I just happened to be in need of a service like this, the last thing on my mind at that time was what I was going to do with my little man. Their name put me at ease too. Pets After Life Services shortened to PALS is truly a great name. I had called the local vet office and they referred me here. This was the place that they used in times of need and I figured my little man could use the same services. I had called ahead to set up a time to bring him here and have him taken care of. Even though it was a hard time and I was scatter brained about everything, they showed compassion and took their time with me. They walked me through everything over the phone before I arrived. When I did arrive they showed me more compassion while I was in here. They showed me how much they care about your fur baby as much as you do. They told me everything that would happen and everything that would happen afterward. I was able to select the urn like container that I would receive little man back in. After they did what they did they called and I headed back to pick little man up. I received him in my selected urn like container with a certificate with his name on it, the Rainbow Bridge poem, and a detailed receipt. Honestly, I never want to be put in this position again, but they put me at ease in my time of need. I miss him every day, but I at least know I gave him the dignity he deserved in the end.

She does a…read moreFANTASTIC job on our babies, she takes her time, it takes about an hour a dog and our dogs are just 7 and 12 lbs, they always look great! They always come home with bows or ribbons around their necks and they ALWAYS look great! They get groomed every 6-8 weeks all year long. Her prices are slightly higher than others, but the job gets done right every time! We had used a few other groomers before we found Robyn, none of them come close to the time and energy Robyn takes and she, 8+ years later, still does the same GREAT job!!

My dog pooped when he went in the door because he's always nervous when he gets groomed. My daughter-in-law Kim comes with me to take our dogs. Kim picked up Harley's poop & put it in a plastic bag that was provided. Because there was no container right outside the door (by the steps) like there normally is, Kim put the bag with poop on the counter. Tosha went off on Kim about putting the plastic bag on the counter & said for her to walk up to the entrance at the top of the hill to put it in the yellow garbage bin. Tosha continued yelling & even used the "F" word & said we're lucky that she didn't throw the poop bag on my car. I have never experienced that kind of treatment by any other employee at the Doggie Lodge & today will be my last day as a customer with 2 dogs. I think Tosha, at the least, needs to be reprimanded & also take a course in customer service. What a shame. Marcia Cavalier

It has been a year now since I had to put Kobe to sleep, I am finally able to write without…read morebreaking down in tears. Loosing my beautiful boy broke my heart. I have bought 3 golden puppies over the years from Hilltop. The first one was awesome, her name was Jasmine and she had to be put to sleep due to cancer. After 3 surgeries, chemo and many trips to the oncologist, it was time. She was 9 and had a good life, so I didn't think much about the breeder or the bloodline. Kobe was the second golden I got from Hilltop. Kobe was such a beautiful boy, we couldn't go anywhere without someone stopping to comment on his looks. He was only 4 and 1/2 when he passed away. Again cancer, chemo and thousands of dollars. Kobe also had mega esophagus, which meant his esophagus was enlarged and could not work properly to push food down. He had a special high chair to sit up in for feedings so the food would fall down his esophagus to his stomach. Towards the end it didn't work well at all and eventually he wouldn't eat - lost over 20 pounds. He was so miserable towards the end - chemo, pain, not able to eat, ect. I really wanted to go to Duncansville and give Marilyn a piece of my mind. For her to brag about how well taken care of her puppies are and how they are tested for this and that. Seems cancer and other major illnesses are not a big concern for her. Kona is my third (and last, I've learned my lesson) puppy from Hilltop. I had him before Kobe got sick or I would have went somewhere else. When we first brought him home he had worms so bad it was disgusting! It's challenging enough training a new puppy, many, many potty breaks... But poor Kona was so sick, he was lethargic. I rushed him to the vet for meds and eventually everything was Ok. Worms are transferred from Mom to puppies, so I feel sorry for her girls. They must not be taken care of very well (except when they are making her more money). I know Goldens are prone to cancer, but an ethical breeder would try to breed it out of the bloodline. I also feel she breeds her females too often. Proceed with caution.

After losing two of my fur babies in the last year I felt it was time to go and bring home an…read moreanimal in need of a forever home. The Humane Society of Cambria County is closest to where I live and I decided that I wanted to go check and see what animals were available. I honestly had no intention of falling for one of them when I walked in, but somehow you bond. I walked in and the place is immaculate. Buzzing with noise as any animal shelter does. I asked if they had any cats available, and of course they did. I went back and walked up and down the aisle, double and sometimes triple looking at all the feline friends in need. I eventually found one that caught my eye and decided that I would like to see how we would do when we mingled. I went out and asked if I could hang out with one, they obliged. After hanging out in the kitty alcove I ended up falling for one that was in there already. With the visit over I went out and asked what the process was to adopt a cat. I was given an application to fill out and went ahead to complete it. This application is worse than both a job application and a rent application combined. I understand that they want to make sure that the animal is going to a responsible home and that way they weed out the bad prospects. But to ask for three references in regards to whether you can care for an animal is a bit ridiculous. Once I filled out my application, handed it over to them I was told that it would be up to seven days and they would make their decision. Seven days have come and gone...a long time ago. And I have not heard one peep from them. I know for a fact that they have called my references on the application as I was told by the people I had listed that they received a call. I, however, did not receive word on whether I was approved or denied. It would have been the decent thing to have done, even if I was denied to let me know one way or the other. All I have to say is that the fur baby would have had a good forever home, but it will never know that now.

They found the kitten here in johnstown. They refused to give their kitten back because they have a dog that isn't fixed. After public backlash and doing what they asked, they told them to get the kitten when they got there they adopted their kitten to someone else! This humane society then bashed a grieving family publicly on facebook and disabled the comments. These people are evil.
