The female worker at the cashier wanted to get her family in (they were right in front of us) and lied to the rest of the line that was in the building already they it would be fine. Her family was the only family that was allowed to take professional photos with Santa before security came to cut the line off. Nepotism at its finest despite the fact it was already 4p. Common sense and common courtesy was lacking in Christmas spirit today. Luckily, Santa had the Xmas spirit and took selfies with the rest of us in line (the long line outside, I'm not so sure). The employees need to be trained in managing the line better and cutting it off before people stand in line for over an hour. Thanks, Santa! Next year they should have two monitors - one to take the photos and the other so people can select. Then all the employees can be doing something useful at all times to keep the line moving along. Otherwise, it was the same person - the photographer taking the photos, helping choose the photos, explaining the packages, etc. Super inefficient when there is a line - you could tell they weren't used to it.

I attended the Inaugural Tequila & Mezcal festival in downtown Alameda…read more The event started on Alameda Avenue where ID's were checked, tickets were scanned, wristbands were provided and lanyards for the event that included a map of where to stop for drink tasting and snacks were provided. There were 15 stops within downtown Alameda surrounding Park Street to stop and try Tequila and Mezcal. Each stop, most of them were table set outside offered food to go with the tasting of alcohol. Of all the stops I was able to visit there were a few that stood out! At Tomatina the meatball was good. Daisy's had my favorite Tequila of night, Moxies offered a slice of tender beef covered with mole , La Penca Azul offered chicken flautas, La Lena offered chicken or corn tostados and Dragon Rouge offered potstickers and noodles. Everything we ate was good and I enjoyed getting to try many types of tequilas and mezcals, I'd never had. I'd definitely go again for a fun and festive outing!

There's also a gas station here along with a UPS store, Hawaiian BBQ, Wing Stop, Baskin and Robbins and a pet food shop. The parking lot is usually pretty crowded, and there's a nice trail that runs along the public shore with great views of the bridge.

I've been shopping at this location for very long time. How long is that? I shopped here when the anchor stores were RiteAid and Alpha Beta. Sometime in the early 2000's, they did a major facelift and created today's Bridgeside Shopping Center. The anchor is a Nobhill Foods. What's an anchor store? An anchor store attracts customers to the shopping center. Personally, I don't shop at Nobhill. I come here to go to Baskin-Robbins, The Cheese Steak Shop, WingStop or Ohana Hawaiian BBQ. Drinking and dancing was probably my favorite thing to do here. That combination is no more as of late. A more frequently used excuse to come here is to spend 10 minutes in Dollar Tree. Peruse the place before going to eat and I never use a bag here so I restrict my purchase volume capacity. Lingering (ie legal loitering) is okay. Wondering about the moment while taking in the views and sounds along the waterfront is usually easy. There is a shoreline parking space. Maybe a tall boat will open the Park Street Bridge. Socializing and eating at places here is my number one combination of a reason for enjoying Park Street Landing.

Today, Chestnut Station is a cluster of shops, cafes, and a variety of other businesses. Saint Joseph School and Notre Dame High are nearby. The popular Encinal Nursery is down the street. I mainly come to Chestnut Station to shop at Chestnut Market. I can usually save a trip to the supermarket by simply grabbing the basics at this medium-sized market. Chestnut Station is located at Encinal Ave & Chestnut Street. It's also close to Willow Street, which is a popular route to the Southshore Shopping Center. The parking lot isn't too big. There's also a laundromat, restaurant, and hardware store here. This is also a good place to park if you need to walk down Webster street to other businesses.

A longtime ago, trains went up and down these streets, and a train station was located here. Well, the trains are gone now. But the business district that surrounded the station remains. Unique places like: - Westside Joe's Bikes - Malaya Tea Room - Alameda Shade Shop - State Farm Insurance - In Town Chiropractic - Gruber's Bazaar - numerous Hair, Nail and Beauty Salons I dropped a star because there's no grocery or liquor store. But it is very close to Morton Station, which has a grocery store. Caroline Station is only 3 blocks east of Washington Park, which places it walking distance from Webster Street. It's also on the edge of Alameda's Gold Coast area. Only street parking available. Caroline Station is best visited on foot. If you drive, you'll probably miss the small shop called Gruber's Bazaar, which used to be Inkblot Gallery. Well, now you know why this small collection of shops are here.
