Love this place. Cool local spot with some decent felt. No frills, just the basics.

We paid $152 a night including taxes and fees (booked directly through the hotel, not a third party). This hotel is right off Highway 401, so very convenient. We had a room facing the Brockville Convention Centre and not facing the highway, so noise was not a problem. It is within walking distance to a few shops, restaurants, and fast food joints. It's a Holiday Inn Express, so the rooms are pretty basic. No fridge, no microwave. However, you get free hot breakfast buffet, free WiFi and free parking. The rooms were clean. I carry Clorox wipes with me when I stay in hotels and I wipe down all the hard surfaces. The wipes came out white (not grey or black), so I was happy. There were some stains on the fabric computer chair at the desk though, so this was a bit off-putting, but I've seen much worse at other hotels. They have a small fitness centre and pool. I didn't use the pool, but I saw it because the pool and fitness centre are separated by a glass wall. I think it's a bit weird to have to look at people in the pool while you're on the elliptical, but I guess the glass wall makes the fitness centre look and feel not as small. The fitness centre is tiny. The sign says maximum room capacity is 6 people (!) The room only has 1 elliptical, 2 stationary bikes and a treadmill, no free weights/dumbbells, so I have no idea what the other 2 people would be doing, lol. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't any weights, but given the small space, I guess that's understandable. So I had to be a cardio bunny during our stay, haha. The breakfast buffet was good and comparable to other Holiday Inn Expresses. We stayed for 2 nights and the breakfast selection did not change. The hot breakfast was turkey sausage, pork sausage and scrambled eggs. They had a pancake machine. They had cinnamon buns, muffins, bagels, English muffins, and bread. They had oatmeal (with toppings you can add like raisins, walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon), 4 types of cereal, yogurt, and boiled eggs. They had juices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate (the last 3 are available 24/7). All the staff were exceptionally nice. Stella was very warm and welcoming. They also give you Tic-Tacs in your room when you arrive and housekeeping writes you a nice welcome note. After our first night there, I left a thank-you note for housekeeping along with our tip and mentioned that I loved the Tic-Tacs. When we returned, our room attendant (Kylie) wrote me a nice note back and gave me extra Tic-Tacs! How nice was that? They also called our room on the second night that we were there to ask us if everything was ok with our room (they may have called us on our first night there but we weren't in our room so we don't know). This HIE also has free popcorn in the lobby everyday from 7pm-9pm. We didn't have the opportunity to have any, but I think that it's a very nice extra. WiFi was fast and reliable. Parking was plentiful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Breakfast food and service excellent. Large portions. Starbucks coffee free, front desk in morning fantastic. Makes no sense, you can bring free coffee into Restaurant but if you order it with breakfast, $5.00. Front desk, Jacob evening fantastic. Some daytime staff at desk unfriendly and so, so. Shower, no cold water in couple rooms, some only hot water. Still overall recommended. Nice pool and hottub. Large event space and easy parking. Ps Robes are very nice and worth $75. First, a fire alarm at 2:30 am meant I didn't sleep the rest of the night (meanwhile, I had to check out the next day and drive 3 hours to get home. Maybe no big deal for a young person in good health, but for a senior with myriad health issues, this was the start of a bad experience that just kept snowballing. Next, the hotel's boiler broke and it took them all night and well past 9 am before it was fixed. Right at the time when everyone is trying to take their shower, but can't so they can't get out, check out or just wash their hands???? How does a business whose sole service is providing "hospitality" NOT have a backup boiler?? Not a perfect solution, but a backup could have been activated and some service restored while the main boiler was being repaired during the morning wake-up, get out and go hours. The hotel doesn't offer a continental breakfast, just an overpriced and reportedly mediocre restaurant onsite. They do offer coffee, but there was NO coffee when I checked, even though it was still well within the window when they purport to offer it--and no one in sight to ask if they could refill the carafes. So now, I've had it. All I want to do is get the hell out. But I have severe COPD so I have to lug my oxygen machine as well as regular luggage anytime I travel. I could'nt manage all of it by myself. But of course all TWO of the luggage carts were in use by able-bodied single thirty somethings or families with children. Wouldn't it make sense for the hotel to reserve at least ONE cart for people in wheelchairs or who have trouble BREATHING??? When I went back to retrieve my oxygen machine, the key card would not open the room door because it was just past checkout time, so I had to go back to the lobby and ask the front desk to temporarily reactivate my card key. Will I visit Clayton NY again? Absolutely. Will I stay at the Harbor Hotel again? Sorry to say, No.

We weren't expecting an incredible experience but we certainly got one! Judy was wonderful managing our reservation and warmly greeted us when we arrived. I like the concept of boutique hotels but sometimes find they can be too cramped or stuffy, not the Harbor House Inn. It's intimate but rooms are spacious so you feel like you can breathe. The room was absolutely amazing, farmhouse chic with a splash of coastal aesthetic. The soaking tub was to die for! The bed was very comfy. All the staff were friendly. Our room had a partial view of the lake, was a welcome surprise. The hotel is right in the center of town, perfect walking location to the battlefield, shops and eateries. All we wanted was a night away from the little ones but Harbor House Inn delivered a sweet experience. Highly recommend and will definitely return. It was worth the money spent!

Upon further inspection if the towels could talk, they would tell a story. The dried vomit outside of our room was a nice touch to add to the experience. The bed, and the pillows had live bed bugs. We saved one in a piece of toilet paper to show the property. We packed our belongings and checked out. I stopped at the front desk, informed them of our room number, we were leaving, and why. I showed the gentleman the live bed bug we found. His reaction wasn't the best, and no refund was offered. Booking.com tried to get us a refund, but the property refused to return their call. The property refused to communicate with me as well. Below is a picture of the live bed bug we presented the property and one I found on me when I returned home, which I obviously killed, after driving 5 hours in the pouring rain, at night through the Adirondack Park.

The owners and the hotel housekeepers were all extremely pleasant. We had a dog-friendly room because we brought our boy, and there was nothing wrong with the room at all. We had a nice night here with no complaints. They offered breakfast the next morning and it was what you would find at a HI Express or something comparable. I agree that even though the hotel is smoke-free, you can tell that some people try to get away with it. Lazy. The weather was great, they could have gone outside.

Firstly they have plenty of parking including quite a few electric car charging stations so good for those who need it. Location wise you are near a plaza with Pizza Hut among other stores and plenty of store and food options in the nearby area. Check-in was simple enough with a friendly worker who even apologized for the wait as we were behind one either person. I think due to the holiday weekend lots of rooms were booked and we ended up having to get a two queen room as that was all that they had available. Bed is comfy enough but neither my wife or I really enjoy the pillows they have. The shower/tub and bathroom in general is nice enough. Their housekeeping is offered every other day so you won't get it unless you are staying longer. They do offer complimentary breakfast that seemed very typical but appreciate it being free compared to most hotels charging you. A good option for the area for a place to stay. By no means my favorite hotel but minimal complaints overall. I would stay again, but may bring my own pillow.

Guest service and housekeeping were very kind, especially towards the kids. The interior decor is really eclectic and modern, definitely different in a good way from your routine generic hotels out there. Bed was super comfy, big bathroom (no tub), large screen TV and everything very clean. Excellent spa quality bathroom products! The standouts were the common areas, dining space, gym, outdoor patio and pool areas were so beautiful. While the pool is on the small side, the kids had a blast. Only slight negative was the breakfast. Food quality was not as high as other hotel breakfasts I've had. The breakfast sandwiches were premade ones and limited hot items were microwave quality. Although the mango water was delicious! There is a plaza directly next door which was nice for a quick Pizza Hut fix. We paid about $160 for one night on a holiday weekend, overall an okay value. We'd recommend and return!
