Buyer beware. James/Jimmy is quite charming when pitching his quote -- the service delivered once the contract is signed is literally 180 degrees the opposite. I won't detail everything that happened on this project--these are the highlights: * Subcontractor's day laborer found crying in the mail room * Same day laborer followed my neighbor to the manager's office and had to be removed from the property * Same subcontractor was fired, leaving my apt a mess * Next subcontractor walked off the job over a payment dispute with James * James stated he would finish the job ... but not for another 6- 8 weeks because he had other jobs he was prioritizing I paid him $4000 and all I got was a bigger mess than when I had started, including damage to the window treatments, damage to the flooring and damage to my furniture. He always had a story and an excuse but ultimately chose not to take responsibility for how things were left -- see text messages below. Qualities of a good paint job were discussed verbally with contractor before job began and contractor verbally agreed but then ignored. Paint is peeling off of windows, doors, and baseboards. Improper taping damaged floors. Cabinet doors rehung crooked. Now need to redo much of the project and repair the other damage done. Received a past due notice for final payment days before the job was completed. Contractor kept saying it would be the last day of work when job was far from finished. Bought my first condo and it was a fixer upper, I needed paint and I also wanted acoustic ceiling removal. Stumbled upon James after many phone calls to other contractors and after our initial conversation, I knew he was the guy for the job. He was communicative during the entire process and I am pleased with the job he did at the end of the project. He was very professional throughout, even answering my phone calls/texts after hours. The minor issue I had (some light mold growing in a couple areas) he came and remediated quickly. He made certain if I had any other issues he would come back and fix them, and I believe he would. What made James stand out to me was him throwing in a bonus that wasnt in the contract, painting the fireplace. Those little touches go a long way, it definitely came out better than expected. Had James come over and from some cutouts in my ceiling. Was told he preferred to fix them himself and we should skim coat and re-texture the whole thing. I told him whatever needed to be done was fine. Just make it look good, actually just close to what it was. Work done was horrible. He went over on timeframe which is fine. Things happen. But when i asked him to fix his bad job then said he went above and beyond because he finished the job two days later than was told. Then he wanted to charge me extra to repair the holes he fixed. Was told for the past 2 months that he was gonna fix it. He even came over and pointed out why it was such a bad job. Went to fast, didn't let it dry long enough. Paint along the ceiling was horrific. Left a loft of the drywall mud caked around the sprinkler heads and speaker mounts. Drywall dust all over the house. The cutout in the wall he repaired was fine. He said he was gonna hire someone else to come out and fix it but won't tell me who it is. He was pretty responsive at first but once the job was done wasn't as responsive. If you're looking for a quality repair then this is not the guy. If the communication was better then I would have taken you up on your offer but you've said you were sending an agreement and still hasn't came. Even asked again with no answer. Never, and I mean never, have I had such a positive experience with a contractor. Some days I feel like I talked with Jimmy than my own wife - there was never an instance that I wasn't part of the project. We did a master remodel and Jimmy's team did a Level 5 finish with rounded corners in 8-10 days. It's immaculate. Looks like it came out of Architecture Digest. To top it off, they powerwashed the driveway, professionally cleaned our bathroom, and helped clean and prep the jobsite like it was their own house. His team NEVER complained. Never took breaks, never left for unknown reasons. They crushed it from 9 to 5 every day. Every single day I'd do a walkthrough and they'd be 1000% open to fixing any of the tiniest details to make sure it was absolutely perfect. Not a single push-back, not a single complaint, even when it might set work back by a few hours or even extend the project another day. No detail was too small to talk/fix. I wish Jimmy did plumbing and electrical too because he cares more than any other contractor I've met. I cannot rate this company high enough. I called James to repair a hole in my drywall due to a leak. He asked me to send him a photo. Within 90 minutes, I had a quote. He called me and went through all the services he would provide. He told me his goal, "was to fix this so it looked like nothing happened." He definitely achieved the goal. In fact, the ceiling looks even better. He originally told me it would take two days. But, when he saw how inconvenient the location of the damage was, he told me he would stay and work late. He wanted me to have my kitchen back. When he was done with a long day, he stayed longer to make sure everything was all cleaned up. When he left, it looked like nothing had happened. I noticed as he was leaving, he stopped to scrub the sidewalk to get rid of the drywall residue outside. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend James.
