Much nicer than the regular Walmart in Starkville. They had cosmetics, some office supplies, baby items, a pretty decent selection of cereals/breakfast food, a good range of snacks/crackers/chips, and a really nice produce section. They also have a small section set aside for MSU gear, which was pretty neat as well. Checkout moved quickly (there are self checkout lines here too!) and the employee who helped check me out was very kind and helpful. Highly recommend visiting here! I'll be back often, since there's cheap gas and since it is in such a convenient location from campus.

And while that is true on the surface...they have the same signage, uniforms and basic goods...I have determined that the town and management gives each Wal-Mart it's own personality. This was my out and about place in my trip to Starkville, I didn't have a lot of time but I did need some necessities at different times and this was my go to place. I tried to buy clothes, and that never worked out LOL! I had several returns and the service desk was awesome you guys get 4 stars **** Clothing department, friendly staff willing to help! What! At a Wal-Mart?!?! I had the sweetest lady help me on several occasions try to find the right size and color. I wish I had gotten her name...she is a gem.

The people of Starkville deserve better. The pumps at the gas station always have issues with the card readers, including debiting money from your account. I picked up a package of tortillas one afternoon and checked the date, 2 months past expiration! The person working the aisle told me it wasn't her job to make sure the items were good. They remodeled at put a wall of candy up to make it harder for disabled people to get to a register. There's fewer and fewer employee ran registers. Don't get me started on the lack of service a the tire center! The people here do not care about service. Try calling, no one ever answers the damn phone. They know they suck. If I could give negative stars, I would.

I suppose I was not particularly surprised to find only about an eighth of an aisle's worth of organic food. The produce section was pathetic...there was an unnerving number of fruit flies hovering throughout. I was looking for bagged kale, but they didn't have it. I also looked for hazelnuts and pepitas in the produce section and then, not finding it there, went to the baking section, which also didn't have it. The fresh cilantro I bought felt heavy with water, which I presume was intended to keep it fresh, but by the time I got it home, it was soggy and gross. It amazes me how the Kroger brand appears to invest so much in some locations, but let others like this one go at least 20 years without even updating the signage. If this were the first Kroger I ever went into, I would probably never go to another. They should keep that in mind.
