We went to 5 well known distilleries and then a smaller one named Larrikin all in around 8 hours and feel like that was about the perfect amount of time to browse and sample. If you go to Larrikin you need to try their maple bourbon cream. It's unbelievable. Their bourbon and gin are also excellent. Halfway through the tour we stopped at a bbq spot to refuel.

It wasn't until I escalated repeatedly that someone finally got back to me, promising to "make it right" and offer a discount for the disorganization. That never truly materialized. Our drivers showed up late, weren't informed of the itinerary until the night before, and we were charged for 15 guests even though only 13 attended (offered a partial refund for the missing 2). Two vans arrived when one would have been enough -- a clear sign of poor planning. Our Buffalo Trace tour wasn't at the time requested, and our group got split, likely due to late booking. If you're just looking for a ride between distilleries, this company might do the job. But if you want a stress-free, well-organized experience with honest follow-through -- look elsewhere.

My friends and I did the Brewery tour for a birthday celebration, we had so much fun!!…read more Our tour started at West Sixth around noon. The tour included 3 beers and a walk through of the brewery. Our tour guide was so much fun and even had cupcakes for our friends birthday! After West Sixth we got on the party bus. Bill, the party bus driver, was waiting for us. He was so friendly and immediately told us about the coolers and passed us the aux cord. Bill drove us to the distillery district where we went on tours at Wise Bird and Ethereal. We spent around 2 hours in this area which was nice because we had the option to get food. From Ethereal we went to Rock House Brewery, then to Mirror Twin! At each brewery we got a tour and small explanation on how they made their beer. We also got plenty of samples at each brewery. Mirror Twin was our final destination. We arrived just in time for the UK game! Part of our tour included a small seating area for our friends to watch the UK game! Everybody at Lex on Tab was so friendly and accommodating- I would recommend this tour to everybody!

Looking for something new to do on Labor Day weekend (also our Anniversary weekend), my wife ran…read moreacross the Bluegrass Railroad Museum. We've always loved doing things that are train-related, so this was an easy decision. Riding the train? Even better, as I've always loved train travel. They have the coach, first class, and the new open-air cars. Those looked awesome, but since it was our anniversary weekend we were looking for a bit more. "A bit more" meant we got to rid in The Cab with the engineers! It was a totally awesome experience, sitting, literally, at the front of the train with the guys making the thing go. As I recall the engineers were Robert and Steve, and were really nice guys. They were funny and informative, and it was cool to see the "behind the scenes" while the train was in motion. The Cab wasn't as big as I expected it to be and the controls weren't really high-tech, then again this was a pretty vintage engine. It was fun as we heard them calling out commands and statuses to each other and with the conductor at the rear of the train. The scenery along the way is beautiful. Horse farms and rolling fields make for post-card ready photographs, and the limestone cuts along the way make you realize just how much work went into getting the track built back during the civil war. We were also told that, while the railroad ties are replaced very 25 years, the iron rails are still the original rails that were laid back then. Once we got to the end of the track we ended up at the Kentucky River, which was seriously cool. While it's no longer viable for river crossings it's still an awesome thing to see. We stopped there for about 15 minutes to take pictures and to take in the scenery. Back on board the train and now the Engine is pushing the train from the rear and the engineers and conductor continued their calls, making sure things were moving safely. Once back at the station it was time to disembark and visit the museum and gift shop, which doubles as the ticket booth. They have a nice array of souvenirs to chose from for anyone at any age. The museum is a bit on the small side compared to others we've been to, but at the same time it's perfectly sized for their operation. There is also a model train exhibit in one of the stationary rail cars, and a few other cars to check out on the grounds. We really enjoyed our visit and train ride - especially riding in The Cab - and we'll be back again. Looking at other reviews it makes absolutely no sense why someone would give this a 1-star rating because it was, in every sense, and absolutely awesome experience.

The cab I was picked up in was one of those explorer type vehicles (could have fit the government motorcade if it had all tinted windows). WHAT A STANDARD OF CHANGE FROM WHAT I THOUGHT A TAXI CAB ONCE WAS! The individual was really nice and we talked about his wife and how, we men, tend to get worn out from all the demands of life. LOL! He also told me of his upcoming "big fish" type of travel, $6k for a 3 day drop off and pick up for a customer. The taxi life is (using a gen z term to best describe this, might be out of context, but...) bussing. I even asked him how the introduction of Uber and Lyft had affected the taxi business and he stated that it led to a lot of them going out of business. He still has a stronghold because of his "loyal customer base." The only problem I have with this service is that the price is pretty steep. $4 a mile is pretty expensive. My itemized receipt: 40 for 8.8 miles (I think he rounded up) $4 for tax (when I think KY sales tax is like 6%, so somewhere around $2.20) $6 tip (I was kind of in a bind and was just glad someone could get me to work) $50 Just for comparison purposes: The vehicle I drive gets 31 mpg. If I were to drive the same distance, it would be 11/31 = 0.3549/gallons 0.3549 x 3.49 (gas price at the station I usually use) = $1.2386 IRS reimbursement rate 0.655/mile x 11 = $7.205 I would think reasonable would be around $25.

I appreciate that Gillian's standard of care for her animals is higher than most and she, Rob, and Octavio run Pine Knoll as a the most welcoming well-oiled machine for both horse and human.
