from the kids menu and they were still $7.99 (+$2.00 for fries). Our service was so so and our combined bill was over $100.00!!!!! Plus there is an added $2.00 charge for using a credit card! The husband and wife team are an uptight couple that belong like two peas in a pod. The hostess (wife) chooses not to respond in a professional manner to typical questions directed at a service worker in this public facing role as hostess. The husband is pushy. Both, taken together can display cool and unemotional facial expressions if they feel wronged. Wait staff clearly take their lead and inspiration from the husband and wife owner duo. Patrons have the honor of placing feet inside such a glorious establishment and will be served in a manner best suited to the wait staff who will deliver exasperated responses...this again in response to typical questions directed at a service worker in this public facing role as waitress. If you enjoy being made felt like a Yahoo (capital y) for speaking before you are spoken to, then by all means go support an ownership team whose insecurities manifest its presence in the manner with which they greet and address the public. This place is on its way downhill. We have gone here several times over the past 10 years or so. Usually it is very good, never great, but a good solid place to eat. The food was ok but not on the level it used to be. The atmosphere was terrible and some staff members didnt help improve that. Our waitress and one other were great, friendly and helpful. The problem was with the bartender, a kitchen worker named Craig and Craig's friend at the bar. The friend was sitting at the bar talking very loudly and using the f word regularly. The bartender thought he was just hilarious and didn't discourage his behavior. Then the bartender and her friend took a smoke break right outside the door to the deck which happened to be right outside our window. Kind of distracting and unprofessional, especially when the smoke smell traveled in. Then Craig's shift ended and he made his way to the bar to hang out with his friend, that's how I got his name, his friend greeted him. They laughed and joked it up while Craig kept yelling things back into the kitchen. Since our table was the closest to the bar area we got a front row seat to the idiot show. They need to separate the dining room more from the bar so loud idiots don't take away from the diners experience. They should also look into setting up a blower system over the door to help keep the bugs outside. It was annoying having to keep swatting flies and gnats away from our food. read more

Bartender always have some friend or worker sitting at the bar talking and distracting him. Today's stop: extremely slow service with only one other table with two people at high noon. The chicken and fries were delicious. Lettuce salad and cole slaw were awful at best. Both very warm like they had been sitting out. Probably last time we bother. Always something off here. The decor is tired and grimy. Place feels run down and not exactly clean. Tables were sticky and the menus were grossly dirty. I've had plenty of not great experiences here, but had a shockingly unpleasant time this weekend. My family and I were having a difficult weekend visiting home and were looking for a little break. We called ahead because we had a large group. They set up nicely for us, but the server was rude from the start acting like we were a burden to her and was angry at during her job. Instantly she gave us numbers for the checks instead of maybe using our names? Then continued to yell the numbers at us throughout the lunch. Ordered shripwreck bloodys and were very disappointed. Ordered food and asked for napkins right away when we ordered. It took about 40 minutes to get our fried appetizers and nachos with stale chips. We were told that we had the last of the plates so keep them for the kids pizza even though we saw a stack of dirty plates on the table next to us. We've seen the place way more busy than, and we were there on a Sunday afternoon. Never received our napkins with appetizers, so we asked again and the waitress was rude and said, oh I was bringing them with the pizza. I guess we were meant to wipe our hands on our pants until then. Our food came out and we thought we received the wrong pizza for the kids when we ordered the taco pizza, so we brought it to the waitress' attention and she informed us it was indeed the taco pizza. WE GREW UP IN PHILLIPS! I wish I would have taken a picture of this pathetic excuse for a taco pizza. She informed us we were supposed to ask for lettuce if we wanted it. Were we supposed to ask for the rest of the toppings for the pizza as well? Olives, tomatoes, green onions, meat (stated on the menu). One of the salmons was raw. We asked for ketchup and she looked annoyed once again and grabbed one from another table without wiping it down. Makes me wonder what else they are doing that is unsanitary especially after just reopening during a pandemic. We did not complain about the food which is not the waitress' fault, and we are not people who want to complain, but she clearly didn't care regardless. As we were leaving, I asked if this was their new taco pizza, sour cream and salsa for sauce and cheese. She said, well this is how we serve it here. I said well I'm from here and this is not how you've served the taco pizza for the last 20 or so years. She said she hasn't served it often then said she never served it before... I worked with her about 10 years ago at this restaurant, so I'm pretty sure she has served a taco pizza a time or 2. She asked what it was missing and I said all it has is sauce and cheese. The kids didn't like it at all, even 2 hungry teenage boys couldn't eat it. She walks over to the pizza and goes, "there's meat on it." Why are you literally lying to the customer and fighting with me? Pure laziness and disrespect. We didn't want to make a scene, which is why I only asked if the pizza was now changed because why would we ever order it again if this is what we should be expecting? And she caused a scene. Then as I was walking through she was pointing at us and saying things to the other waitress as we were walking out. My dad never liked the restaurant that much, but he loved bringing us on the boat and treating us to lunch. We were home in Phillips to bury our him and thought it would be nice to come and enjoy a lunch there, but we were treated awfully from the start, and it quickly went worse as the lunch progressed. For my birthday we decided to go here. We made a reservation for eight people and asked if we can sit on the deck. When we got there they brought us out to the deck and said that we have two tables. The tables were separate so we decided because it was a birthday get together that we wanted to pull the tables together. The waitress came out screaming and yelling that we can't move the tables and was very rude. Even if it was the rule there is a better way to approach the situation. Even other people eating out there didn't understand what the issue was. That definitely ruined the mood. After ordering our drinks it took forever and it was not busy at all. When we got our food two people didn't get their food until everyone else was practically done. Definitely not a good experience and will not be coming back. I don't understand why it was such a problem about moving a table. It was not in anybody's way I could see if it was causing an issue but that wasn't it and it was not busy whatsoever. Who wants the people they invited for dinner sitting at a different table? Wow! Also the popcorn shrimp made me sick to my stomach when I got home! Very very disappointed!! read more

I guess it's fine considering the area. The food is overpriced for what you get; but I suppose there's not many options so they can get away with it. Except for the cheese curds. Holy fuck, those are NOT cheese curds. I think what they did is cut up cheesy breadsticks and deep fried the square chunks. Considering it's the dairy state, it's an embarrassment, and really disappointing. I don't even know what kind of cheese that was -- Kraft? Canned? It wasn't cheddar, that's for sure. Jury's out on whether or not that cheese even came from a cow. Seriously, all they have to do is order up some Ellsworth Cheese Curds and follow the instructions on the back of the bag. Went here on Sunday evening (8/10/14) with my parents. The weather was gorgeous, and we sat out back on the deck. The restaurant was very busy, so it took a little while for our food to come out, but the waitress kept us updated and made sure we didn't feel forgotten. While we waited, we enjoyed watching an eagle swoop across the lake several times. The food was delicious and well worth the wait. I had stuffed shrimp that were fried to crispy perfection and hash browns with a generous layer of cheese on top. My mom enjoyed her all-you-can-eat BBQ ribs, and my dad liked the ribeye steak. Waitress was very friendly and attentive despite the dinner rush. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Phillips! read more
