My husband is an avid Elvis fan and he was in awe as soon as we stepped through the door. Our boys, 15 and 13 were amazed at the tall shelves that seemed to stock EVERYTHING that you would need. What a shame we lived all the way in Manjimup, Western Australia or we would have gladly bought more! The best part of our visit was meeting George Booth, who took the time out of his day to chat with us about the history of his family's shop. He was also genuinely interested in US and where we were from, he was amazed at how far we had travelled to come to his shop. Of course we took photos of the X that marks the spot where Gladys bought her son's first guitar. Everything about this store left us feeling awestruck and so glad we were able to see with our own eyes where Elvis visited as a boy. Highly recommend visiting this hardware store, for hardware as well as a great experience! Visited September 2015

Anders Hardware is an absolute treasure of Downtown Northport, and I would highly advise any and…read moreeveryone to patronize our hometown hardware store over any of the big box chains. I've been coming to Anders since I was a little boy. Back in the day, you could only buy lumber from Anders or from Richardson's Lumber Company. My dad and I would often come to Anders to purchase lumber, to buy nuts and bolts and random odds and ends to fix our farm equipment, or to buy needed tools or other such knickknacks for our use on the farm. While Andrew no longer sells lumber, Anders literally has anything else you need. Whether it's seed for your garden, Bonnie plants if you're too lazy to grow your plants from seed, or any hardware necessities, Anders has you covered. In addition to hardware, Anders does have other little odds and ends. Little red wagons, little old-fashioned toys, and other such things can be found here. If you're having trouble finding something in the Tuscaloosa area, and it's something of the hardware-ish variety, I would recommend checking out Anders. Skip the big box, you'll be glad you did.

When I walked in the door here, I was greeted and offered to help. The man gathered all my things for me. And he knew what I was talking about. But if you go here, expect to pay. I was shocked to find that I was paying almost a dollar a bolt. But in this case, it was worth it to not deal with the usual dumbass at other stores.

When I say that, I am referring specifically to asking anyone a question in the garden center. Every question we asked - do you have watering cans, which seed should we use for grass, where are the tripods for watering - the answer was I don't know or just a shrug. Employees were gathered together near a forklift three at a time just talking together, not helping customers on a busy three day weekend! The good about this Lowe's- most of the cashiers in the return area and in the main area are kind and helpful. They give a military discount which is very much appreciated.
