The Hawaii Life team did the impossible. They sold oceanfront property in a down market during the…read moreslow selling season getting the price I wanted while dealing with a crazy tenant. The property was in it's glory during the 80's so it had become a tad "worn." Their advice on what to spend money on (and what not to spend money on!) to make the place sellable to a high end buyer was spot on. They know how to stage property for sale, they know how to properly segment the market to find qualified buyers, and they have an impressive personal network of brokers and buyers they can tap into. Within days of signing the contract we had potential buyers already walking the property. Impressive. I interviewed 4 brokers on the Big Island and came away most impressed with Hawaii Life. They are a young company but they have a level of energy and drive you don't see in many of the established brokers on the island, including those touted as being the "top sellers." Oddly enough, not one of those purported "top sellers" brought a single prospect to the table. I believe I'd still be sitting on this property if I hadn't gone with Hawaii Life. Thanks Katie, Pattie and Jan!

I called them on a Monday and left a voicemail, no response. I called them again on Thursday, thinking maybe my cell phone garbled my phone number or something, left another voicemail, and no response. As I was flying out, on Sunday, I got a callback. I know Hawaii is laid back, but 6 days late is no good. They *might* be good if you can get them to call you back. Who knows? But when I choose a Realtor, being able to reach them reliably is important.

I think 3 stars would be average so I'm rating below average. We came to Waikoloa Village in a…read morebind. Victims of a craigslist scam we needed somewhere quick but affordable for our family AND 2 dogs. That's hard to find here! Fortunately this group had a house open. We saw it and were verbally given a rental amount. The house looked like it needed some cosmetic help, a REAL good cleaning, and much yard work. However, we were desperate. For a 3 bed 2 bath house the verbal price of $1800 a month was good for the area despite the needs of the house. That may be where most of the "good" stopped. After hearing of our situation and getting our info, we were told the price was going up $50 to $1850 a month. Then before we met to sign papers the price went up again to $1950 a month, supposedly so repairs could be done and yard fixed including irrigation. The company stated it was per the owner that the price went up. The entire time we lived there (about 9 months) no yard repairs were done and only 1 of the cosmetic repairs inside were done. The owner that they manage the property for is the reason they use that they can't do the repairs needed. On moving in we asked them to send cleaners BACK as the home was still quite dirty and smelled of cat urine. The cleaners supposedly came back but you could not tell, so we spent a good amount of time and money to clean the house ourselves. Repairs that were requested usually took a while to get done, if ever, and often required repeat visits. Some repairs promised were not yet done at the time of our moving out after 9 months. Then at move out time we experienced the oddest event. Though the place was so poorly cleaned when we moved in, Melva "white gloved" the place behind the company we hired to clean! We were given a list of what needed to be recleaned and we watched our hired cleaning service clean those things. In closing paperwork about $280 was STILL charged for them supposedly having to go back and clean more??!! That seemed quite humorous considering the history of our move in experience. Our dogs tore the screen out of the back sliding door. We bought supplies to change the screen but with the cleaning fiasco on moving out we never had time to do this. Instead of just changing the screen, which is a quick and cheap fix, we were charged for them supposedly buying and installing an entire new sliding door (~$230). As for staff we worked with Melva, and she can be quite hard to reach at times. Often when you call, the secretaries seemed unsure of when and/or if she would be at the office or even available. Some things you would here back from her later and somethings never. She frequently blames the homeowner as being the reason things couldn't be or wouldn't be done. However, we spoke with neighbors who knew the homeowner and they noted that this was not true. There was one young lady who worked the front desk who was a great help and made things much easier to deal with. So with all of that said, if you are in a bind and need a place to live on the island you might need to use Hawaii Dream Properties. They may have something readily available you can get into. Just be aware that you may experience some of the things we did. If you know going into it though it helps; which is why we are putting this review in. On an island where it can be hard to find housing we wouldn't say don't use them we would just say be prepared.

We searched many properties in the area and found a luxury condo on the property managed by Jason. The unit (on Hainoa street) was perfect. Clean, quiet, great view, and comfortable. There was a minor issue with the grill malfunctioning and Jason was all over it, ultimately fixing it on Easter Sunday. He was immediately responsive and managed to find a repair person, get them to respond and address the problem, all while constantly following up with me and the repair guy. I have rented a number of nice vacation homes over the years and the is the best service I have ever seen. If you are going to the big island, I would highly recommend this unit. 3br/3ba that is just perfect. Nice touches like Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella. Match that with the service and you are all set. If I didn't have a job and need money, I would have just stayed there.

The grounds at the complex were meticulously maintained and the pool and gym areas were fantastic. We also enjoyed the private beach club access. I especially appreciate the top notch customer service from Jason and his team. A question on how to work the thermostat was promptly addressed and resolved in a few minutes (after office hours). Jason also reached out pro-actively to let us know we were welcome to check in early and stay late, since there were no other guests on our arrival and departure dates. We will definitely be back! Loved it! (Also, thank you to the prior yelp reviewer for a spot on review. It helped us decide on renting directly from this business!)
