This inn is adorable- the room we were in was lovely, beautifully decorated and the bathroom was large and updated. our room was white with crown molding and such nice touches. we had two queen size beds and the room was large. The room itself didn't have a fridge or a coffee pot, but right outside of our room was an area with coffee, ice, refrigerator, toaster, bagels, breads, yogurt and more. The location of this Inn was super close to restaurants and the Harbor(right in front of the Harbor), Sackets Harbor village is lovely also! I would definitely stay there again. A few months ago my husband and I booked this Inn to celebrate our anniversary and went with the anniversary package. We weren't expecting an incredible experience but we certainly got one! Judy was wonderful managing our reservation and warmly greeted us when we arrived. I like the concept of boutique hotels but sometimes find they can be too cramped or stuffy, not the Harbor House Inn. It's intimate but rooms are spacious so you feel like you can breathe. The room was absolutely amazing, farmhouse chic with a splash of coastal aesthetic. The soaking tub was to die for! The bed was very comfy. All the staff were friendly. Our room had a partial view of the lake, was a welcome surprise. The hotel is right in the center of town, perfect walking location to the battlefield, shops and eateries. All we wanted was a night away from the little ones but Harbor House Inn delivered a sweet experience. Highly recommend and will definitely return. It was worth the money spent! read more

We can sum it it up in one word - PERFECT ! We ( wife & I ) spent the night of 5/25/25 here. The same hotel that we honeymooned in on 5/25/91 - 34 years ago. And this establishment hasn't lost a thing ! ! We want to give a very special "Thank You" to Kim. She made us feel nothing but Welcome after actually greeting us as we ere getting out of our car in the parking lot ! And we had no "special'' plans set up in advance. She just happened to be outside as we pulled in and she greeted us in , even offering to assist in carrying in our luggage. She showed us to our room and did a quick walk-thru to insure it's readiness. And there was even a very special surprise waiting for us upon our return from dinner that evening at the 1812 Brewery located next door. And again let me stress that we had no prior requests for any special treatment here. We are nobody rich, famous or, in any way, well known. But we recognize and appreciate PERFECT SERVICE when we receive it. 5 Stars isn't enough to rate this property. Unless we can also give 5 Stars to Kim as well. What a charming place to stay! Everyone was incredibly kind, and the room was lovely. We especially loved the big bathtub AND the shower. There were lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance, and you're right on the water. The people were the best part: they went above and beyond to try and help us get whatever we needed. Our time here will be remembered for years to come! I booked a room in 2021, for the eclipse, when this was the Onterio Hotel. The new owner cancelled past reservations to engage in price gauging. At this late date no other reservations can be found. I encourage all businesses in the area and future guests to not do business with this hotel. The new owner is giving the town a bad name and should not be in the hospitality industry. read more

Disappointing. Very. When reading the web site I believed I was booking a room at an inn on the water. No water in sight. Just parking lots. For $240. a night I expected more, much more. A closet would be nice. Perhaps a refrigerator. We're in town for a family reunion. My sister and her husband are staying at a hotel in a large suite on the water. Not sure why this place is listed as $$$, can't get much cheaper than $100 a night. Especially when they probably could charge more due to lack of competition. There are a couple reasons why we enjoyed our stay here, it's conveniently located to all of the local restaurants and is right on the water. It was generally clean but our room was in need of some TLC. Major problems included mold in the bathroom, assuming from the broken fan. Lots of rusted components, and the biggest headscratcher by not having an iron or ironing board. I had a chance to see my friends room which was a suite, and it's clear they put some money on the 3rd floor recently. Staff didn't do anything extraordinary to make us feel welcome. But for the price, I can't complain really as we really didn't need anything during our stay. read more

Great location right downtown so you can walk to any place in town. The staff super nice. The rate pretty good for the summer - We got a suite and it was in the basement.Certainly not a nice view but the room was large, the bath large . It fit our needs since is was modern and remodeled. Clean and comfortable and quiet- BUT the hallway downstairsin the basement where there are many rooms stinks with sewer- the business has been on the town to fix this problem. Pretty embarrassing but gratefully did not permiate our room. This place accepts pets...and there are lots of stairs so if you have any handicap walking take that into consideration. The morning coffee is free as well as some other breakfast bars..but the coffee is HORRID. I would stay here again as long as you knew that there was a slight concern in the basement. Sacketts Harbor is a nice stay for the day to enjoy the history. read more

This hotel was so charming!!! I loved the beautiful detail the owners put into it! The owners were so gracious and welcoming! They had so many interesting stories of the history of the place, and they had great recommendations of where to go eat etc. The place was so clean I felt so comfortable that I didn't even worry about anything. The hotel is right on the water so it's a beautiful view as well. The restaurants next to the inn are fantastic including the brew house - which initially we thought would have only pub food, but we were delight that their menu had some really great seafood and filet dishes that were to die for and great wine! I highly recommend this place!!!! read more

The reason why I contacted Harbor House in the first place was because a family friend who is well connected recommended it highly. on their website it is in plain English tha they have a 24 hour desk. So I made the reservation online. I set check in fo 9pm the following night for my daughter who is coming from Costa Rica. I spent the next day at the hospital because my mother was in ICU. my daughters flight was very late, since the website states a 24 hour desk I believed there should be little inconvenience. Mohammed answered the phone and told me the office was closed. when I stated that his website said they had a 24 hour desk, he basically called me a liar. My daughter checked in the next day Gave us a free breakfast, but I still didn't appreciate him calling me a liar and I suggested he visit his website I retired from Marriott and I was shocked that a hotel owner would respond in such a negative fashion. the reason that I am writing this review is because my daughter checked out today and when I took her to the airport she said that the suitcases were very heavy, I weighed them 46 & 48 lbs, respectively I asked her, Mohammed helped you ,right? She said no daddy, he just watched me. after returning home from the airport, I called Mahammed and asked him why he didn't help a young lady with heavy suitcases. He claimed to have back problems, I told him okay, and check his website because the same information was there, and I hung up, he called me back and blamed my daughter because she didn't ask for help!! What a idot I told him that I will told he was a gentleman but that's not true I told his guy, if I owNed a hotel and your 20 year old daughter rented 10 days with me a was struggling with heavy suitcases that I would help her and not just watch her I guess Mahammed is great at acting he exploded on me two times that is not worth a high score read more

My wife and I stayed at this Inn for a couple nights while visiting our daughter. If you plan on staying in Sackets Harbor this place is PERFECT. Coffee/sandwich shops, restaurants, bars are all within a two minute short stroll. The rooms are immaculate with huge bathrooms. Ours had a spacious walk-in shower at one end and a cast iron tub at the other end. Continental breakfast items served in the morning. Mini fridges are available on request. This room was on the 2nd floor, which is the floor of the main front entrance. The first floor is accessed from the side of the building. The 3rd floor is accessed via stairs. Extremely friendly staff, ready to help with local info and recommendation of things to see and do. Sackets Harbor is a historical site and many of the buildings and homes are over 200 years old. The Inn itself has a history so be sure to have the owners tell you about it; quite interesting. Sackets Harbor was the site for the War of 1812. A few museums in the area detail the history of the battle. There are a couple original buildings from the era still standing. All very interesting and scenic. The week we were there in Sackets Harbor Lake Ontario was experiencing some higher than normal water levels but, except for some of the boating piers, the waterside businesses were not really affected. The Inn is a minute walk to the waters edge and travelers don't need to worry. We had a very relaxing stay and I highly recommend it. read more

My husband and I stayed June 29, 2018 in this beautiful home away from home. The room details were country chic, clean and inviting. The bed and bedding was both beautiful and comfortable! The bathroom was clean and well appointed, the robes and slippers a nice touch! The breakfast "nook" included coffee , tea and water. I loved the glassware, it was great to have a "glass" of wine the night of our stay and have coffee in a mug the next morning. My boyfriend and I stayed here while in town for a friend's wedding and were blown away by our experience. Upon arrival, we were able to upgrade to one of their newly renovated rooms for a small fee and it was totally worth it! Everything from the quaint decor to plush bedding & robes was so enjoyable. The complimentary breakfast was just down the hall and offered fresh fruit and baked goods. To our surprise, we even received a hand-written 'thank you' letter in the mail after our stay! I've stayed here a number of times. Through out the years it's been degrading. The hotel needs some updating. This could be a beautiful hotel due to its location. But it's missing its mark. Simply Lovely! We were traveling and got a flat tire and had to make an unplanned stop in Sackets Harbor. We had stayed at the Harbor House Inn a few years back and it was fine, kind of dated, but fine. Well, they have renovated the first two floors and it is just fabulous. This is one of the best finds around. The attention to detail is really remarkable. The rooms are gorgeous, beautiful comfy robes hang in the bathroom, an incredibly soft bath mat awaits you as you exit the shower, the bed is super comfortable, the quaint breakfast nook has everything you could possibly want (including bottled water, great wine glasses and wonderful coffee mugs, and the staff are charming and helpful. Alecia checked us in and she could not have been nicer. The Harbor House Inn ended up making what might have been an unpleasant delay in our trip - a fantastic side trip! I would stay here again in a heartbeat - flat tire or not! read more

This is a wonderful hotel in the quaint village of Sackets Harbor NY. The management is outstanding and the desk staff attentive and courteous. The hotel has had a complete renovation and the rooms are tastefully decorated. The price of the room was very reasonable for what you get. We were delighted with our 6 night stay in June. The rooms were clean with enough room to be comfortable. There was a nice beverage & light food bar that was always open. This is a family run inn, and in the process of very nice renovations. Tomm, his wife Marsha & the entire staff were all wonderful. I can't say enough about how friendly the entire staff was! They made us feel very welcome & were extremely helpful researching places of interest. We took a spectacular side trip to Niagara Falls in Canada. We also enjoyed visiting Boldt Castle & Singer Castle in the Thousand Islands. Sackets Harbor is a wonderful quaint town. The Inn is conveniently located next to nice restaurants, shopping & the historic War of 1812 battlefield. read more

The inn has been recently renovated and it is beautiful. Pros: Rooms are a calming gray and white, beds are comfortable, a family size table in our room included cards and games. Each floor has a convenience area with coffee, water, granola bars and fruit. Muffins and bagels are brought out in the morning. Location is perfect. Out favorite pizza place on one side and the 1812 Brewery on the other. Cons: I was surprised at how expensive our room was as we have stayed many times before. The bathroom door is a very cool looking sliding barn type door but does not overlap far enough so there is gap on each side which made me uncomfortable. Lastly, it would be nice to have a sitting area. Our floor had two wicker chairs at the end of the hall and the main floor had two chairs next to check in desk. We got the large suite with a full kitchen and jacuzzi tub. No view, but in July, you really don't spend much time in your room. The hotel is a bit dated and worm, but very clean and well appointed. You absolutely can't beat the location right in downtown Sacketts, and they certainly price the rooms at rates that reflect a healthy self awareness about the aging state of the place. It's exceptionally reasonable, even for a large room. The staff was courteous and there's convenient parking right on site. Walk to the marina, restaurants, bars, and the historic fort and head home just tipsy enough to not notice/mind the faded decor in your room. read more

The location of this place is all it has going for it. Cathy seemed to have it in for us from the onset. We were in town attending my husband's grandmother's funeral and booked a pet friendly room since it's easier to bring her with us. On our way up (6 hour drive) we called and asked if we could have an early check in since the service was at 2. The earliest they could do was 1:30, which was very tight, but doable. As soon as we walked in she asked if we had a crate for our dog (no smile, no hello). We said, "No" she doesn't need one and we don't crate her. There was no indication on their website that this is a requirement or desire nor did she mention it when we called that day or the day before or any time before that. Off we ran to our room to change quickly and get our dog settled. First impressions were not high...old shabby, faded carpet (but it is a pet friendly room, so ok), old bedspreads and just dark and dingy... very dated. Our dog immediately started running around the room and I see her eating things. I stepped on something which turned out to be chunks of dog bones from another visitor which left me questioning if they even vacuumed the room before we got there! As we are getting ready to go, we noticed the carpet was pulled by the door by another dog or cat. We didn't want our dog to add to it any, so we grabbed a spare blanket from the closet and pulled it behind us as we closed the door so she wouldn't be compelled to "dig". Needless to say, this didn't always work the few times we did have to leave her in there and apologized for any ADDITIONAL damage our dog may have done. Here's the thing though...working in the industry, this should be maybe $75-$100 to patch and repair quickly. This lady, Cathy, tell us there was no damage when we were given the room and she even checked it herself for cleanliness. LIES! If we hadn't been in such a hurry to make it to the funeral, we would have photographed the damage when we got there and reported that and the dirty floor to the desk. As it was we had no time. When she called us with the "quote" she says it's going to be $250 (!!!!) and goes as far to say the carpet in the room was brand new!! Just plain, flat out lying to us and completely using us to get the carpet replaced for the whole bedroom rather than repairing the small piece by the door. What a scam. Here's a tip - replace it with tile in a pet friendly room. We admit our pup may have added to it, but feel compelled to review this place so negatively because of Cathy's rudeness, the lying, the outrageous charge and feeling like we are being used to update one whole bedroom. We will not be staying here again even with the fantastic location. read more
